What Mandate Would You Give New Coach

Blink every now and then.
Don't blow kisses to the crowd.
When Tomlin blew that kiss, he was saying F-you to all fans with hate in his eyes. It was the game after the 10-20k fans chanted Fi-Yer-Tomlin.

X's and O's guy this time who brings with him a brilliant staff from good coaching trees.

My pick would be Shula as HC and Mike McDaniels as OC.

No, it wasn't - the game where he blew the kiss was the Baltimore game. The game after the chants was the win v Detroit where he called out Brooke Pryor after the game.

Lets get back to the Steelers way

1. Draft and develop guys. - always have a backup ready to take over, both for injury and long term if the player moves on. No more drafting special teans aces rather than real players.

2. No more retread players.. once a player leaves, dont bring them back... move on.

3. Let players leave a year too early rather than a year too late.

4. Build a continuity of schemes again. Dont go chasing every fad trend that develops

5. Hire assistant coaches that can grow players.., rebuild the commitment to fundamentals.. dont just expect them to be ready right out of the box

6. Lets get back to performance over pedigree.. cut the Huey Richardsons of the worlds.. dont let Cam Haywood sit behind Ziggy hod for three years just cause Hood was a 1st round pick.

Also Beef up the scouting department. Use more in game analysts to determine strategy.

That he hires competent assistants around him that he can trust. That formulating gameplans includes adjusting to flow of the game and playing our strengths against and exploiting weaknesses. Most importantly draft football players not divas or the strongest and fastest...football players damn it! Oh and I almost forgot, control the players and don't look past easy teams. That ought to do it for my personal wish list.

Score more points than the other team like nobody has seen before. Assemble the greatest coaching staff like no other. Nobody has seen coordinators like this in a long time. And a lot of people are saying that.
Build a big beautiful defense. We’ll call the front four the steel wall because walls work.

That it's ok to hire coordinators that are good and that don't need your constant input.

First, I introduce him to a ham BBQ sammich with a side of haluski and a cold Iron in a chilled glass. The sound of Bing Crosby's Hop Scotch Polka plays lightly in the background as we feast on that glorious meal and talk serious ball.

1. Thou must have a violent defense. We have a tradition of having NFL rules names after players.
2. You whilst not lose to the Browns...ever...especially in the palyoffs!
3. Ravens week is one of intensity and hyper focus, no mess'n arahnd!
4. Steeler Nation expects Superbowl's, and now they learnt that booing and chanting for your head results in firings, you better deliver cuz they have a short fuse right now
And that’s not too much to ask because it’s been done before.

I doubt that.
He was imitating his favorite UFC fighter Derrick Lewis who always pounds his chest and blows a kiss at the camera after a victory.

For grins I asked AI and didn’t expect Tomlins name to pop up.
I asked “does derrick lewis pound his chest and blow a kiss”?

Yes,
Derrick Lewis is known for a post-fight celebration that includes pounding his chest and blowing a kiss to the camera, a routine that inspired Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin’s own celebration.

No. His expression was clear. He was saying f you to the cameras and the crowd. Low class act.

the first thing I ask a coach during the interview is if how he evaluated Will Howard during the draft process? In your eyes is he worth the time to develop?

The first thing I'd ask him is if he wants horseradish on his Primanti's sammich or not.
