I thought JPJ had a rough start to the season, but turned it on and is playing very good football.

Absolute trash call? Bullshit. Porter grabbed the jersey with his left hand, and you can see it being pulled away from the receiver's body. A clear penalty. But gee, I guess if Tony Romo wouldn't have called it, it can't possibly be a penalty, right? That first PI was absolute trash call. Porter has a reputation from college that doesn't give him the benefit of the doubt. I watch DB's across the league do exactly what he does and not get half the calls he does.
The second call, Hopkins runs into him and is holding him just as much...but that's just a crafty veteran move right? But don't forget, we aren't even in that position if Highsmith doesn't trip over air and fall into the neutral zone giving them a first down when it was 3rd and 2.
My answer to that would be that he is not our best cover corner and number 42 seems to be with my eye test.Absolute trash call? Bullshit. The second call was TEXTBOOK illegal contact. Porter put his hands on Hopkins right off the snap, and kept them there for another 10 yards down the field. I don't know what some of you guys are watching. You see what you want to see.
And just curious, if JPJ is such a wonderful cover corner (by God, he's the top CB in the entire league according to some fantasy football site's metric!), why was he man-to-man with DeAndre Hopkins on these two plays, beaten twice by a 33-year-old with 17 catches in 13 games this year? Why isn't he covering Baltimore's best receiver, Zay Flowers, who meanwhile ended up with 8 catches for 124 yards in this game?
Yes, absolute trash call. And who said anything about Tony ******* Romo? No, he didn't turn him at all, he didn't prevent him from getting to the ball. And you can see tugs, grabs, and small pulls on every god damn play by DB's. It's hard enough to play the position as it is... but sure "clear penalty". The illegal contact, Hopkins runs right into Porter (they were in zone btw), and he grabbed Porter as well. They basically hugged each other. Believe it or not, the DB is entitled to his space as much as the WR is. The WR can't just run into the DB and move him.Absolute trash call? Bullshit. You don't have to "turn him." When a referee sees the jersey clearly pulled away from the receiver's body like that, it's going to be called 90+% of the time. Whether it's your hero doing the grabbing and pulling, or somebody else.Yes, absolute trash call. And who said anything about Tony ******* Romo? Talk about seeing what you want to see, the second call, the illegal contact call, Porter was OFF the LOS.
Or maybe they just don't think he's good enough. Which is also entirely possible. As for why was Porter on Hopkins and not Flowers? You'll have to ask Tomlin. Why do they line up 10 yards off the LOS when it's 3rd and 5? Why do they not move Watt around more? Why don't the run the fire blitz? Why don't they run more stunts (they work when they do run them). What we do know is that Porter does not follow the top WR around, none of the DB's do. I saw Pierre on Flowers, I saw Echols on Flowers, I saw Ramsey on Flowers...
Both of those calls were legitimate. You can try to explain them away like you futilely attempted to above, but literally anybody with a set of eyeballs and a DVR can plainly see that they were both penalties. He has a overly handsy "reputation" that he earned back at Penn State, and nothing has changed. Except now it's Steelers fans instead of PSU fans making all sorts of excuses for the guy. Carry on.We get it, you don't like Porter. But he gets more "reputation" calls than actual calls. And he still hasn't allowed a TD this year. The days of having "Revis Island" type corners are gone. The rules are too skewed to the offensive side. Now this doesn't mean that I think that Porter is the best in the league, he is pretty damn good tho. But the **** he catches from Steeler fans, specifically from this board is a little over reactions...
