Pirate 2026 season thread

I’ll be in Pittsburgh for the game this coming Saturday against the Phillies. Should be fun.

Paul Skenes is pitching a no hitter thru 5 withb10 strike outs
He is unbelievable

Another record set by Skenes..

Per the Elias Sports Bureau, Skenes is the first Pirates pitcher in the Expansion Era (https://www.mlb.com/glossary/miscellaneous/expansion-era (1961) to strike out the side in order three times in a game.

Kid is special obviously, and dare I say that the pirates have the most and best young talent of any other Pittsburgh sports team currently…

Unless they get something figured out with relief pitching and a closer they will never get over the .500 hump.

I don't even want to watch the 9th anymore when they have a lead. I felt it coming last night. And against Philly to boot.

Sounds like the stretch the Penguins went through near Christmas.

Kind of makes you long for David Bednar..
What's the Rubber Band Man doing these days?

I'll admit, the last closer I can name was Stan Belinda....His last outing, that I remember, didn't go so well....

Long watch but well worth it:

I forgot that 30 days before this he had heart replacement surgery. In the video above Tek mentions his doctor said it would be ok to throw out the first pitch but just don't throw underhand or your guts will spill out... Great watch if you have time....
