Big change and saying it is a permanent move.

Home page article at steelernation.com.

Talks about Troy and McCormick being moved to left side, permanently.

This Coach made a decision early and decisively, no puzzy-footing around.

It's call PRO-Active for those that can't remember what that even is as it's been so long.
Good Read

No Meyer- love it
No Austin- love it
No AS- incomplete as that wasn’t his offense, but I’ll take McCarthy’s mind over Tomlin/AS as Tomlin isn’t in this equation handcuffing OC’s.

Awww **** it pretty much just looks like an upgraded staff across the board.

It’s like we are real time witnessing logical implementation of an NFL plan

We did lose Bubbles too though, so there’s that

Just above the line football moves.

I know the players loved him, but they loved Tomlin too. Outside of stuffing his face with big league chew like an 8 year old trying to look "Grown up" his achievements were pretty lack luster. Two punt returns for touchdowns the last 11 years and the last time the Steelers had a kickoff return was 2015 when AB took it to the house. Let's not forget about the stupid fake punts in the first half of a game deep in our own territory. I'm glad he's gone, I'm glad they're mostly all gone.

Bubbles had some ok kick blocking and coverage strategies, but his return game plans were often meh... take Boswell's kicking out of the equation and special teams were really average to below average in his era here... he was a nice guy and a character on the sidelines... but its not like losing DLB or anything

That last comment was made gum in cheek cuz I know Bubbles is DIC’s guy

So true about Bubbles, players ill-prepared / not knowing the rules / no back up place kicker or punter plan (emergency) / coverage not good, amongst other things.

I’ve called for his head for quite sometime now, being Tomlin’s friend kept him years past his expiration date.

Note; add in the 2+ Special Team ACE he got roster spots for.

I mean every coach has a point that their message isn’t heard well.

I am glad they brought in an assistant ST coach as Danny Crossman’s resume is uninspiring.

Sometimes a change is good but sometimes it results in a drop off in play.

Hopefully it is a good move…

A team can have a ST ace... hell it can handle two...

We routinely kept one at S, CB, OLB, ILB, TE, RB and WR and sometimes more... it was overkill and led to late season depth issues

I always thought Bubbles would choke to almost death on the sidelines, that old ******* always kept me worried

I thought Smith was the least of our worries. Hard to say how much input he had over personnel. We were pretty elite at blocks and have maybe the best kicker in the league. I don't think coverage has been terrible, returns have not been great, and we struggled with punters.

Like Caleb Johnson, a bigger sized back with no home run speed...make it make sense!?

"Our quarterbacks train conceptually. We don't want to be in a lot of schemes where you throw the ball to that guy. We understand where the matchups are, but to train the quarterback with his footwork and decision making and have that function at the highest level, its best when your receivers can play all three positions. "
Mike McCarthy
Gee that sounds like it might just work. 👏👏👏
And it sounds like Roman Wilson might not be so useless after all.

LOL..I thought he was a pretty good coach, but I think that was more from him being a likable character than actual performance when you look at some of the results as others have pointed out.

The thing that stands out to me the most is Kaleb Johnson doing his best Barry Foster imitation...how do you send a rookie out there and not make him aware of every live ball situation?

That is wildly incompetent.

Or maybe they did and he completely ****** it up. I cannot tell you the number of times Ive told players the simplest things and it still goes fubar. Biggest is check with the ref you are onside. I must say that 500 times in a season and wideouts are offside or we dint have 7 on the line at snap.
