I hadnt thought of it before now, but almost every major Sports team in Pittsburgh replaced their coaches between 2025 and 2026...

The pens parted ways with Mike Sullivan In April and replaced him with Muse...

The pirates fired Shelton and replaced him with Kelly midseason..

Penn State axed James Franklin and brought in Matt Campbell
And now the Steelers have parted ways with mike Tomlin
But it gets better, both major college basketball programs in the city have hot seat situations this year, Pitt with Jeff Caple and Penn State's Mike Rhodes...
both are probably the worse teams in their conferences this year...

So the only coach with more than a year seniority by the end of 2026 may well be Pitt's Pat Narduzzi... (Sorry Pitt fans🤣)

Its literally a new era of Pittsburgh sports!!!!

Pirates firing Shelton is pointless with Bob Nutjob still being the owner.

They're basically going to waste the last few years they have with Paul Skenes, though we knew that was probably going to happen all along.

Fun Fact
Howard Cosell in 1982 coined the phrase “City of Champions” after the Steelers, Pirates and Panthers won championships the prior decade.
I wonder if he was aware that the Pittsburgh Triangles team tennis won a title in 1975.

A recap post 1960:

Pittsburgh Steelers 6 Super Bowls
Pittsburgh Pirates 3 World Series
Pittsburgh Penguins 5 Stanley Cups
Pitt Panthers 1 NCAA National Championship
Pittsburgh Triangles WTT (World Team Tennis) 1 national championship.
Pittsburgh Pipers 1 ABA Championship
Pittsburgh Passion women’s tackle football 3 national titles.
Arnold Palmer from Pittsburgh won 4 Masters titles.
Pittsburgh Riverhounds, the latest to join this elite group who just in 2025 won the USL soccer championship!!!

Holy cow, I missed the parade!
If there was one.
Was there a parade?
Anyone?

Tomlins departure signifies the rebirth of the City of Champions!
From the City of Tomlinships?
Current top-ranked team in the city is Pitt Women's Volleyball.

Top ranked doesn’t count just as much as Tomlinships don’t count . Only real championships!

There certainly was…
I attended several..

Pens were supposed to be tanking for McKenna. They're looking good and there's talk about trading for Robertson to help carry the franchise into the future.

Narduzzi was fine for what Pitt wants to be prior to pay-for-play college football. His style just doesn't work for today's game. Then again, Pitt doesn't care about the success of the football program. Capel, I hope they don't keep him for the sake of a future recruiting class. He's proven he can't coach them up anyway. Hard to believe this used to be the toughest ticket in town when they were contending in the Big East.
