Initial Thoughts on bungles Game

One thing I noticed, when Rudolph was in, they ran a lot more plays with the QB under center. Rarely see Rodgers under center. I think that actually helped.

But wouldn’t that give the offensive line a lesser advantage at pass protection?
Yet it seemed the O line played better with Rudy.
Unless I was imagining things.

Rodgers has 14 carries for 26 yrds with 2 first downs and a fumble lost. His longest run is 10 yrds so the other 13 carries he got 16 yrds total. Last year with the Jets he had 22 carries for 107 yrds. Several plays he has open field in front he just can not get there. Rodgers seems to move laterally ok, but if he has to turn it up field he can't. Ben's stats the last 2yrs were beyond awful. He had 45 carries for 16 yrds. I'm not sure how that is even possible.
Rodgers seems like he is in a bad mental place right now. He has taken a few bad sacks, missed open guys, and looks a little lost. I feel that he can snap out of it and he definitely still has the arm. I feel he has no confidence in the line and kinda gives up.
Don't forget each end of half and end of game kneel counts as a carry for -1.

I think the fact that the OL knows Rudy will hang in the pocket and make the throw. NO happy feet allows to OPL to be able know his where-about and can protect in a more “informed” way.

Also the team has always shown Rudolf great respect and one can tell they want to play for him.

This is not a knock on Aaaa-Ron, I just know that could all contribute to the difference in better play.

They also know Aaron has a quicker release so they know they better stay on their blocks longer.

Not sure AR is the scrambler he once was so their pocket presence might be more similar now. One can just throw it longer and the other quicker. I also think AR is better tight window capable . Maybe a combination of better vision and or that quicker release…

Mason can play well with back to the LOS
He can play under center

This ultimately should always give the run game of AS more variables and ability to use more of his playbook as his run heavy system isn’t built for running out 13 personnel with shotgun/pistol formations. The run game should be better with Rudy or any QB capable of playing under center.

With Aaron’s gimpy old man wrist he couldn’t take a Snap from under center so over half the playbook is shat upon. The geriatric QB barely even plays under center when his old gimpy bones aren’t broke.

The other way Rudy is an actual round peg for AS system is he excels when the play stays on schedule and the scheme yields open receivers. He’s not great with improvisation and formerly his OC couldn’t draw up a play to stay on schedule.

I’d definitely be interested to see what Rudy can do with a week of preparation. He didn’t look too bad coming off the bench.

Even if Aaron says he can go give the dinosaur a veteran’s week off to rest up even if the wrist is playable. A second and/or possibly a third bye week can’t hurt the old chap. Rest them bones ole fella.
