Why the Steelers should Keep 4 QBs

Put Howard on the PS. A-Aron isn’t coming back and it’s unlikely anyone will sign him.
At first I was totally against this but that was a one game knee jerk reaction. Trying not to knee jerk the opposite way but when they give a QB an opportunity to shine I expect just that. Too many shaky performances like that and he will be shining shoes.

I don't think he was shaky. He had 2 ints that seemed to be more on Wilson, but he was playing pretty well on those drives. The Jets barely touched the ball in the 2nd quarter and they had some 1s and 2s in there. If we like him putting him on the PS seems risky. I think someone might take a shot on him. If the coaches are not very high on him then I'm sure they will try the PS route

Coach McCarthy will do what is best for the team as to the QBs after Aaron Rodgers.

I hope this doesn't degenerate into a PSU vs Ohio State squabble.

Right now my biggest concern is the O Line.

There will be at least 1-2 head scratchers at the backend of the roster.

For a team devoid of a long term starting QB answer currently on the roster taking two bites at the apple seems to make sense in this unique situation the Tomlin roster negligence has landed us in.

4-QBs make way more sense than a questionable bubble player.

ONLY if that 4th QB merits the keep.

MM & staff have that capability to determine the keeper or the goner, either way I’ll be A-ok and able to perform my fan duties.

Love the accuracy, but he's undersized and there are some questions with his arm strength. What can he do on a team without two stud WRs?

If Kyler Murray and Bryce Young can be the first overall pick, a guy who is 3-4 inches taller can.

They're bottom-third starters who haven't shown they can elevate a team. Both are examples why I would look to avoid undersized QBs in the draft.

I don't see you being able to keep 6 receivers and 4 Qs. I just dont. And I was super excited by Howard coming into camp. But how has looked any different then Johnny Sucknuts who finished for Buffalo last night. Honestly. I will certainly trust MM. If he thinks hes worth a roster spot so be it. But I do not think they are carrying four for the season. Its not feasible.

If they keep 4 here's what I think is happening. They will have the initial 53. Then prior to season they expose Howard to waivers and hope he clears with teams focused on their own business. It wouldn’t be clear hes better then anyone's third. His conky might even help with that. But if they are actually serious about carrying four.....what happens first time you lose someone for 2 weeks?

Howard I would agree with, but Rudy would gain some net capital.

Rudy is a perfect bac k-up QB, perfect team mate, low cost, and very likeable / approachable.

You just mentioned 99.9% of all career back ups that know that is what they are. You act there only a handful out there.

I would cut Howard and put him on the practice squad. Coach M gave him 2 starts and he was average at best. Just my take.

Everyone is fixated on QB2,3,4 while Aaron is flying under the radar. I have barely seen any info on Rodgers. Has he looked good in camp? I know they won't cut him, but is a declining Rodgers with -5 mobility still better than Mason? I don't think Mason is the answer, but with our line and the way Rodgers moved last year it's concerning.
Why does everyone think AR was immobile last year? He was rushed by ****** O-line play, but he can still move well enough.

Keeping 4 QBs is crazy unless they are doing it temporarily. Maybe you carry 4 QBs into week 1 because you think you can trade Rudolph or Howard, or you think it makes it more likely Howard makes it to the practice squad.

Other than that, there's no way they can carry 4 QBs without hurting depth. Anybody who watched preseason knows we need all the OL depth we can get, as well as WR.

I get this and I don’t
They should likely keep 9 OL
I’d expect 6 receivers

But when the talent isn’t there in a WR room why just keep extra marginal players? That solves less problems than a 4th QB does imho.

DK, Pittman, Bernard, Wetjen, Wilson and Skowronek seem like the top prospects to make the roster.
I can’t see anyone beyond that remotely worthy of having a spot, and that is NO endorsement of Wilson cuz I don’t think he really has ever earned a spot…but I think they’ll keep him because as you pointed out there is a lack of talent in the room.

To me Wilson and Wertjen are redundant, and neither has done anything much to actually EARN a spot, simply an untalented bench and draft position make them the likely options to round out the room.
