My impression, when I come into contact with someone who has tattoos on their neck and/or face is, "this person suffers from mental illness". This is not sarcasm, I guenuinely believe these people are seriously troubled. I don't care if they claim to be artists, or if it's 'cultural', or whatever....if you have one of these, you are troubled and should seek therapy.

I would never hire someone with a neck or face tattoo, and I would likely not socialize regularly with someone who has one.

Neck tattoo: troubled
Face tattoo: seriously troubled

I worked in prisons for a few years. That's where they belong. Not the person on the street, IMO

They look terrible. I don't trust anyone with that sh!t displayed.

My dime store psychologist's opinion is that people with a lot of tattoos and piercings are unhappy with themselves and looking to change themselves.
I'm not opposed to tattoos, I just can't think of anything I want permanently inked on my body.
Was close to getting a Steelers logo but then they went 8-8 that year.

IMO, people with face tattoos have low self-esteem and pride issues in that they want you to look more at the ink than the person.

I mean, how can you determine anything else when you look at Flog's IG burner?

I do not like face/neck tattoos, but I don't judge people by them. I have met some nice people with face tats. I don't think it's much different than having like a full arm / leg sleeve. With that being said there are alot of nasty people with them.

Really dislike tattoos in general, but putting them on the neck and face mean the person is engaging in self-destructive behavior. I have never understood why an attractive girl would put that **** on her arms. On her face? Yeah, pass.

People with tattoos often say that the permanent scarring "tells a story." I was talking with one guy who made that statement, and I pointed out that the tattoo does not tell the story; I have to ask what the tattoo means and he tells me the story. "Yeah, exactly, that's why the tattoo tells a story," the guy responded. I said he could have just told me the story without the permanent markings on his body.

Crickets.

P.S. Best tattoo story ever:

My neighbor had dragon tattoos on both forearms. He got them in his 20's. He is in his 50's and says he wishes he didn't have them anymore.

My tattoo artist said she won't do "job killers" - what she says face tats are.

I have two. One on my upper left arm, small, has personal significance that I got in my 20s.

I didn't get another until both my parents passed within 7.5 weeks of each other in 2024. I was super close to them both, and the pain is still real.

After weeks of researching designs, I settled on Celtic mother and father son knots. Told the artist "work it up in a cool design" but you need to include both of their names and their birth and death years in it. I couldn't come up with a design. Came back a week later and loved what she did. She figured out a way to interconnect the knots - as they had been connected in life and incorporate the rest in the design.

I'll never regret it - it's on my left arm, it's a dedication to my parents, their connection to each other, and to me.

I have a bunch of tattoos on my arms, back, leg. I’d never get one on my neck or face. I think it’s kinda dumb, but to each their own.

As far as why I get tattoos? I like them. I like the process. I even enjoy the pain to a degree. That said, I fell asleep during the last one I got. All of my tattoos mean something to me. I don’t know that they tell a story, but they certainly have meaning.

People can like them or not. I don’t give a crap. They’re my tattoos and I can’t imagine why that would matter to anyone else.

I have one, a VH Van Halen logo on my left shoulder. I only got it because my daughter, who I named Halen, wanted to get matching ones. I like it though.

That's similar to my take. People are afraid of getting tattoos. I kind of think it feels good, in a weird way. Hard to describe.

And yeah, they are mine and have a point. As you said, to each their own.
