Dems in congress call on active duty military to disobey "illegal orders"

Nah, I've looked like this a looooong time. Can't wait for actual election season though, it will be riveting stupidity for all the extremists in both parties.
I am glad you think fighting for our countries existence is extremism.
Just pop some more popcorn and keep watching this country go to pot.

LOL, you're awful sensitive about me essentially saying the extremists in both parties make the political landscape a joke. I vote, always. I don't get caught up in meme fact posting and stupid ****. I watch FOX and CNN so that when I talk to someone, I can understand them and have a conversation instead of name calling like an idiot.

You conveniently put me on a side that doesn't care about what's currently happening around us. I can assure you; I do. Save your soap box hyperbole nonsense for someone who actually cares to engage in it. I do not.

Your are awfully sensitive about everyones posts on a message board. Calling people extremists for posting their views.
You do know that is what this board is for right?

If you can’t tell how one sided everything is by now then I have nothing else to say.
Most everyone I know can tell. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist.

How about you save me some time and tell me who is fighting for this Country's existence and how? No nonsense, what you believe is in jeopardy and why. Simple enough, right? Nothing anyone says regarding politics gets me emotional. Folks get wound up and want to fight for rich ******** who wouldn't piss on you to save your life if you were on fire at their feet. ALL of them.

I don’t have time to type the information.
It is out there for everyone to see and research.
Let’s leave it at that.

I defy anyone to disagree.
I don’t like them. Sure, I can take down a wife-made turkey sammich or next day chili, but I like my food to be fresh. Chicken or fish 24-48 hours later, hard no.

How about save yourself some time. Restrict yourself to the football forum where you’re not so easily offended.

Well one side wants open borders, Tranzing kids, wealth redistribution(communism) government run healthcare(communism) "free" child care(also communism) a centrally planed economy(even MOAR communism) "free" college(communist indoctrination) and abolishing the US Constitution because it was written by "white slave holders.

The other side wants to Make America Great Again.

Hope that helps.

and, just like magical unicorns appearing, seems some military are questioning the orders they receive - or may be apprehensive to follow orders. Precisely what this country needs from its military.

(The Hill) – There is an increasing apprehension among service members that they may be asked to carry out an illegal order, amid reports Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered troops to “kill everybody” in a boat strike in September.

The concerns, reflected in an uptick in calls to the Orders Project — which provides free legal advice to military personnel — come from the likes of staff officers involved in planning the strikes on supposed drug-carrying boats and those in charge of designating those on the vessels as a threat in order to carry out such attacks.

Even as a reported Justice Department classified memo from this summer preemptively argued that U.S. troops involved in the strikes would not be in legal jeopardy, service members appear far more concerned than usual that the U.S. military may be opening them up to legal harm, according to Frank Rosenblatt, president of the National Institute of Military Justice, which runs the Orders Project.

“They have questions, because this didn’t come up before. This was never an issue throughout both administrations of the global war on terror in Iraq or Afghanistan. No one ever came down and said, ‘You’re immunized for any potential crimes you commit,’” Rosenblatt told The Hill of the increase in calls to his organization. Established in 2020, he said such “activity was generally very low until three months ago.”

“I think most people knew they did their jobs faithfully and didn’t do things that are beyond the pale, like executing civilians, that they would be OK and wouldn’t be prosecuted. So now to have this immunity as part of the discussion really tends to chill people and make them ask, ‘What the heck’s going on? What is it that I might be asked to do?’” he added.

Service members’ uncertainty over whether they will be asked to carry out an illegal order or pressured to go against their training is likely to be exacerbated after The Washington Post and CNN late last week reported that Hegseth authorized a highly unusual strike to kill all survivors aboard a boat allegedly carrying drugs in the Caribbean Sea this fall.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Monday that on Sept. 2, Hegseth authorized Adm. Frank Bradley to carry out a follow-up strike on an alleged drug boat in the Caribbean; the strike reportedly killed two people who were hanging onto the burning vessel, having survived an initial strike.

“President Trump and Secretary Hegseth have made it clear that presidentially designated narco-terrorist groups are subject to lethal targeting in accordance with the laws of war,” Leavitt said. “Adm. Bradley worked well within his authority and the law to ensure the boat was destroyed and the threat to the United States of America was eliminated.”

The situation also comes as Trump has sparred with six congressional Democrats over a video from last month reminding service members that they can defy illegal military orders. Trump has called for the lawmakers — who all have military or national security backgrounds — to face arrest and trial for what he called “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”

But lawmakers from both parties, as well as former officials, have raised alarms that Hegseth may have committed a war crime. Included among them is former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who said Monday he doesn’t “think there’s any question” the second U.S. strike on the alleged drug boat was a war crime.

Service members are worried about the same possibility, according to Rosenblatt, who said call activity to the Orders Project was “generally very low until three months ago,” when the Trump administration began targeting alleged drug-carrying boats. The administration has disclosed 21 strikes that have killed at least 83 people.

He described several calls to the organization, including one from a person who could potentially be involved in the strikes.

“We had one issue of a person who is going to an upcoming assignment, and wanted to know what their options were, because they thought they may be involved in some of these strikes where the legal basis right now is at best contested,” Rosenblatt said. “This person had questions, saying, ‘I don’t want to be doing something that is illegal, that I could get in trouble for later.’”

Rosenblatt also referenced a staff officer — someone meant to apply their niche expertise to a drafted plan — who was asked to apply their knowledge to a document that designated the individuals being targeted as the enemy, thus allowing the U.S. to attack under the rules of war.

“This person applied their expertise and said, ‘No, this doesn’t meet the standards of my expertise.’ And this person called us because they said, ‘I felt a lot of pressure after I made that decision,’” Rosenblatt said.

While the individual’s action did not constitute a veto on the strikes, they said they were pressured by very senior political appointees to show that there was a unanimous agreement among military officers that the strikes are legally compliant.

“And so what do I do? I’m feeling pressure. I feel like I’m ostracized. I’m being treated like I’m not a team player,” the individual asked, as paraphrased by Rosenblatt. “I want to know the next time this comes, what I should do? I worry if I keep sticking my guns on this, it’s going to be a career killer for me.”

Rosenblatt said such concerns show a deeper issue service members face beyond being asked to carry out a potentially illegal order: the possibility of being pressured to bend their standards in service of something they don’t feel is right.

“I think, from their perspective, it’s questionable what they may be asked to do,” he said. “I think a lot of people are watching and concerned.”

Anyone with an IQ higher than 40 knows that the video staring 6 members of Congress was nothing more than a political prank meant to undermine the Executive Branch.

Apparently, the War Department will be asking a few questions of American Hero and Astronaut, Mark Kelly resulting in absolutely nothing but wasted time and tax dollars.

However, I would like to see 3 questions asked of the honorable Senator from Arizona (scoff, scoff)

1. Senator, how many of your fellow members of Congress received the script used in the video with your 5 colleagues? Ruben Gallego has confirmed that he received a copy, how many others?
2. Why did you believe it necessary to make the video?
3. Specifically, where did the script for the video originate?

We all know that politicians and certain forum members don't answer direct questions, these are just random thoughts on my part.

Well imagine that.
Purposely and casting doubt into young men and women who have volunteered to serve the United States of America.
Everyone can see how divided the country is today among us civilians. However, when you have political leaders purposel causing doubt in the very people that have committed to protecting this nation, well that is one very concerning situation that I thought I would never see in my lifetime.

There was obviously only one reason that the countries democratic politicians are purposely acting and speaking in this manner. I’ve always wanted to not believe that it would come to such a sad state of affairs, but I cannot justify in my mind any other reason than to cause division, not only amongst the us civilians, but now within our very own military personnel.

This is bad, very bad and I see no other endgame objective of what is going down right now, then the one staring us right in the face

The way I see it, is that most of the violence and rhetoric is coming from one side. I know one thing for sure. Most of the bullets are coming from one direction too.

On a personal note, less than 2 years ago I found my son unresponsive on the bathroom floor and if not for the heroic efforts (4 doses of naloxone to bring him around) of the Phoenix fire department, I would have lost him. Today he is doing better, clean and employed, but I'm always fearful of a relapse.

So, to those that condemn President Trump for blowing up those that bring this poison into our country out of the water, I can only say **** you!!!

And as a side note, I personally know 3 other families that have lost a child to fentanyl, so again, **** you!

I'm a funeral director and I couldn't tell you how many times I've had to pick up crying parents and grandparents off the floor and help them to a chair when they see their child lying dead in a casket from a drug overdose. I work for a direct cremation place now but I had an OD case in September. 32 year-old mother of two and now she'd dead and her kids are orphans.
