Probably YMCA or Twist and Shout. I was a wedding DJ primarily, so I did all those songs you hear at every wedding.

All the time. It got really stupid when the internet started all those "Indie" streaming services. I had to either get illegal music, or put out the cash for songs I knew I would play only once. That sucked. The worst thing about those types of weddings ("We don't want all those songs played at every wedding!") is that the uncles, aunts, grand parents, etc., hate the music and leave. I have warned many a couple that if they only play the music they listen to, about eight people will like it. No one else. Most couples would listen. Some would not care.

The funny part is that when I found a song that "worked" I really started to like it. I like good songs, don't care the style - rap (the only word in English with a silent "C"), country, rock, punk, you name it. If it worked, I liked it.

A good DJ will get a crowd into a groove, where you can play darned near anything. A bad DJ can't get people dancing even with good dance music. Towards the end, I felt that I wasn't relating to the crowds anymore. I was about 57 or so, so it didn't surprise me. I have a couple of buddies who are in their mid to late 60s and still getting it done. I just didn't have it anymore. Super cool with that. I did my time. I don't miss the 14 hour days, the heavy stuff being brought up stairs, the drunks, the gay couples, etc. It was time. I was actually a pretty good one for years. No more.

Thanks for relaying the insights of the DJ. I bet it was a lot more fun in the Wolfman Jack era.

Haha. Radio is 1,000% different from live crowd DJing. I have been on internet radio twice. I am currently on an online show. I do M-F noon-1pm CST. www.thechristianmix.com

I do the "Oldies Cafe" show at noon. Then another hour of radio stuff. I love it. Don't get paid for it, but it's super fun. This on has as it's tagline - "The Classics of Yesterday. The Hits of Today." So, it's fun. The last one was called Station 540. It was extreme speed metal. Really odd, but I enjoyed the on air stuff, so I went with it. It didn't last. No huge surprise.

Anyway. Thanks for following me down memory lane.

It doesn't pay....well,,,, anything. And I only have one follower. That's Mr Lunar,,, and he's not well, as you probably are aware....So it's pretty much just me entertaining myself. But I have a good time. 🤪
