Anyone surprised that Tomlin has not given a press conference? Not a word of congratulation to new coach? Is this saying more than I am resigning , moving on or more as some sour grapes. We all were down on Tomlin at the end I get it. Just surprised that Tomlin, did not have press conference as some respect to the organization and the city as well as the majority of fan base that had been in his corner.

who?

I think there’s more out there than we will possibly ever know.
One thing that caught me was Art saying Mike stepped down because of family.
Tomlin when asked said he was stepping down because of football.
Thought that to be odd, but at this point he’s not a Steeler any longer so frankly Scarlet, I don’t give a damn now.

He's an ego maniac, he's pissed the fans booed him and didn't worship the ground he walked on, that's why you saw him beating his chest and blowing a kiss after games and he's yelling Brooke Pryors name on the way to the locker room after another game because she had the nerve to ask about the fans booing, he took his ball and went home, good riddance.

Man, I hope for McCarthy's sake, he wins, wins soon and wins big. Otherwise, our fans will call him a "Good 'Ol Boys" hire, who was only hired because of where he was born. Then, after 10 years of that, when he steps down, they'll complain that he didn't stick around to kiss their heinies before he left.

Tomlin didn't pass down the IC Light traditional beers. He didn't leave the next HC with any sort of traditional thing that prior coaches have done. Also, Tomlin didn't use the office that prior HC's used which I find kind of odd. Did he have some sort of special office?

This whole thing is weird how he just up and disappeared without any sort of voiced appreciation. As far as I'm concerned he can go **** himself and he shouldn't be cheered if he ever comes back. He was either told to step down and he's upset about it or he left on his own and it was a big FU to the fans.

We had to put up with Tomlin for 19 seasons, only 4 of those seasons he actually won a single playoff game. I think verbalizing gratitude to the organization and fans is not only just being professional but also, being a person of integrity and appreciation. Just common decency really. Tomlin is showing he isn't what his followers make him out to be. There is definitely more to this than him simply walking away.

If this is just normal behavior of a coach that was in their role for over 15+ years, that truly wasn't let go then tell me any other coach in sport that walked away like he did with an AI written post on social media... good luck finding the coaches.

Man, my response was a little "tongue in cheek".
The questions I'm asking myself are:
1. Who cares?
2. Why?
3. What's for dinner?
I guess you care. You've kinda said why - although for the life of me, I can't understand some folks' continued fascination with Tomlin. So, that leaves - "what's for dinner?"
I'm thinking Cod, fried potatoes and Mexican corn.

I couldn't understand folk's fascination with wanting to keep him as HC.. they could never give a reasonable response but now it's a problem when people question why the greatest coach ever walks away in a cowardly way. It was problem questioning why he was HC and now it's a problem questioning his actions? For whatever reason, Tomlin is untouchable and beyond reproach for some strange reason.

P.S. - don't eat cod.

It's not a problem for me because I couldn't care less if the guy held a "Kumbaya Press Conference" or not. I just don't understand the ongoing fixation on Tomlin when there's so much more going on in regards to the Steelers.
Would it have really made you feel better if he had held a press conference full of "nothing speak" and "Tomlinisms"? Because, that's what we would have got.

P.S. - what's wrong with cod?

The whole "not handing down the IC Beer can" thing is classless. That's a trash move, if true.
Are you being serious or just joking? It's only something Cowher did for Tomlin. Though, Tomlin did say he wouldn't drink them and leave them for the next coach. Apparently, that was not the case.

Both. On one side the angst about Tomlin is easy to mock. On the other side tradition is important to this organization, and had he left more classy like, it would have been better for him.

Edit - I thought that Noll left it for Cowher, too? I guess I'm wrong here?

Yeah, it wasn't a tradition, just something that was done once.

The best theory I’ve heard, besides an alleged Shades Jr. in Florida, is that Deuce wasn’t happy with another wild card blowout and declined to discuss Shades’ option for 2027, so he got pissed and walked.

Cowher said that Noll left him a can of IC Light and he left the same can for Tomlin. It’s also possible that one day the cleaning lady saw an ancient can of IC Light and threw it out. Regardless, Shades may have left on his own but it doesn’t look like an amicable departure.

No, that's not accurate. Noll started it with Cowher, he left one IC Light in the fridge and Cowher added the 2nd.
I have heard that, too, but might be mistaken.
