Not many surprises.

RB - I thought Nichols would make the team. Interesting to see Heidenreich is listed as a RB/WR. I still think he can be valuable, but they need to get him in space and use him more as a receiver than as an inside runner.

OL - Not a surprise, but it was clear McCollum would make the team after Jones was traded. It still feels like we need an OT.

DL - I was not expecting Kevin Jobity Jr. to make the roster. Glad Rubio is on there, he seemed like a lock after his preseason performance.

Other than that, the roster went as expected. In terms of depth...safety is THIN.

Hit 51 of 53 and only missed having Kaleb and Broderick on the roster (the traded guys).

Was hoping it would be a touch less predictable in Big Mike’s first year.

Moves should be made to fill out safety and RB depth as there are cut guys that look better than what we have in the back end of the roster.

Surprised Howard wasn’t to IR with Elliot

That's 10 for 10 on draft picks making the final 53. That is rare. Plus 1 f/a Jaboty from Syracuse. That is impressive.

Also a sign that Tomlin left a very barren cupboard on the offensive side of the ball.

7 offensive draft picks make the squad, 11 guys in total on offense that were not with the Steelers last year (11/26 for 42% change)

He sure didn’t leave the house stocked like Cowher did for him.

Im guessing someone ( maybe howard) gets ir'd tomorrow and Roberts comes back

Once again,these guys will make or break our chances. With all that draft capital there are still more questions than answers.

Troy……let’s hope the transition goes smoothly
Mason….tailed off a lot late last season. Let’s hope that was not an indication of the future.
Zack…..no problems. Pro Bowler coming up
Spencer….questions
Dylan….tailed totally off. I thought had a lousy preseason. Questions
Max……obvious potential. But we don’t have a clue.
Ryan…Good depth. Starter? Questions.
Gennings……same as Max. We don’t have a clue.
Brock…depth.
The preseason was brutal for our OLine.

It’s one thing if we had a QB with mobility. For Aaron’s last season they would have had to supply him with solid starters all the way around. They had better get their **** together. I predict many two yard passes and balls thrown into the turf.
Any team that plays us should be putting the Texans game on loop.

Thought MM usually ran with 3 or 4 ILB from
what I’ve seen of his past rosters, 4 seems like plenty. Thought he usually kept at least 7-8 DL.
I’d expect more 3 DL sets this year and probably less 2 ILB sets…just a hunch. More NT play to eat up blockers and keep LBs cleaner.

The safety depth is real thin, they must be counting. Ramsey as a S as well.

Ready to actually see some starters play, that’s for sure. Hard to have a clue what anything will really look like yet.

Ryan McCollum is a Center only, if someone might be a starter is Brock sitting Spencer

I didn’t see Kevin Jobity Jr making it, didn’t see Eli making it due to Homer’s special teams ability. Didnt see Elliot starting on the PUP.

Think the team is still weak at:

* S depth to start
* WR depth
* T depth

Glad they got another pick (for Kaleb) to add to next years haul)

Congrats to the ones who made it and best wishes to the ones who didn’t.

I am sure a decent amount will circle back to the PS.

So let’s talk kick returning…

Is it Wetjen, Eli, or maybe even Roman?

Would like to see all 3 get some chances
I would guess WetJen and Eli…

My dislike for Roman as a WR might be unfairly tunnel vision his capable.

Maybe.

aint no way.

Why he is on the 53 remains to be seen. I would have kept Doug Nester as a back up tackle. At least we would have 4. SPencer Anderson played center , and we have Hoffman too. McCollum to me doesnt measure up.

Safety looks anorexic

From looking around available:

T/G Matt Pryor
WR Cedric Tillman
S Geno Stone ( already mentioned on the site)

Yep MM is usually thin on Ilb and S compared to Tomlin, who always had a couple extra

Mm left his sta mp on offense in 2 season. Huge change. Let's see how it turns out on the field
