Initial Thoughts on bengal Game

Packers, Indy, then the Chargers
Lafleur, Steichen and Harbaugh are amped!

I wouldn’t have entertained Ramsey on Chase. I would have doubled Chase the whole game. We can start there.
Maybe. But Higgins made plays all night too. So did #80. They just would have went there. It wasn't like they were covering those guys.

Offense bounced back from two turnovers and did enough to win. Yet another poor performance by the defense. There are individually talented players, but it's a unit that depends on generating pressure and Watt/Herbig/Highsmith were invisible. On top of that, the defense needs a leader like Rodgers--Heyward has never been the type of leader who will not tolerate these types of performances.
Poor doesn't begin to describe that performance by the defense tonight!

You know, when your own run game is gashing them, you can keep them off the ******* field by running the ball more. That, and making someone besides Chase beat you. THAT means doubling him, not letting them run across the middle freely all game and someone getting to the QB. TJ was *** tonight, for what he's being paid he can't ghost for 99% of the game. This is just part of the deal as a Steelers fan. Thankfully they didn't do this **** when we were there against the Stains. From looking like the division could have been wrapped up tonight, to looking at 3 teams that could hang L's on them.

Mims made TJ look like a child tonight. Our D sucks against better than average QBs.
It sucks to admit it, but it's obvious that TJ is on the backside of his prime. If the coaching staff doesnt find a way to get him in favorable matchups with in-game adjustments, this performance is going to become more and more of a regular occurrence.

Tomlin was obviously scared of facing Flacco and it showed with him whining about it earlier in the week.

Why can't Tomlin defenses adjust and take away the other team's best player? Conversely, TJ was invisible.

I would take my chances by taking away their best WR. What they did there would have them losing 9 out of ten times. It was just a painful watch. Coaches don’t get a pass on the trend that they show.

It was easy to see this one coming... Highest paid Def got smoked by a past-prime qb playing his second game with guys he's never played with... Offense made a game of it with the comeback... Put it in the hands of the Def with under 3 minutes, and well, you know... Look at the next few QBs on the schedule....

I'm not arguing that. But tonight their guys just flat out beat our guys. I really don't know what else the coaches could have done. The pass rush couldn't win, either.
That is the very definition of coaching. Figuring out how to make adjustments when your players are struggling.

Is TJ Watt hurt? He was almost non-existent except for one play. Cam Heyward had a sack, but he looked fat and slow most of the night. I remember when Joel Steed's legs went. He was great one year, then gone. The game plan was complete **** on defense. Just let Chase and Higgins run free all night. I would rather see them get beaten in man-to-man coverage. At least you get to hammer them on the line. That was the softest coverage I have ever seen. *******.

I know what you are saying, and it would have credence if they actually stopped the other guys. Everyone was open. The Bengals just would have gone somewhere else.

Tomlin’s obsession with 2DL is ******* ludicrous.

This game was a typical Tomlin special. Favored to win against what had been a bad team the last four games with zero running game and QB play. The Steelers helped Fields look like an all pro the first game and did the same tonight with Flacco and their running game.

Seriously, how many times does Chase have to catch the ball, or your DL get zero pressure, without making a change that actually helps? If not for Rodgers this would have been a Tomlin 30-10 beat down special against a bad team. Tomlin has historically been unable, unprepared, or unwilling to change his defensive game plan during games like tonight. The team simply could not stop Flacco and Chase/Higgins.

What an embarrassment on defense against a mostly washed up guy at QB that had been benched two weeks ago by the Browns.

Again they can’t X and O their way out of a paper bag. This is an old old problem not a one game episode. Austin should be canned yesterday he is as bad as Canada. Just bad. And they can take the scheme with them.
