I often argue against "The NFL is scripted" nutters

IMO if it were scripted, the Giants and Jets would be good, the Cowboys would be winning more, the NFL would not want Mahomes and Burrow out of the post season.
America has had enough of Mahomes and State Farm. And nobody gives a **** about Cincinnati except for WKRP

Not true. No game was slotted into any time slot until the end of the Sunday night game.
Actually, it was. Someone here posted it in another thread, and I was like "What?!" looked it up and saw that it was slated for 8:20PM. When I told my son about it and looked it up again to show him it changed to TBD. I wish I would have taken a screen scrape of it.

Exactly how much and of what were you drinking/smoking during the game?

Seems awfully convenient the league changed the gametime back just before your son could see it. They might be watching you.

****Cue the "Twilight Zone" music******

Maybe because the Jets are so bad that even scripting wouldn’t help. LOL

They did get to the AFC title game against the Steelers awhile back.

They only lost by five points, so you'd think the refs could have squeezed it out if they wanted to.

It doesn’t make be believe that the game is rigged, it makes me believe that the officiating is terrible.

MLB plays a 162 game schedule and officiating is a full time job.
The NBA plays an 82 game and officiating is also a full time job.

The NFL plays a 17 game schedule and the refs tend to their real jobs during the week and when the season is over.
The quality just isn’t there.

There are typically way roo many people that have to be in on scripting the NFL games, but this was too obvious like they don't care who knows. They obviously wanted the division to come down to Ravens Steelers. The game was decided before Kick-off.
It's all about money and getting that prime time game is all Goddell cares about. They are getting a lot of flak now for how crooked they are. It could destroy the NFL.

Yeah. I just put that video up because I thought it was interesting.

The average starting pay is about 100k...that quickly goes up to 250k after a few years. So they are well paid. I think the problem is they should be full time and not employed elsewhere or small business owners who might have other things on their mind as they are looking for holding on the offensive line.

Make them full time. In the off season have them constantly training. I read an article that said doubling their salaries to have them full time would only cost the multi billion dollar in profits NFL 20 million per year...yet they won't do it.

Create a points system where after so many blatant errors you are removed. I'm sure plenty of people would want that 500,000 dollar job.

Horse races and boxing matches are rigged regularly

Abd we know pro abd college sports have been rigged, and honestly if not for other investigations nobody would have ever even known... just because the NFL hasnt had one exposed doesnt mean it doesnt happen... it absolutely does because there is wayyy too much money at stake
People talk about games being rigged but I’ve never heard anyone explain or even speculate how it would actually be carried out in the NFL.

I'm not ready to say the whole thing is rigged or scripted but I do think the league uses the refs to put their thumb on the scale to aid in desired outcomes.
Witness the PI non-call at the end of the Stillers-Browns game. Plain as day.
It's either that or the refs are incompetent. Our games with the Lions and Browns are two of the worst officiated games I've ever seen, on both sides.

Patriots vs. Falcons Superbowl

Do you HONESTLY think that game wasn't rigged???

Yes, correct. Absolutely, 100% not rigged.

To think that a SUPERBOWL, OF ALL GAMES, could be rigged to where one team goes by up FOUR TOUCHDOWNS and then the other team manages to come aaaaaalll the way back and win in OT, is stupendously ridiculous. I'm sorry Berm, I like you, I think you're a good dude with a heart of gold, but if you actually think that, then I can't help but to wonder about your willingness to apply logic and critically think.

IMO..
The nfl needs to adopt the college PI enforcement rules.

That's fine but I will never believe that ATL just forgot how to play football for the last 16 minutes of the game.

I hold no angst for anyone that disagrees because everyone deserves to provide an opinion, well, not everybody but you know what I mean...

If big comebacks in postseason games are accepted to be rigged, then we have to agree this was also rigged. Not my game, not my rules.

Didnt forget how to play?? Lol ok Berm.

Of course they didnt "forget how to play". Adjustments happen. Teams overthinking to their detriment happens. Teams getting tight in crunch time happens. Momentum actually IS a thing, regardless of what some here might choose to believe.

I don't believe the games are "rigged," meaning pre-determined with a script of some type. I will tell you that refs come in with a pre-determined mindset about certain players, and will look to call OPI on Metcalf because he is a "physical" receiver and look to call JPJ for DPI or illegal contact because he has a "reputation" for such offenses.

Those pre-determinations play a huge role in what the refs call. HUGE. Surtain and Stingley, Jr. are elite and do not get called for the same stuff JPJ gets flagged on regularly. Chase is a beast and gets away with shoving defensive backs off him while Metcalf gets flagged. I don't think anybody who watches these games can disagree with those facts.

I agree with that, but I also feel that a lot of those guys get favorable calls based on their relationships on the field with the referee especially, the back judges when it comes to defensive backs and wide receivers

I don't have a link, but remember a ref telling Ben that he doesn't get the same calls as marcia because he is a physical QB. That's so lame that it is basically refs interfering in the game. Thnk - "favoritism" or "fix" or don't. Not sure how anyone can't think it isn't refs impacting a game.

I also don't think this would be the right way to rig the SB. I'm sure several people turned it off thinking the game was over. It was kind of like the Chiefs when they got demolished by the Eagles? KC had no answer for the Eagles front
