I really think the ones who didn’t care for the pick saw him rated online lower. And wanted their pick to be of a different position (G and WR perhaps).

I am more about them getting the best potential value than my personal likes.

Really? in three years he's fleeced the Bears that ended up giving them JPJ who is one of the best CB's in the league. Jones was an outstanding pick, the previous coaching staff set him back playing musical chairs with his position. Herbig, Sawyer, Washington, Benton, Black...all solid players coming into their own. You could argue that WR2 took way too damn long to acquire but who knows what all happened and perhaps it was out of his control?

One other point; GM's used to be able to forecast draft classes but NIL is screwing that up royally. Some college players are earning more than an NFL rookie contract and return to play for ant team willing to shell out the money. Khan sitting there with 12 draft picks this year and 9 next year shows, I believe, he was looking to trade up to select a QB this year, which was supposed to be QB heavy class of first rounders, which it did not, obviously. Now they're projecting next years QB class to be a very good one but will it?

I like what he's doing, personally and with Big Mike having a say in terms of personnel, I'm looking forward to who Khan grabs in the draft and free agency as he builds this new team.

Well said, but Andy Wield has a big part in this as well.

Add on the Kahn debacle of phone time prior to having the pick, does create a little angst towards him (not past, but current handling of his job).

Right. If I was the owner or GM I would have the highest coaching payroll in the NFL until they tried to put a salary cap on it. There's no reason to not have multiple position coaches. What is a million more dollars a year to a multi billion dollar franchise?

The only thing that disappoints me about Khan in this is that he/they EVER considered drafting Lemon. We have not learned our lesson, obviously, regarding head case WRs that can't make it through a rookie contract! Lemon comes off as a freaking loon! How would his 'island boy' act play in Yinzerville?

Want to bet Khan was drooling over Simpson too? Another tiny QB with tiny body and tiny hands? Many thanks to the Rams for jumping up and taking that turd.

Talent evaluation hasn't changed though...we will find out whether it was the coaching staff unable to develop players, or players that should not have been drafted in the first place. It's either going to be a huge walk off grand slam or an enormous bust, time will tell.

It was 2 #4's, the first of which was 114, v Steelers 121. This board would probably have been in meltdown if the Steelers gave up 2 #4's (and possibly another pick to make up the 114 to 121 difference) to move up one place. Moving to 21 v 23 likely wouldn't have had any greater value to Dallas, given they drafted an Edge rusher (granted they would have kept Chargers behind them).

I was watching the draft on NFL + where one of the announcers stated 2 #5's so thats where I got that stat.

Well I think overall the picks have been decent of late. IMO which of course could be wrong but I think the biggest problem is as a combination of schemes, inept developmental issues, and player out of position problems.

I don’t know how any of these guys will work out, no one really does. Every year top picks simply do not do well in the league and quickly burn out.
I do know that the Steelers had their guy in Lemon who were on the phone with when Dallas was on the clock. The so called Kahn Artist showed his hand and got CJ Punked by the wiser much more polished Howie Roseman swooped in front of them.
Far much too value with Lemon at that spot and Kahn got too comfortable and just sat on his hands.
After Lemon cleared the 15 spot Kahn should have gotten on the phone with the teams from 16 to 20 and made a deal. You move up the most 5 spots and maybe as little as one spot. So you give up a 3rd and a fourth perhaps to move up for Lemon.
Idk nor do you if either of these two guys will work out but I can’t help think how much Lemon would have fit here in the slot in McCarthy’s west coast offense.
Kahn better start making moves today to try and bring in some talent and I think it starts with trying to get Denzel Boston.

FFL, I posted the Twitter/X link showing every snap Iheanachor played against David Bailey, the #2 pick and generally regarded as the most NFL-ready edge player in the draft. Bailey beat him once with a speed rush, and beat him another time on a running play that washed out completely, but saying that Max was "abused" is just false. I mean we can all look at the plays for crying out loud.

Is Iheanachor a finished product? Absolutely not. But his showing in the Senior Bowl was something. He abused skilled edge rushers on the 1-on-1 drills and had a really good game. He is a guy with elite skills who is improving. If you criticize the pick because you think the Steelers needed a guy NFL ready day 1, okay, agreed. But the Steelers were just not going to find that guy at pick 21 in this draft. If you want a guy who is already a pretty damn good pass blocker, who needs to get better at run blocking but is somebody who in a reasonably short time could be a good LT, then Iheanachor makes more sense.

Good question. It’s a little harder to see with our offensive scheme last year. We had the quickest snap to throw time in the NFL and imo that was designed to protect the offensive line. So I really just analyzed the snaps where Rodgers held the ball 2.5+ seconds. I would say Fautanu was actually better at this than he was at run blocking. But I think he gave up a lot pressues more when Rodgers had to go to his second read. Run blocking is where he struggled and I feel moving him to LG and allowing him to double up with Frazier inside or use his speed to get on smaller LBs would help.

He might be better at LT than RT. But imo Cook would be a better LT than Fautanu.

Also, Troy did play LT at Washington but his quarterback was also left handed. I know it’s not quite the same but you do kinda flip your protection with a left handed quarterback.

I think people think it’s so hard for a tackle to kick inside and I really don’t get where that stigma comes from. There’s countless College tackles who had long and hall of fame careers kicking inside to guard or center. I honestly would draft mostly tackles if I was a GM and guys who might be very good college tackles but don’t check the boxes for an NFL tackles and struggles I would immediately kick them inside. Robert Gallery comes to mind. Guy couldn’t play tackle in the NFL. Goes to guard and was dominant.

Good response. I think I am one of the few on here that thought the love for Dylan Cook was totally exaggerated. In fact the more he played the more of a turnstile he became. In the beginning he had some good efforts then regressed. I guess my frustrations lie with the fact we have spent good draft capital in the last few seasons. And the line is still a total work of progress. Given more experience Dylan might work out,we’ll see.

For the record. I have no problem with our pick and understand the need. Like all on here we have our opinions. I had a favorite player targeted,thought there was a very small chance he would be there……and low and behold…..he was ours for the taking.
The safety from Oregon, whose hero was Troy P would have looked very good in B&G,and would have cemented our back end for years. I will watch Dillon’s progress with interest.
