In the end. Porter Jr. Waited for the market which anyone could see was gonna be hot. The Steelers chose to spend their money on bigs. I dint think they are paying 30 million on a Corner. And frankly I don't think they are a SB contender this year and certainly won't be for the next couple. Take the pick(s).

I don't blame the players. They see the money the organizations are making...secure money with pretty much no risk...this isn't like other businesses where there is some chance of loss involved. Nobody wants to go see a bunch of owners or execs running around out there. The players know who fans are coming to see. Careers are so short, the NFL is such a greed machine, I'd take as much as I could get, too. We fans are the stupid ones. If we would stop going to games, stop buying the ticket, etc., then things might change.

I get that they are 100 about the $$$ 100% of the time, that is a personal decision so that imo they do get the blame for as far as being likable
I don’t begrudge them getting paid, but when it does become 100 about the $$$ 100% of the time that’s just a priority they set for themselves.

The Steelers have been giving more guaranteed money than they used to. I can see $28 million per year for 4 years, with $60 million guaranteed. I hope they don't go higher than $30 million per. I also would not be upset if they got him for 5 years at $30 million per.

Ramsey as well, he had a contract issue with a prior team and hold out.
I understand the player / money relationship, sometimes there is barrier on what is claimed as self-worth and reality of pay.
There has to be middle ground and not just one side saying this is the amount, pay or I attempt a hostage situation.

One BIG boom would be revolking the “Anti-Trust” statis they so lovingly enjoy.
The dictatorship / monopoly / Greed Machine would develope cracks.
Teams would become more individualized in product.
This NFL Greed Machine has gotten way out of hand and to monopolized for the general FAN who has been bombarded with manipulation that this is the entertainment we need to survive the work week.

What did Pogo say...We have met the enemy, and he is us. Because of the love of the game, the public is willing to shell out a significant portion of their hard-earned income just to watch a game in person or even on TV for that matter. A couple of grand to see the Chargers last year, and $400 for the privilege of watching the NFL on the tube this year. I don't begrudge players seeking the most they can get, we all do that at every annual evaluation at work, it's just that the numbers are significantly lower in our life's work.

The only $$ I spent on the NFL is the Sunday ticket. Not sure what to doth year I retire. I guess move to the Burg or miss some games.
I hope both sides realize they are better sticking together.

I agree he will want more guaranteed, but I hope they don't cave. Give him 2+ years guaranteed, and then maybe a roster bonus down the line.
I spend nothing on the NFL. Not to prove some point, though. Hobbies. And these 70-80 year old guys at the gun club are now selling off some of the stuff they collected over the years. And that is my weakness. So if it's between the NFL or that Winchester, the Winchester wins.

Pain. They could do it tomorrow it could still happen today or Joey will be forced to man up and play for his pay. They do have him by the short and curly’s.

With so many players making 50 million plus over their career and several making in the hundreds of millions you’d think they could easily band together and start a player funded league.
They certainly see all the money the owners are making

I’d hope he realizes a hold out won’t garner much in his favor.
He has these options
1) come to terms with extension,
2) Play under current contract (he obligated to do so) and hope he doesn’t regress in level of play, hurting his eventual payday
3) Play lights out and really drive up his value, we are talking top 1 or 2 CB in the NFL. (I think this is very unlikely to happen)

They could have signed him before all the other CBs got their paydays, but had to pay Herbig, Benson, Pittman et. al. Omar has fumbled the ball on this one.
Maybe Omar didn’t fumble it. Perhaps JPJ ( and perhaps his dad) has over valued himself

That is a really big assumption. It is entirely possible that Joey didn’t want to sign before everyone else because he wanted to see what everyone else got it.

JPJ would not have signed, he was waiting till the market showed itself.
It’s easy to say they should-have, but it takes his signature before they can.
