I agree Dino. Itā€™s nice to see a guy that I thought performed very well during preseason get rewarded. Especially aā€who is this guy?ā€ Person when drafted. Some scouts definitely had their eye on him.

Being a fighting Irish fan, I watched the young man playā€¦
He didnā€™t get a ton of time, but when he did, he made plays when his number was called!

I hope that translate into the NFL and the Steelers found themselves another Brett Kiesel..

It always helps when the new regime comes in and most likely values their picks over the other regime picks. It simply is what it is.

I remember when I first stumbled across the matchup that he had against the rats high regarded Numero uno. I saw he had the ability to shine as a run defender.

I knew some fans were doing the late round -doubting his roster chances. Then he flashed that same ability. There will always be a place for players that can excel at a decent level against the run.

They will hope he can develop beyond his bull rush and I get that. But if the team can get a guy that wrecks an area of run gap assignments just plug those holes, he can be a valuable asset to stopping the run. Sprinkle him in on short yardage plays if availableā€¦

We need to see what he can do against NFL-caliber offenses, however, there was a lot to like. He was stout at the point of attack and held his ground well. What I liked most was his hustle to make plays away from the line. Reminds me of high effort plays from Heyward and other good DL the Steelers have had over the years.

I think it was the DK podcast that was talking about the young guys will bring an extra gear that the older vets don't on the DL. Almost seems like potential for 4th-line energy players in hockey. Not always the most talent, but put in a few minutes of hustle plays and are a pain in the rear for the opposition. The early 2000s Steelers developed a strong line with a high pick (Hampton) and filled out the line with day 3 picks and unheralded free agents (Smith, Keisel, Kimo). With a good developmental program, the group of Benton, Harmon, Black, and Rubio could be a good foundation for years to come. Let's hope for a big step forward from start to finish this season.
