Joey Porter Jr.............................. not dad

Woodson was far superior to JpJ.

Bet it’s more than a few million too.

I’d wager it’s quite a bit of guaranteed the greedy agent and Dad is seeking…and they are apart over 20 million judging from past Steeler contracts and the aforementioned greedy agent.

Thought you could use a hand in clarification…………..

Time to move on from him.

We need to focus on players ready and willing to play.

So, You’re saying we don’t need hostages…………….. seems I’ve heard that somewhere before…..

I think teams should just let guys sit or play out their contract. I dont know why so many teams cave into the demands of a new contract or trade.

That's just it, the Steelers don't negotiate once the season starts.

They are letting him play out his rookie contract, the one he signed hence he was drafted.

I hear yaz jitter77 !!!

Then put the link in this chat…I wonder where teams like the Bills and Packers who have massively outperformed Rooney the past 10 years compare in the billions of dollars their owners are worth compared to the billions of dollars Rooney is worth….

Until then a man worth ONLY 1.2 Billion Dollars who owns an organization that runs ONLY 50 million in the black a year isn’t cash strapped and can write whatever contract he wants, unless of course his personal wealth and how it was done 40 years ago takes priority over winning

Now that Tomlin is gone AR II alone wears this playoff win drought and the poor drafting and Kahn’s incompetence like a big frickin sombrero and no amount of excuse making from you justifies his ineptitude

The Packers aren't ranked due to their unique ownership. The Bills owner is almost 4 times wealthier than the Rooney's and has alternate sources of income. I don't get what you're not understanding in that Mike Brown and Art Rooney rely solely on the team's income and do not have outside revenue sources. Even other owners whose net worth is not far off of our have income from other sources. And please tell me how the Packers have "massively" outperformed the Steelers. Or even the Bills for that matter. until they got Josh Allen, they were a joke and even then, still haven't won anything of note. Same with the Packers, what have they won? The Steelers have been far more consistently competitive year in and year out. You want a new playing surface? You want stadium updates? The teams percentage of that expense has to come directly out of the same pool of money that would pay players. Looking at the rankings there is a strong correlation between net worth and success for many teams. The Steelers honesly have donebetter than many on that basis.

I caught the end of an interview yesterday on 93.7 The Fan where the writer being interviewed speculated that there is no trade interest for Porter around the NFL as nobody is interested in paying him his contract demand.

The Vikings, Bears, and Lions owners are only slightly ahead of Rooney in wealth and are running circles around him the past 5 years in team performance, but you keep making excuses for him like you always do….

If it was up to Rooney Tomlin and his feckless coaching staff would still be here, but excuse away…

Only in your world view have they “done better than many” without a playoff win in a decade

JPJ is a very good football player. On any given Sunday he can take the opposing teams WR1 off the field. However, on any given Sunday he could get a ref crew that will PI his *** to death.I think that he has overvalued himself. I think 20 to 23 million with a good chunk of GM and a nice signing bonus is where he would land. If he is thinking 30 million it might be headed to Leveon Bell time. I hope I am wrong but this is starting to get ugly.

I think he has to go on the field and play now.

The Steelers won’t negotiate with him now that the season has started, it doesn’t appear anyone has stepped forward with a trade offer the Steelers would be satisfied with (which says something about his value in the market), and he risks damaging his value by being perceived as a bad actor if he keeps sitting out or claiming some bs injury-but who knows what’s in his head or what his camp is telling him

Stop playing games trying to pacify his entitled *** and start fining him. If he wants to sit out the year, let him. Franchise his *** next year, if he wants to sit out again, see who wants a DB that hasn't played in 2 years. See how long he can go on not making any money.

So wait... they are cheap but paid TJ and DK top of their positions and overpaid a bunch of other guys, but didnt grossly overpay one guy and that makes them cheap?

Pick a lane dude.. one agenda or the other.. you cant play both sides of the narrative.

Ben publicly called out the Steelers for being cheap
They have been cheap in the past, well documented.
They have overpaid DK, Herbig, Washington the past 2 years.
They went from being cheap with guys like Bell who produced to overpaying for backups and second rate talent.
Two things can be true at the same time.

Yep. If its not a great trade, let him pout. Don’t let guys force their way out unless we get paid back.

Is anyone surprised? Whoever came up with those demands is a total clown

See where things are later in the season before the trade deadline. If we aren't looking good and a team is desperate at the position heading to the playoffs, they may be able to get a 2nd for him. Even then, I can't imagine any team coughing up a 1st for him. Take the 2nd if that's all that is on the table.

Regardless of where things land with Joey, the Steelers have done the team a disservice by overpaying non-starters and taking too damn long with starters.

The team should have mentioned publicly -- in the spring -- that signing Joey was a priority and that they have opened discussions. Negotiation includes forcing your partners hand, like Heyward and TJ did last season.

From another perspective, it looks like the team may not really respect those players in need of new contracts.

That does not help with trade value at all.

Sign Joey!

If he refuses to play this week I say put him on the 8-week IR for his "back injury".
He's still on his rookie contract and pulling this bull**** about a year too soon.

Can’t really do that if he claims he’s injured.
That’s why I said put him on the 8 week IR so he can think about it.

If the true measure is Super Bowls which is what most of you say it is, then I don't see any difference. You also stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the importance of outside revenue streams for other owners. I wouldn't trade our franchise for any of the ones you mentioned. Whether you want to accept it or not, it is a fact that the escrow clause in the CBA dramatically affects the Bengals and Steelers more than any other team due to the owners' financial situations. Both have done pretty well regardless, but you can only have so much tied up in escrow with limited cash flow. Cash flow and profit on paper are not the same thing. I owned a profitable business and was still cash poor due to inventory on hand being paid for with money that was profit. Escrow for players is basically the same thing.

Dulac reporting that Porter left practice early today a day after the Steelers changed his designation.

They were not cheap with Bell, they offered him top dollar, they just didn't guarantee enough for his liking. See my discussion with Avoid Lloyd. Steelers stars tend to get their money guarantees or not.

If he plays this game and misses a full year of playing, he'll be playing somewhere next year on a one year prove it contract. It is hard to come back and be the same after missing a year. It can be done but... Heck, look at Lev Bell. He very well could have had a HOF career if he stayed in Pittsburgh. He played his games and was nothing when he started playing again.

The money JPJ is losing for not signing with the Steelers before the season will never be recovered. He lost $25 to $30 million that he will never recover. Dumb move by he and his dad.
