Tomlin to NBC

Just because some don't want to hear him, doesn't mean there's ill will. I don't want to listen to his Tomlinism's anymore, the national fans that haven't heard it for 18 years might like it, I for one can't stand it anymore, and seeing where our team has been under him for the past decade, I think alot of Steeler fans are sick of him, that doesn't mean they have ill will.
When the guy retires, which is what everyone wants, yet he is kicked on the way out with unfounded rumors of affairs and babies, unfounded rumors that were happily pushed by some on here...if that isn't ill will what is?

I think he will be remembered well long term.
Kinda like james Harrison. When he forced himself off the team and then signed with the Patriots, I hated the guy. Burned 3 of his jerseys in my firepot. Then a few years go by and you remember all the good times.

I wish him well, but I suspect his repetitive cliches and platitudes will get stale with the audience after about a year.

I seperate the man and the results. I dont know him as a person but think he was a very good ambassador for the team. Thought of very highly on the national stage. The team has been stagnant by our expectations for about a decade. Glad for the move but will enjoy him as I do Cowher in the media.

Did you see what the fans did to Ben and alot still do? Or Kordell or Tommy Maddox, every fan base has those fans, I don't think anyone here has ill will towards him.

In all seriousness I think Tomlin will do very well. We all know he is a well spoken man and could give a very interesting spin on the desk team. I wish the man well.
I think he'll probably do well to, alot of fans haven't heard alot of him speak across the country, but to alot of Steelers fans, they are sick of hearing his spiel, maybe he'll be different when he's not giving us coach speak.

Sure I did. If it's not ill will, fine, it is classless and uncalled for. Just everybody let the guy go. Let's have no more threads dedicated to Mike Tomlin. It's Mike McCarthy now.

Fake Coach MT weighs in.

Tomlin LOVES the national media. Completely different with them than he was with the local sports writers. He'll do well on TV.
He’ll shine through the shinebles obviously.

Honestly though. Good for him. He has a made for tv personality. Football analysts will love his word salad linguistics

easily clarified by referring to his exit press conference

That’s the thing, there was no way Rooney was going to fire him.

Something Catastrophic had to occur.

NO exit press conference, interview, private one on one.

I would never expect him to divulge to deep in personal matters, but some reasoning would be expected.

Pre-game shows used to be moderately entertaining, back when the totality of pre-games was on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. (for me on PST) on two stations and then Monday night for about 10 minutes. Since there was no 24 hour per day, 7 days per week coverage, the pregame shows would convey interesting information about who was hurt, recent trends by teams in terms of offensive production, changes to the starting line-ups, etc. Since I lived in Northern California growing up, those pregame shows would give me information about the Steelers I had no other way of learning.

Now with about 100 television and radio broadcasters analyzing every pass thrown in every game in every market, and every yard run, and every sack or turnover, the personalities try to "add" something to separate themselves from the horde. What they add is almost always stupid and has nothing to do with anything I care about.

For those reasons, my interest in pre-game shows and TV broadcasters pontificating about football games rivals my interest in Mexican youth soccer leagues.

Why though? It was pretty universal, some were more intense than others, but I could argue it was universal that we all wanted a change. We got that. I'm just not that interested in what Mike Tomlin has to say or his reasons. That's his business.

We diddnt like him for the last ten years why are we to be kind to him now?

We will have our opinion, you can have yours.
