Broderick Jones could be returning this Sunday against the Cleveland Browns after suffering a stinger 3 weeks ago.

My question is do you give him the starting job back?

Dylan Cook has looked really pretty darn good and the running game has improved especially over the left side.

I know Tomlin always stands with his starters when it comes to injuries but you've really gotta be clueless if Broderick Jones gets his starting job back!

Best case scenario in this situation would be that the Browns and ravens games are meaningless to the Steelers, and they could work Broderick back in into the lineup to see how the running game and pass protection is affected.
If the offensive line continues to play as well as they have with Jones back then I would return him into a starting role,
Knowing all too well, that we have someone waiting to be inserted back in the lineup if Jones’ play starts to become below the line again

BJ is on

BJ is on Injured Reserve. Geez...

Nice catch. I had forgotten that Baltimore plays again on Saturday, so our game aginst the Stains may be meaningless. Hope it is and we get some Howard the next 2 weeks.

Cook should be the starter...I saw him have one really bad play where AR took a sack, but his help also missed Hutch. You also have to factor in he Hutchinson is a premiere pass rusher and sometimes you get beat. On one of Warren's runs i specifically noticed him blocking multiple guys. He shoved someone out of the way at the line then was probably 5yrds downfield blocking someone else. I think i heard that he graded out as the best linemen in the NFL the previous week. I take those ratings with a grain of salt, but he passsed the eye test as well. I don't see how you can take him off the field, but it's Tomlin.

Maybe I had a different read on Jones' injury, but I didn't get the sense he would be back during the regular season, possibly at all this year.
I think it is false report.

Week 17 was the earliest he COULD return because putting him on IR means his misses a minimum of 4 games. Doesn't mean he WILL return. The injury was definitely more than a stinger, but never really expanded on...

Dont believe it was just a stinger.. Stinger isnt going to send a #1 pick to the IR
After the game they said it was a more serious nevk injury and put him on IR.. he was hurt in the Bears game. He missed 4 games and is technically eligible to return, but I dont think he was expected to be back this season

Taking Cook off the field would be coaching malpractice.
The whole offense looks better with Cook at LT
Too small of a sample size to make that claim. Lets see how Cook looks against Garrett. The offense has been completely different lately, but it wasn't because of Cook, it's being called different, they are taking more shots downfield, Muth is getting more snaps, they aren't trying as many sweeps...well, until the fourth quarter of games that is...

Yes the offense has been better but if you watch cook he looks much more fluid and athletic. He did well against Hutchinson and very well the previous game. Sure it is a small sample size but he still played better and more consistent than Jones. Jones had been playing better but not great and you still never know when the human turnstile or penalty machine will show up. I just see no reason to take Cook off the field right now. You have to roll with the hot hand

Agreed, sample size is small, but definitely looks like a big upgrade from what we've seen.
Garrett can make anyone look like a bum, should be interesting.

I'm old enough to remember when people were bashing PFF for Jones' poor grades because they wanted to believe he was better than he was. These guys know what they're doing, Cook passed the eye test so well that in two weeks everyone can now see what a competent LT looks like.

Jones:
Overall: 57.7
Run Blocking: 50.6
Pass Blocking: 59.0

Cook:
Overall: 72.2
Run Blocking: 61.4
Pass Blocking: 80.2

You didn't need PFF to tell you how Jones was playing. All you needed to do was watch the game or some film breakdowns.

We need to see more from Cook, exciting to think this Kid could only be getting started, building confidence and trust.
I wasn't aware he was a QB in college. Before switching to RT. Could he be just as good on both sides??
Everything I hear on this kid gets me more optimistic!
Hopefully that means even more room for growth than a guy playing the position his whole life. Also he may be able to see the field from a different perspective being former QB.
Imagine if Cook ends up being a stud Left tackle accidentally out of nowhere due to injury?
Like when Willie Parker Broke out of nowhere, went to the stratosphere.
One can dream;)

Credit to Kozora. called him out a year ago as camp sleeper. Good youtube video on it.
