Mock draft

I’m not sure how I feel about the RAS EVALUATION SCORING YET…

After all, I believe the top two guards are not even on the list that you presented.
Seems like the Steelers approach prior to Tomlin’s exit was factoring play and RAS -athletic ability together. Doesn’t necessarily mean they will follow script. But I think Andy has something to do with that approach so who knows..

Really like your second and third selections.. although I don’t think Hunter will last until 53..

I see you have the Penn State quarterback in there also… I’m sorry guys, but I don’t understand the infatuation with his kid.. I’ve read all the posts or most all the post about him, watched him play, read analysis on his game, and I just don’t see why we would waste more than a sixth round pick on this kid.

And please, I am not trying to start a debate with all the Penn State fans on the board regarding him.. just had to voice my opinion, especially, after reading day after day, about this young man..

Maybe I should’ve just said nothing because I just think that I unleashed the Kraken again lol..

With all the mock draft sites. How easy it must be to tell if you have a shot ay getting a certain pick. Or wwhich team will take the player you are targeting etc. if you use a.i. and AI is using all these knowledge bases.

You haven't. I'm a PSU guy and watched Allar and could never figure out how he could be considered a 1st rounder before this past season. To me he has the size, he has the arm and has some athleticism. But something seems to be lacking in his game. I lot of PSU people I talk to feel the same way.

My draft today, based on three assumptions, all of which can change based on FA/trades. The assumptions:

-AR is our starting QB (not happy about that)
-All starters still on team by draft (i.e. Queen, Highsmith, etc. not traded)
-Porter Jr. is extended a long-term contract (4 years or more)

Also, 1st and 2nd Round I give two choices, as this is based on Ioane lasting until 21. It's either OG-WR, or WR-OG

1(21) V. Ioane-OG Day one starter @ LG; if not him, O. Cooper Jr.-WR
2(53) A. Williams-WR WR3, gutsy slot; if not him, G. Dunker-OG
Trade 3(76) and 3(99) for Chicago 2(60) and 7(241). Chicago gets more trade value on this but we need it to help them get over the butt-hurt of Chase Claypool trade.
2(60) J. Trotter-ILB Run-stuffing ILB. Queen and Wilson are the same player in many ways, need a run-stuffer, Trotter in the rotation and becomes a starter next season when Queen leaves via FA
3(85) B. Clark-S Need a ball-hawk true FS type
4(121) T. Keenan III-NT True run-stuffing NT
4(135) M. Bell-OT Massive ROT, gives us flexibility at OT
5(161) E. Prysock-CB Athletic and long boundary CB to develop
6(216) L. Bond-WR Another quick route-running slot WR
7(224) M. Reiger-OLB Developmental OLB from Wisconsin--will be useful in Year 2 when Highsmith or Herbig leave
7(230) R. Nowakowski-TE Can be that TE/FB/HB player with ST chops
7(237) J. Fagnano-QB Prototypical size QB with decent arm and athleticism
7(241) D. Williams-ILB Another run-stuffer from a small school; could make Harrison obsolete

UDFA-- E. O'Neill-OLB, A. Smith-CB, D. Boykin-S, J. Cooper-OT, T. Rimac-OG, J. M'Ba-DL, C. Brevard-NT, K. Dinkins-TE, J. Geers-TE, H. Beatty-WR, D. Connors-RB, D. Pavia-QB, R. Eckley-P

I checked a few consensus big boards and a few other boards to truth this, but there is a lot of pick variability after Round 3 anyway. Some I doubt will be available with these picks, even though consensus says they will be.

Have at it!

Good work , being picky here but I think G is deep enough and WR in comparison isn’t. I prefer I think WR or FS in 1.

Unless something of course changes between now and the draft.

How about a mock the mock so we all have the same draft board? https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2026-nfl-mock-draft-3-rounds-post-free-agency/

1.21 Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State
Potentially the best WR in this draft is too good to pass up at 21, medical red flags included. The Steelers could transform the WR room in one year.

2.53 A.J. Haulcy, S, LSU
Not a fan of how the board fell and I have no clue what the plans are with Jalen Ramsey, so this may not be the move. However, there isn't a young safety on the roster as a long-term option, so this is the move.

3.76 Josiah Trotter, LB, Missouri
He would provide a missing element in the middle of the defense.

3.85 Caleb Tiernan, OT, Northwestern
A solid OT at Northwestern at both spots, who could be a top backup with potential to step in if Jones' injury is long term.

3.99 Dontay Corleone, DT, Cincinnati
A space eater and run stopper the Steelers have been missing for years.

1. 21 Max Iheanachor With questions about Jones, this would alleviate any concern.

2.53 Keylan Rutledge Two rookies on the left. I wanted Dunker, but he was taken a slot ahead.

3.76 Davison Igbinosun Rookie CB to phase into the defense.

3.85 Sam Roush - that would give us the most diverse TEs in the league.

3. 99 Keith Abney. Secondary will be SOLID

I’m not necessarily aligned with all of it, but you could tell you put some time and effort into that..
Nice work, man
Thanks.

With the draft, I assumed Lemon, Tyson and Tate were all gone, and Ioane fell because of the guard depth. I don't really like Boston or Concepcion for us, and I'd take Ioane, who would be our new starting OG (Anderson would not beat him out) over Cooper, who'd be our WR3. Cooper would be my second choice for 21, unless one of the good OT fell (I don't like Proctor).

Look its time to go BPA with a slight look ahead to 2027 free agents... we do need another high potential WR, but its a really really deep draft... that could be a fourth rounder... maybe even fifth
If it is later than one I prefer two drafted hell even if we draft one in round one I prefer two. There is enough picks let us get this position fixed.

Definitely a steal but they happen in every draft. Think about JP2 falling to round two. Didn’t see that one coming.
I moved him up to a day two pick after his combine. But to be honest he could easily be the top QB off the board. He checked all the boxes. Big, tall, athletic, elite arm strength. But watching his footwork and accuracy he really looks held back by poor coaching. It seemed to me watching the games Franklin coached him to not to lose the game. Play within the system. Rely on the defense. A lot how Tomlin wanted to play. I feel you put him with a coach that will push him use his talent and you might get yourself a Roethlisberger. If you watch the combine dude was throwing dimes at 60-65 yards down field. And all his intermediate throws were money. There’s just so much talent and upside I feel getting him this late is a steal. And considering he has another opportunity to showcase with his own receivers at his pro day he could definitely push himself up a lot further by draft day.

And please, I am not trying to start a debate with all the Penn State fans on the board regarding him.. just had to voice my opinion, especially, after reading day after day, about this young man..
I am a penn state fan and before that combine performance had him as a day 3 pick. He was just that impressive.
Maybe I should’ve just said nothing because I just think that I unleashed the Kraken again lol..
Nah, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Let me ask something for those who may have watched or studied Jacob Rodriguez at Texas Tech more that I did. This guy was all over the field making plays, not to mention his insane ability to dislodge the ball from the ball carrier. I get all that but how stout is he against the run, does he do a better job taking on blockers than what we currently have. I look at Trotter from Missouri and get the impression he’s more of what we need in the run game than we currently have. Not to mention he’s really young and definitely has a huge upside.

Paid allot more attention to Rodriguez in the games I watched but also noticed Trotter the maybe four or five quarters of Missouri football I paid attention to. Just asking, right now I’d be thrilled with either on day two.

Just a side note, didn’t include Allen from Georgia, I believe he’s heading to late day one or early round two unless someone believes he’s worthy of pick 21.

I have been mocking Corleone myself but after listening to a podcast discussing the body type of all the current and new DL he doesn't seem to fit the Andy Weidl eagles blueprint. They have stuck with length particularly longer arms.

2027 MIA 2nd
2027 CHI 3rd
2027 WAS 3rd
2027 NYG 4th
2027 PIT 5th

So get 2 big, talented WR's, 2 good CB prospects who both did very well on ST's in college, a very solid run-stuffing IDL, an underrated S, and a physically gifted safety.

Oh, and finish the draft with two 1sts, three 2nds, three 3rds, two 4ths, and a 5th in the 2027 draft. Give Howard and Allard a shot. If they are productive, great, then stack the team for the next 6 years. If not, then have the draft capital to get the best QB in the 2027 draft.

This tactic of playing to eke out the #7 playoff seed ends on draft day. Go big or go home.

Something to consider about Jacob Rodriguez vs. Trotter..
Rod
11 - TFL
1.- sack
7 - FF

Trotter
13 - TFL
2 - sacks
0 - FF

Pick your poison..
To me after watching them both play, edge goes the Rodriguez, however, would not be disappointed with either guy in second round.

But I would give the edge to Rodriguez for his ability to force turnovers…. I don’t know if I’ve quite seen a inside linebacker with the ability to get the ball back for your offense..

Superb LT prospect to pair with Fautanu for the next 5 years, a high-ceiling WR, three productive and physical CB's since those guys almost always contribute on ST's and can provide depth/potential replacements at the CB position, a pro-ready OG, a LBer with production and superb speed, and two solid picks in 2027.

I guess you could put me in the Rodriguez camp if he’s there in round two. I really like Trotter’s upside but Rodriguez seems to be one of those instinct/intellectual guys that will immediately help and be around for a long time. Taking Thieneman in the first and resigning Porter give you a really strong young trio. I swear, every mock I see on the news has Thieneman going to the Vikings which does make allot of sense.

1 Jordyn Tyson WR. I would hop, skip and jump on the tail end of an athletic stance in route to turning this card in.

2. FS Zakee Wheatley. One of my favorites, I like this S class..

3 Garrett Nussmeier QB. I know I am taking a gamble but it is in the 3rd.

3B Davison Igbinosun CB A size speed guy. Porter Jr. can give him some tips on being less grabby…

3C Dontay Corleone, NT, Cincinnati - not a new candidate to my mocks…
