Anyone listening to the fan right now?

HOF voting has become very political in an NFL sense. Because of that it has become meaningless. NFL writer have bias built in. It's not a hall of fame, its a hall of guys the writer liked. Stupid.

And the Steelers bias is a thing, that's why a guy like Dermontii Dawson who revolutionized the position and was considered one of the best Centers to ever play, retired in 2000 and didn't get into the HOF until 2012.

Which is why Ray Lewis who was charged and then plead guilty to charges went right in, funny his off the field situation never gets brought up by anybody.
There are some around here who like to take a stab at his past history when his name gets brought up.

The Hall of Fame is what it is. We know it isn't an ultra-exclusive group and rather than limit per year, put the guys in who deserve to be there. If 10 make it in 2027, who cares? It clears out the backlog of players who are locked out and keeps players from waiting decades to get in.

Yep.....you either are a HOFer or not. How a player who makes it in years down the road doesn't make sense to me.

Ben retired top 10 (top 5 in some) in all major statistical categories, with 2 Super Bowls. He played QB the same time 3 other all time greats were in their prime (Brady, Manning, Rodgers) so him not making all pros isn't a huge shocker, AB wasn't playing in the same era as 3 of the greatest WR's in NFL history.

AB without Ben only averaged something like 40 rec yards per game.

There are also more AP slots for a WR, but during his 6 year stretch from 2013-18, Larry Fitz, Cal Johnson, Julio Jones, OBJ, DHop, Mike Evans, and Davante Adams were all balling out. He was just as good as them, Ben was not as good as the best of his era.

AB led the NFL in catches twice, and yards twice, so AB was amazing, but it's not like he was the league leader every year. It's not like Ben and AB were playing in the offense that say Brady and Manning were, the Steelers offense was still hand-cuffed by Tomlin. Ben has the career numbers and the post season success to warrant a 1st ballot, AB doesn't, he was great for a 5 year stretch, but that's it. And if we're making a case for how great AB was, then who was throwing him the ball?

That led me to look up the limit on number of inductees each year because I never knew exactly.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame typically inducts between four and eight new members annually, with a maximum of five modern-era players allowed per class. Recent rule changes for certain election cycles have allowed for a maximum of nine members, including additional senior finalists.
Key details regarding the induction limits:
  • Modern-Era Players: A maximum of five, and a minimum of three, are selected each year.
  • Total Class Size: Generally four to eight members, though it can go up to nine to accommodate additional Seniors, Contributors, or Coaches.

Because they are afraid to say anything. Yikes!

That idiot Chris Mueller says AB should go into the HOF over Ben. How does this moron get paid for that crap?
I don't agree in most ways but AB was the #1 WR in the NFL for 5-6 years in a row. Ben was never the #1 QB even in one year. Ben played the harder position and had more years of being elite though. I think Ben is a first ballot and AB would be also if not for the off-field stuff. That said, AB deserves to go in some day.

Gonna remember this when people downgrade Will Howard and Julian Sayin. :)

Seriously, I think they're both 1st ballot guys.

i listen to him because the fan can get old ,,, bob.

anyway,, madden is such a constant dick, i want to punch his face.
He is just a shock jock that covers Pittsburgh sports but doesn’t love the Steelers. Certain media types like to be as obnoxious as possible to gain listeners approach. It seems to work for them.

I am in 100% agreement with this, especially that top line. If a guy like Terrell Davis is in the HOF, then I don’t see how a player like Silverback is left out. I don’t think there was a more intimidating, dominant linebacker during his stretch, and played second fiddle on his defense to the ONLY other HOF’er on that team (#43). My old man always used to say “if an *** kisser like Steve Young can get in, then ANYONE can make it in,” and I don’t disagree.

I think they are both HOF guys, just AB doesn't have the longevity or career stats that make him a 1st ballot guy.

Will AB take as long as Hines Ward????

I could see those two near time wise other than Ward taking a little longer due to backlog and Steelers syndrome.

Salute the nation

If the voting committee votes like it has. They hold on the field issues against players much more than off the field issues. AB quit on his team at least twice. They'll hold that against him for sure. That's why Belicheat wasn't voted in, why T.O. had to wait. Then you have a guy like Ray Lewis go in first ballot, his issues were off the field.

No he shouldn't have been IMO, but he didn't have on the field issues, and the HOF voting committee seem to hold that against players. To be a first ballot guy, you should have the post season success along with top 10 stats at your position.
CJ is 37th all time in receiving yards, 55th in catches, 27th in TD catches. No super bowls, not even sure if he had a playoff win.

Your argument is valid!

This is where you'll see how much the voters think of on the field behavior/issues.
now compare T.O. and Calvin Johnson, CJ was first ballot, T.O. wasn't

It’ll be interesting to see if Brady is 1st ballot. If they held the cheating stuff against Belichick then they should do the same for Brady with deflate gate where he was obviously lying.

I’m looking for a new morning show to listen to since they’re mostly about the Pirates now and I boycott the Pirates.
