Yes, he's going about it in the wrong way.
But, from lots of accounts, he's not wrong.
And he's certainly not the first to say it, and it's come from different era players as well.
From Ben's own mouth the year they drafted Rudolph, too.

We have all done dumb crap in our lives. The motorcycle thing was dumb. The sex assaults if true were horrific. Then I guess Ben found Jesus. My guess is he hit an emotional bottom and sought answers. From all accounts he was a jerk early in his life but he seems to have turned things around. I surely cant cast a stone. My guess is those who were willing to forgive did so and those who couldn't get over him being a jag off for so long didn't. Once a jag off always a jag off to some.....guess that's how Joey feels. We all have our journeys

He clearly has improved his life. Im sure he struggles with ego every day. Dont we all?

It's nuts to think that JPJ will be making more over the first two years of his second contract than his pops made in his entire career. And that $47 million is dwarfed by the quarter of a billion that Ben got paid. Maybe that's why the old man is salty.

Joey with his pre game fistfights, assaulting off duty cops, Guy has never given a f***.
I wish he passed some of that dog onto Joey JR. Fear was always a constant with the Steeler defenses of old. We haven't had that since James, Troy even Ryan Clark struck fear into opposing teams. That Willis Mcgahee hit against the Ravens rewrote the NFL rulebook.

Offenses know where they are going so execution is key.....more cerebral I think. Defenses are more reactionary so having that guy who lights a fire under everyone's rear end I think can be helpful. Sure there is thinking on D but playing quick and reacting quick I think is more important. Thinking is slow. Emotions are explosive. I think we miss a guy like Peezy on this D. I love Watts intensity when he say sacks a guy....but id love for him to go apeshit in a huddle and stir the pot.

Joey, as well as others, said he was a bad teammate.
He/I'm NOT casting aspersions on his current life, who he is in his personal life, his time post Steelers, his time as a family man, etc.
STRICTLY his tenure as a member of the Steelers as a player and QB1.
That's all.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Me personally?
My opinion was formed early when he was in high school, college, and his early Steelers tenure.
My personal experiences, as well as those from family and friends.
NONE of which have to do with his motorcycle accident and/or the sexual assault allegations.
I've never liked him, and probably never will. I've been very vocal on this messageboard in this regard.

God bless if he examined himself and turned over a new leaf.
But Joey's comments, as well as others, were about him being a bad teammate.
Other teammates love him.
EVERYONE'S entitled to their own opinion.
I don't begrudge anyone their opinion.

Its hard to believe anything in the media you know but when there is an overriding theme out there and you constantly hear stories of people who knew him or had experein es with him saying he was a jag off then yeah he probably was a jag off. He seems to have become a better person but I hear you. No one ever said before he got married that he was one of the greatest persons you ever met or that he was as humble as you come that's for sure.

ultimately though all I ever really cared about was him winning. I think the only thing that really bugged me was that there was a narrative out there that he wasn't exactly the film junkie type and wasn't a student of the game and just liked to show up and playground it. Dont know if that was a valid argument or not but when he had a clunker of a game id wonder. Curious what anyone knew about his work ethic while he played

Had a pretty lengthy conversation with Bruce Gradkowski a few years back, specifically about when Haley was OC.
He confirmed what you said above about film study, discussing things with coaches, giving coaches feedback, etc.
Said Haley wanted the QBs to tell them what they saw and try and break down how the play developed.
Ben wanted no part of doing that, thus the tension between the two.

Yeah, I cheer for the logo on the front, not the name on the back.
And I honestly don't care what any athlete does off the field. It's none of my business nor concern.
I know everyone likes to "give a pass to their faves or one of their own".
I'm not geared that way.
I was just defending Peezy a bit since everyone seemingly teed off on him for something that has been said several times by several different people.
Everyone's making it seem like JP accused Ben of unearthing The Chief and humping his dead corpse.

Interesting. I wonder if him not playing QB til his senior year in HS or playing at Miami contributed to his work ethic. If he had an arse kicker like Saban as a coach playing at a more intense structured program or played QB at an earlier age before he got into full jerk adult mode, maybe he would have developed better habits. Maybe he would have done whatever the F he wanted regardless who knows.

No, People are saying those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. And there is ZERO reason to bring this **** up RIGHT NOW. Ben has been retired for almost five years now. It's pointless. And every time he opens his mouth and talks Roethlisberger, there are just as many that step up and speak up FOR him. Just about every time Joey has gone on to say something, Harrison steps up and says the opposite. So it's not just Ben's buddy's on the OL and TE room...a bunch of D guys stand up for Ben.

Because he's telling you the truth? What a strange take. Dude IS NOT a good person( or was not)...I witnessed it myself in the way he treated a child..A CHILD fan. I've told the story of that incident on this board several times....it was at SB 43 practice, after practice actually. I mean maybe the dude has had a change of heart since then I hope, but what I saw and heard was just nasty and mean. I still feel like he's just fronting with the whole "Christian" act, but that's my feeling and like I said I hope he really has had a change in his life.
 
I will admit I couldn't listen to his words before I posted. He basically said Ben was QB for his only SB but was a horrible person and team mate. He's entitled to that opinion snd I have no evidence to say he wasn't.
