Your All Time Steelers Lineup

The odds of Randy Johnson hitting you are pretty slim……………

The odds of Jerome Bettis putting you in the hospital is G-iganguss

I was a pretty good Baseball player as well, I’d still not want to tackle the bus open field.

All good SIR !!!

Well would you rather have the Bus run into you full speed with shorts and a T on or get hit in the head by Johnson?

See above post #75......................................................

You seem to be interested in what I'm wearing......................... NO dual G-strings today as I have a lot of walking miles to put and they seem to rub my inner crack raw........

will keep you posted if there is a change up.....

PS Johnson wouldn't hit me in the head, at that era age........ I had great reflexive action.

I don't know you took shorts and a t shirt and went to g strings and your butt crack

That scares me lol

Bell’s sour apples at the end tainted his legacy to more degree than one would think.

I’m not dissing the Bell, but also realize we won nothing with him.

That little “delayed run” would have been swallowed up in a heart-beat back in Franco’s Era.

Again, I’m not dissing the Bell as he was pretty good for a short period, had he finished his career here….HOF.

Coaching failed that Era of the killer B’s, unfortunately the Bell was included in that Era.

You don't think NFL defenses are bigger stronger and faster than they were in Franco's era?
In fairness players should be judged by how they performed on the field at their best.
Bumlin would have lost with Brady, Moss and Bo Jackson. SMH

The defenses probably are. So are the offenses. So are the players. I would argue while that may be the case, in Franco's era the defenses were better at fundemental tackling, because they did it all the time. In Franco's era you could do things on defense you cannot today.

I thought Bell was a heck of a player. But Franco is a HOFer. The only way Bell gets there is if he buys a ticket like you and me. It's a shame, because if he wasn't an idiot, who knows? Again, my main objection is the "not even close." Even if you think Bell is better, it's close. I'd still take Franco or Bettis over him...you didn't have worry about them flaking out.

Im not gonna go watch film of Franco and Bell and compare the two and my memory of Franco is sketchy......its been a long f-ing time since I watched him and I put Franco on my all time list because well hes Franco and he's a HOFer and he was good but when I really just look objectively at stats Bell makes a case for being the superior back if you are looking at pure peak period. I quickly added up total yardage for Franco on his 3 best years.......hes around 4200........Bell is at 6000 f-ing thousand. Bells 2014 All Pro year he had 2200 scrimmage yards (and had 2 other seasons around 1900).

If I took those 2 players and then ranked the very best individual years of those 2 players. Bell might have the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best year between the two and then Franco would have 4th through 12 or whatever because Bell got injured, sat out like a moron, smoked weed and his career was much shorter. But seriously did Franco ever have a Bell 2014, or 2016, or 2017 year? So who was the better back?

If we want to say 3 year peak I'd say Bell was the better player hands down but a decade Bell doesn't even qualify. Take your love for a great man out of the convo and objectively weigh the talent of an idiot basically lol

What a great problem to have as fans.
So many great players over all of our life times.

A lot of teams are known for 1 or 2 great players

You can't compare based on total yards their best years. The game was different and for the first half of Franco's career there were two fewer games per season. Most of the difference between Bell and Harris is receiving yards. The passing game was a lot more prominent when Bell played, compared to Harris.

good point about the less games and different eras so let's compare apples with apples

Let's first look at francos peak period
1974 to 1979 and where Franco ranked against his contemporaries in the NFL

1974 Franco 8th scrimmage yards with 1206
1st was 1812
1975 Franco 4th with 1460
1st was 2,243
1976 Franco 11th with 1,279
1st was 1,762
1977 Franco was 9th with 1224
1st was 2,121
1978 Franco was 15th with 1,226
1st was 1,875
1979 Franco was 10th with 1,446
1st was 2,006

Now one year in 1976 Rocky Blier had 1,036 yards so some would say well how about that? Franco had 289 carries that year. He had 262 the year before and 310 the year after. They just ran the ball more because of Terry's injuries..Of note blier had a 4.2 ypc vs 4.1 for Franco. Yes rocky blier had a better ypc than Franco that year.....both with a lot of carries

So Franco in his era in that era of offensive football he ranked 8th, 4th, 11th, 9th, 15th, and 10th in the league and his totals were quite distant from the leader

Let's look at Bells 3 big years with the Steeler (he had a 4 year run but he had the knee issue 6 games into the 2015 season so I can only look at 3 full peak years

2014 Bell was 2nd with 2,215 scrimmage yards
1st was 2,261

2016 Bell was 3rd with 1,884
1st was 2,118

2017 Bell was 2nd with 1,946 yards
1st was 2,093

So Bell in those 3 years was 2nd, 3rd, and 2nd and his total yards was close to the leader

So yeah better human being..... Franco harris by a landslide. Better career Franco harris by a landslide

But in those 3 years when Bell was the man in Pittsburgh he was at the very top of the NFL at his position. Franco.......not so much.

Franco racked up a lot of yards over a longer career, won 4 SBs and was a great guy and beloved but peak 3 year Bell vs peak 6 Harris......I'd say Bell was the better back and frankly I'd don't think it's close
