Iran

Steelmann, my last comment was a joke. All nations enact protectionist trade policies. My point for the past several years has been that the United States doing so is the only occasion in my lifetime that such policies have been criticized.

EU restricts importation of American cars, and refrigerators, and bicycles, and wine, and bourbon, and wheat, and beef? No problem. China places tariffs on nearly every import since it was granted most favored nation status in 2000? No problem. NAFTA castrates American manufacturing? No problem.

Trump threatens tariffs?

I would like to know where in my reply to you I freaked out or even mentioned Trumps name. It was in reply to you stating protectionism. I readily said Canada does it as well as the USA. And I have no problem with any country protecting their own farm industry. Along with their own natural resources.

So how your little meme directed to my comment is relevant is beyond me.

Oh we could and with relative ease at that. We simply don’t. Half the country whines about the force that we do use.

This country has weapons that are born of pure evil. Weapons that will do unspeakably horrific damage to enemy soldiers, equipment and infrastructure. Some of the technology is truly terrifying.

I believe that most of this stuff is to be used as the final solution before nukes become the only option. It’s why we never use it.

We could have forced Iran into submission. The main reason we didn’t is because we are running out of weapons stockpiles. It’s why Trump kept delaying everything. Between supplying Ukraine and the pointless venture in Iran, along side ongoing operations in Iraq and Syria, we are basically tapped out. We literally have the Ukrainian army in the Middle East teaching our military about drone warfare. We will be buying both offensive and defensive drone capability from Ukraine. Can’t keep shooting down $50k drones with $40 million missiles.

But back to your original point, we could. I just think too few people have the stomach for what it would look like to do it.

I’m not going to doubt a military man.
That was actually good to know because I wasn’t feelin’ it.

You would be stunned at some of the stuff we have. At times I find it hard to believe a human mind came up with some of this stuff.

We could have absolutely buried Iran. But there would have been suffering among civilians on a scale that may not have been survivable. Can’t do that. The requirement to spare civilians at all costs is always go to be a large portion of what holds us back militarily. The other part is the attorneys and politicians that create ridiculous rules of engagement that puts us at a disadvantage before the fight even begins.

I remember going to a torture museum in Prague. Filled with interesting devices from the Middle Ages. Of course you walked down these stone steps to a huge dungeon. Absolutely brutal instruments from way back when.
