Give me a fn break. Who comes up with this ****? (We actually know). You have Morgan Freeman narrating a commercial about ammoydopolosis or some **** with wind turbines and rainbows scattered about with Morgan carrying on with everyone like he's a survivor of ammoydopolosis only to find out in the small print that he indeed is not a survivor. He never even had ammoydopolosis...So he's just trespassing in a gym hugging and carrying on with strangers for no apparent reason...😂. C'mon you can do better than that....I know you all miss the days when drugs were mandatory in order for hard working folks to keep their jobs to feed their families but you can do better than that if you at least try....Ahh the good ol days...

RFK Jr. has said for 20 years that drug companies don't spend hundreds of millions - billions - on commercials for prescription drugs that viewers cannot buy without a prescription for the drugs to increase sales; they do so to bribe mass media from reporting the truth about drug companies.

And it works.

Take a look at the connection between teenage mass shootings and SSRI's. Number of mass media reports on this topic? Zero.

Huh, must be because the topic has no appeal to the general public, or no scientific basis, or no potential for preventing horrible deaths. Uhh, no, no and no. What other possible explanation could there be? Cannot think of one, nope, no siree.

Commercials for tobacco products were removed from the airwaves decades ago and even alcohol commercials are not permitted to show actual consumption.
Prescription drugs ads should go away as well, all they do is put undue pressure on practitioners to prescribe a product that the consumer is certain that they need.
And sorry Jimmy, but the Lerner & Rowe guys should see the same fate.

You cannot possibly suggest that my incredibly prestigious firm be the subject of any business decline! You want information on the incredible staff here, just look us up at Dewey, Cheatham & Howe!

But be forewarned, we are incredibly selective and will NOT take your case unless you can afford the retainer!

In a wreck, get a check, then watch insurance rates go up for everyone. Where do you think those checks come from?

Free money! It magically arises just like the Fed government's ability to make money out of thin air!

Or are you saying you don't believe in magic?

A lifetime ago, Mrs. Zona and I lived in a small college town north of Pittsburgh (Grove City). This was before the days of Morgan & Morgan telling you how great they are.
A good friend had his own practice in town, and while he was a smart guy, did struggle to make ends meet.

I can think of one possible explanation - SSRI's are prescribed for mental health issues, so it could be the mental health issues that are the main drivers of the mass shootings. Lots of people have a better quality of life due to SSRI's and have absolutely no desire to go out and kill or injure people. It may even be the case that without SSRI's there may be more mass shootings as people whose moods are currently stabilised with SSRI assistance may be more unstable.

Absolutely possible. However, what data exists for evaluating young patients who have significant adverse mental health problems due in large part to the billion-dollar industry drugs?

Also, I of course acknowledge that almost every facet of life has changed over the last 100 years - diet, living conditions, vaccines, education, the number of fathers in homes, kids using prescribed and recreational drugs, etc. - but can we at least acknowledge the massive mental health problems of today's youth compared to kids 100 years ago?? And admit that drugs are not the cure since before those drugs existed, these mental health problems literally did not exist anywhere remotely close to what we see today?

Finally, these drugs are not a cure and are plainly not the long-term answer to what is happening with the mental health of juveniles. Children today are safer and less likely to die than at any point in human history and yet are wracked with these debilitating mental problems. The problems have nothing to do with some fictional levels of "brain chemistry" and instead are directly related to the fact kids sit inside all day staring at screens. Get out of the damn house, hang out with other kids and get some exercise!

You mentioned recreational drugs.. I'm beginning to think everyone under 30 is on dope and whatever is in it these days is scrambling their brains. Hell you smell the stuff everywhere when you get near a city. I can be working out in the yard and smell it from the occasional car going and yep it's a kid driving...

And the idea that marijuana is harmless ignores the fact that current versions of the drug are much more powerful than the pot available when I grew up, and that a significant number of young people develop serious paranoia and delusions from obsessive pot smoking.

Some legalization proponents claim that other countries where marijuana is widely available have fewer mental-health problems than the U.S. But a study from Denmark last summer found that schizophrenia cases associated with pot addiction have increased three- to fourfold over the past 20 years as marijuana potency rose 200%. Young people are especially vulnerable to cannabis’s effects because their brains are still developing. Scientists in a recent study reviewed scans of teenagers’ brains before and after they started using pot. They found that parts of the brain involved in decision making and morality judgments were altered in pot users compared to nonusers.

Cannabis Use and Violent Crime

The theory that changing how a brain functions is good for us is ludicrous.

The Dems have brought pot and legalized gambling to VA. Thanks...

My wife and I stopped by a local convenience store last night on the way home from dinner and it has the VA gambling machines in there. The people playing them looked like drugged out lab rats hitting the button for pellets. Just watching their money going back to the state...When Youngkin was elected, he and the Republican majority put a halt to them but as the state house was eventually taken over by Democrats they reinstalled them

I can't believe our representatives were so stupid/corrupt to make this **** legal.

So the question of course is, "Why would elected officials permit and indeed promote self-destructive behaviors?" Two reasons that are inextricably interlinked.
  1. They get paid to allow/promote such behaviors.
  2. The population that elects them are anesthetized by such behaviors and become more compliant, less resistant to inane governmental edicts that give the same political "leaders" more power and money.
I get that the libertarian view is, "Let people do what they want so long as they don't harm others." But more and more I realize that philosophy caters to the politicians who seek to control and suppress the population.

Revenue > public safety and wellbeing.

I actually agree with you there. Two of the biggest changes in the last thirty years are kids spend a lot more time indoors in front of screens and they spend less time interactiing with parents. Autism and ADHD barely existed when I was a teenager in the 1980's, now every second kid seems to be "living with" them. Not to mention we seem to always be looking for reasons/excuses for kids not being perfectly behaved or not having an IQ of 150.

Agreed, but the problem with gambling addiction is that it doesn't always harm only the gambler, it also financially harms the family of the gambler.

Oh no doubt. And drug abuse harms the family, as does alcohol abuse, and brain-altering drugs, and on and on.

The point is that our government actively promotes behavior that results in self-harm. I don't think anybody can dispute the point.

Revenue > public safety and wellbeing.
They are generating a revenue while reclaiming a large portion of taxpayer funds. All while creating more problems they can steal more taxpayer money to “fix”

As does any other bad decision
