I often argue against "The NFL is scripted" nutters

I don't see how anyone could watch the game and say it was rigged. Yes there was a bad OPI which was negated by a bad taunting call. Browns had several penalties when they were trying to ice the game away. As for replay assist it only corrects bad calls it doesn't "add" penalties. 99% of the time it is correct. Every team gets away with holding if not the games would be a flag fest. I did not see obvious DPIs missed against us. I saw WRs running wrong or crappy routes and dropping balls. I'm sure the NFL told Rodgers to throw it down the field then try 3 bad passes to a bad WR to lose the game. I'm sure the NFL told Boz to miss the FG and make tomlin go for it instead of another FG. To say this game was fixed when it looks like 90% of our other games is ridiculous.

On a side note the FBI certainly watches betting lines. There was a UFC fight about a month ago with suspicious activity. I think all bets were refunded and as as I know it's still being investigated

REPLAY ASSIST can easily be used to alter a call or overturn a penalty flag to effect the outcome of a drive and influence the outcome of a game and you wouldn't even know it! IMO it happened today....both times MVS was involved in an OPI.....Replay Assist we are told is used on every play.....well if it is it wasn't used properly to overturn the call against MVS for OPI. However later in the 3rd Quarter it was used on a completed pass to MVS as the flag was picked up after the completion by Replay Assist. It was also used today in the Bills game after a Fair Catch was interfered with but no flag was thrown against the Bills. After Replay Assist the Bills were flagged for Interference on the Fair Catch.

You are being played like a SAP on every play as a fan and you have no idea it's even happening!

I actually feel bad for the fans but even worse for the players who don't realize the impact Replay Assist is having on the outcome of NFL games while they are playing their ***** off and taking brutal hits and laying their bodies on the line for the game they love and not knowing the full scope of what's really happening out there!

If you look at it with an open mind it's hard to not believe what your eyes are witnessing!
Lol good Lord

Okay, so you're done watching, right? I take it this means you will no longer be watching professional football?

There are typically way roo many people that have to be in on scripting the NFL games, but this was too obvious like they don't care who knows. They obviously wanted the division to come down to Ravens Steelers. The game was decided before Kick-off.
There were some bad calls but there is zero excuse for what happened today.
Mvs is even worse than I remember.

Our entire Wr room came from some other practice squad.
Let that sink in

Tim Donaghy Rigged games in the nba from 2003-2006 and the only reason the FBI ever figured it out was they wiretapped someone over a completely different crime and there was a phonecall picked up that ultimeately exposed him...

Every single NFL game has around 50 million bet legally on it, and tens of millions more illegally bet on it... you arent monitoring all of that

If you get onto the youtube and do some research, there is some shady **** that makes me believe that at the very least there is point shaving, but there is also evidence that makes me believe there is somewhat of a script. I saw one clip recently where this NFL guy is on the field in a green shirt and one of the guys holding the sticks leans over to him and seemingly asks him a question to which he responds with a false start signal, the stick guy nods as if to say "okay", and sure enough, there was a false start on the play. Former players have said they received a script on podcasts, but I'm pretty sure the NFL would have some kind of non-disclosure with players.

All I know is that before the Steelers played the Browns, the Raven's game was scheduled to Sunday Night Football. Why would you put a meaningless game in prime time unless it had implications?

The false start motion from the NFL official that is not in stripes and on the sideline is to remind the on field crew that it's 4th down and the fumble rule is in effect...meaning if the ball is fumbled only the fumbling player can advance it on 4th. There are several similar to on field official hand motions that don't mean the same thing when the sideline guy does it. They are to keep so many mistakes from happening as the on field guys are wrapped up in the action and might lose track of down, distance, time, etc.

You don't think they actually have a guy on the sideline in front of cameras and the whole stadium signalling in cheat codes do you?

I think the bad OPI call was the reason for the bad taunting call. A make-up call if you will.
Steelers might have won if they make the DPI call on the last or next-to-last play, I forget. It was very obvious though. I don't know how they miss that when they call all sorts of other ticky-tacky stuff.

perhaps you're right, perhaps you're not. Only Rog and a few others know for sure. But, it doesn't excuse the fact that so many players have been caught doing irrational things on the field that makes one question the validity of the NFL. IF you're looking that is.

People do irrational **** all the time, especially when making quick decisions under pressure.

I would think any such clause wouldn't be enforceable. I assume fixing the outcome of sporting events is a criminal offence in the United States, like it is in most other parts of the world.

The NFL isn't a sport, it's listed as a "Sports Entertainment" business to allow legal flexibility much like the WWE. But wrestling is totally real and not scripted, right?

Bingo! It's entertainment.

So why do any of you who think it's scripted watch? When the Steelers beat the Seahawks and Cardinals, did you celebrate?

Sorry, this sounds like typical sour grapes from fans of any team after they lose. Refs, fixed, etc.

With Metcalf and Austin out, the Steelers had zero serious speed at WR against one of the best secondaries in the league.

In hindsight, we maybe shouldn't be quite as shocked by the outcome as we were.

It still does not excuse putting the receivers at an even bigger disadvantage by avoiding in-breaking routes and ignoring Freiermuth for much of the game after Washington went out.

It also makes you wonder just how repugnant Roman Wilson has to be in the eyes of the coaches to hardly see the field with both Metcalf and Austin out.

At least the kid can run.

IMO if it were scripted, the Giants and Jets would be good, the Cowboys would be winning more, the NFL would not want Mahomes and Burrow out of the post season.

Go to the NFL operations page and you'll see there is a whole team of officials at each game wearing different colors....it's like old school Star Trek... don't know if it goes bad for the guy in red....LOL. From guys that make sure the replay equipment is working properly and bring it to the on field officials to the guy in Teal/blue that you saw that is the field communications guy. He handles replay comms to the on field officials and passes any other information from the booth guys who are also officials. Hence the motion to remember the 4th down rule.

I'm not saying there couldn't be refs on the take or players, just clarifying that it would be epically stupid to have a guy wearing NFL logos signalling in from the sideline to a player to cheat.

The Jets would have been to at least one Superbowl over the past 50 years.

"America's team" hasn't been even to the NFC title game since Bill Clinton's first term in office

The thing is that the NFL doesn't even have the financial incentive to fix games that the other major sports leagues might have.

They're so popular, the interest and ratings are pretty much the same in the playoffs and Superbowl no matter who's playing.

That cannot be said for the NBA or MLB.

MLB executives probably sacrifice children in the name of the Yankees or Dodgers playing in the World Series every year. Ideally both.
