The players saying they love Tomlin and have no problem with him and want him to remain head coach. It’s also being reported they didn’t like Austin or Smith and had big problems with their schemes and philosophy.

My only question is, are these players actually this stupid? Do they know who hires the coordinators? Do they wonder why coordinators keep changing but the results remain the same? Do they not understand who the problem was? They prefer a good friend instead of a good coach.

If the report is true that TJ was “no no no no” with tears in his eyes as Tomlin announced he was leaving, I lost respect for him. Dude, you’ve never even been close to winning a playoff game and you’d rather keep a friend at HC over winning. I find it pathetic honestly.

Have you played for a coach who while not perfect was a great leader? I have, it is hard to part ways. Mike is gone. Do we need to trash guys for missing a guy they played their whole careers with. I think they have better perspective on this than any fan or talking head. You might not have liked Mike, but most players did despite his faults. I appreciate their loyalty. We all get a fresh start now and should be optimistic and excited.

I wanted Tomlin to go, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you here...The man was here for NINETEEN years, you don't think that there is a major attachment emotionally to the man? Watt and Cam haven't had anyone else as a HC in the NFL. I worked for a guy that we had the same overall vision, COMPLETELY different ideas on how to get there and would often butt heads, but when he stepped down, it was a sad time. I'm not gonna fault them for feeling emotional in the moment...

Yes actually we do. If you read the article, they’re blaming the fan base for being to tough on Tomlin. As if Tomlin was there a couple years and then everyone just started booing him. Dude has been there 20 years and hasn’t done **** in 15 years almost. The fans who are paying hundreds if not thousands to attend games have every right to boo the garbage they have to watch.

If they’re going to attack the fan base, I’ll be here to call them out for being losers on the field who have never won anything in Pittsburgh. They sound like a bunch of ******* to me which would explain why they never won anything.

You have to read the article, it’s basically attacking the fan base for being too hard on Tomlin.

I would think things seem a bit different when you're that close to something.
Us fans are on the outside looking in and likely have a much different perspective than those on the inside looking out.
Maybe that’s the problem, Tomlin was a friend, not a coach. Winning is the business model, that team wasn’t run like a business, it was run like a place where everyone had a shoulder to cry on.

I'm not sure which article you're referring to, but I've read several today about the meeting. The only players I've seen that have put their name to blaming or chastising the fans are Rodgers, Cam, and Kuntz... And they are going to see it from a completely different perspective. Again, I'm not going to blame them or get on them for this...

I will instead compare it to a relationship, everyone on the outside can see it's run it's course and the couple are no longer good for each other, but one or the other doesn't feel that way, they are still "in love". Then it ends, and you move on because you don't have a choice, and later on down the road you realize just how bad it was.

Boston Conner made a really good point today on the PMS, he said he's glad they are clear of the Belichick era, but that doesn't mean he can't look back on all the good times they had. Let the initial sting of this wear off, lets see who they bring in, lets see how the off season goes...Then we can check in on the players and how they feel. But right now, it's FRESH

Would that translate to us giving $$$$$$$$, and them taking $$$$$$$$.

If the players are blaming fans for being to hard on the guy, then maybe the guy needed to step up his game.

If he could attract high quality assistants and let them coach he could still win. But unless that is a Steelers problem not a MT problem he's not going to championship contend again. Im not going to **** on the players feelings. But also find them irrelevant.

That’s funny! They think the Pittsburgh fan base and media is too tough, try New York, Philadelphia, or Boston. Brutal, just brutal.
How do you think the media and fans would have reacted in those cities after nine years and zero playoff wins? Or getting thoroughly destroyed on those games?
They would have crucified Tomlin! It wouldn’t have been pretty.

Philly wants Siriani fired after going to the SB in 2 of 3 seasons lol. We haven’t even been competitive in a playoff game in almost 10 but yeah, Tomlin is just an outstanding HC.

Exactly, look at it for what it is.

Players are losing a friend / coach / easy practice life / ect., of course they are butt-hurt, but they will be reminded by the next coach that they were PAID to play and that includes disciplined practices too !!!!

Maybe... We'll see...Not sure what kind of coach Art wants. He might pick someone who makes HCMT look like General Patton

Maybe... We'll see...

I hear yaz, it will have a lot to do with the coach.

I feel tomlin was pretty lose when it came to discipline and accountability, something i hope the new coach has a little better handle on.

He overworked them when he first came aboard. But the newer crowd wouldn’t know that as it has been a long time in between. Time for them to get a new Sheriff and weed out the slackers.

I look forward to the new coach putting his stamp on this team..

My take for a long time has been that the players like him because he doesn't make them work too hard.
No, I'm not on the inside watching practice but the product on the field tells me the coaches and players aren't working real hard.

I have felt that way for years too. The sloppiness, lack of discipline and slow starts were other signs.

Yup.

Fans have every right to voice displeasure. Especially if they’re shelling out hard earned money.

These players who blame the fans don’t realize that income wise they are in a great position.

Then when you couple that in with players such as Troy p. Claiming the same thing…….. I’m confirmed that was/is the case.

Troy also received a phone call from Tomlin telling him he was cut. I don’t believe Troy is too found of the organization, especially Tomlin.

It wasn't just Troy, there were other players as well. I just used Troy because his integrity is above most.

He also spoke of this before he was cut.

I think the opposite, so many things are going around that weren’t even a thought until Tomlin stepped down. Why do fans feel the need to be so negative towards everything.

You can be happy he’s gone and appreciate the years he gave. Both can be done.
Even if you only appreciate the first part of his tenure, then do that, then look ahead.

Porter took it hard, is he dumb for that?
He likely doesn’t even remember a day where somebody else coached this team. For somebody like that where the Steelers were his life, for 2 generations at this point is understandable.

Being sad is ok.
Being happy is ok.
Perspective.
