4th Round Pick- Wetjen

If any of you’ve ever met Sidney Crosby or seen videos of him out of uniform, he also is similarly built with his legs and lower half of his body that looks almost comical, but gives Sid the superpowers that he has on the ice..
OK, that’s enough about lower body types, and strength for me.. lol
Unfortunately, the Flyers must have been wearing kryptonite underwear last night. Zero goals for the Pens in almost four full periods. They hit a post and a crossbar during regulation, then the winning goal goes off the post and in. Just like football...truly a game of inches.

Agreed with the strength and balance of the young man to go along with his quickness and speed.. are his superpowers..

Watch the video in the article I attached, which is pretty cool in itself..
You can see the strength in his lower body by the sheer size of his legs compared to the rest of his body.. almost looks out of balance lol..

That was very cool. He is built like Sid.

The thing is if you look at him vs the other wrs in the draft he is barely top 40, and yeah that pushes projections down to the 7th or udfa... cause not every team is taking a wr and certainly not more than one...

However drafts arent in a bubble... his individual grades mesh quite nicely with fourth round wrs in the past few seasons... it was just a stupidly deep draft for wrs... comparing where his scores fit in in previous years, he was a pretty solid 4/5 rounder... there were just 15-20 more quality wr prospects in that upper mid round zone in this draft than normal... everything was skewered by an unnaturally large supply of WR prospects.. Wetjen just was the best KR prospect out of all of those. He has a ton of potential as a slot wr in McCarthy's system, but they clearly drafted him as a PR/KR.. I think the round value was fine on him.

I like the kid cause i saw highlights of him getting hit and breaking out for extra gains...he has great balance... these 5'8-5'9 guys often go down at first touch.. and its maddening to see them finger tackled with open fields in front of them...
I hope you are right.
I watched the highlights and saw the same thing you did.
tackle braking for good gains.
That is exactly what concerned me. When i think of great return guys i don't think tackle braking. In the nfl you need ankle braking. Elusiveness, with an explosive change of direction, stop start. Quick feet with acceleration and vision.
I saw none of that with Wetjen. I saw a guy that was strong enough to brake tackles. At 5-9 I am leery that will fly at the next level. Guys trying to tackle him are a different level athlete. Bigger stronger faster.

Jaylen Warren is 5'8" 215lbs, Kaden Wetjen is 5'9", 200lbs.

We have two of the larger short guys in the NFL. Can't just throw out the 5'9" number without the weight with it. It matters, especially in Wetjen's case.

Height Weight and tackle breaking are secondary for a return guy. In my opinion. AB wasn't a great return man because he could break tackles, he was great because they couldn't touch him in the open field due to his athleticism, vision and elusiveness. Nothing to due with his height weight or 40 time.
Jaylen Warren is an animal with quick burst and power. Samoan Power just looks different, you can see in games Warren's quick burst and power catches guys by surprise. Just like Troy, guys just bounce off him.
I could be wrong about Wetjen, I don't watch college football and have only seen a few highlight reels. He looked like a guy with good enough power to break tackles in the return game at the college level.
