Ok hold on now, Maybe we need to increase global warming! Winter Is Coming!

Oh I get the distinction. I continue to fail to understand why you continue to bring this up, as if it is somehow relevant to the discussion. "Hey, hey, hey look at me, I can define drought!" We are trying to discuss a water disaster, of which "drought" is one issue. All you want to do is remind everyone of what drought means....as if this has meaning to the discussion.

CA is suffering a drought. CA is a unique disaster because of the drought and ridiculous decision making that have left reservoirs empty and prevented the build of other reservoirs.

Droughts aren't preventable, but the means to deal with them are. And CA is ill-prepared to handle this drought.

And to combat your point, drought problems all over the state have everything to do with things like the delta smelt. No one said they are the cause of the drought, but these foolish decisions leave the state ill-prepared to combat the effects of the drought...so they are indeed related.

You replied to a post which had the California drought as the subject, not "water disaster". Where did that even come from?

Drought is one issue? Well, if by "one issue" you mean the CAUSE, OK, sure. It's entirely relevant.

The wildfires are numerous and spread across thousands of square miles. How does reservoir management combat that?

You continue to drone on that the problem is drought. Other states around the union have successfully combated droughts...because, they were bright enough to have a contingency plan. Further reservoir building has been prohibited in California. Delta smelt lead to billions of gallons of water being dumped into the ocean.

So let's define the problem. Is the problem drought? Or is the problem that California is about to run out of water? I'll argue that the problem is the latter, and I'll argue the causes of that problem are many - drought, poor planning, poor water management, environmental legislation, and piss poor government.

If you want to argue that the only cause of the problem in California is the drought, then you're vision is narrow.

California Is Turning Back Into A Desert And There Are No Contingency Plans

Once upon a time, much of the state of California was a barren desert. And now, thanks to the worst drought in modern American history, much of the state is turning back into one. Scientists tell us that the 20th century was the wettest century that the state of California had seen in 1000 years. But now weather patterns are reverting back to historical norms, and California is rapidly running out of water. It is being reported that the state only has approximately a one year supply of water left in the reservoirs, and when the water is all gone there are no contingency plans.

Because there is no contingency plan, we all will suffer, nationwide, due to the importance of California's agriculture to our food supply.

As I discussed in a previous article, the rest of the nation is very heavily dependent on the fruits and vegetables grown in California. The following numbers represent California’s contribution to our overall production…

-99 percent of the artichokes

-44 percent of asparagus

-two-thirds of carrots

-half of bell peppers

-89 percent of cauliflower

-94 percent of broccoli

-95 percent of celery

-90 percent of the leaf lettuce

-83 percent of Romaine lettuce

-83 percent of fresh spinach

-a third of the fresh tomatoes

-86 percent of lemons

-90 percent of avocados

-84 percent of peaches

-88 percent of fresh strawberries

-97 percent of fresh plums

Without the agricultural production of the state of California, we are in a massive amount of trouble.

News flash, southern California is a desert. If people hadn't built millions of houses and moved there because the weather is great, it would be a desert. Deserts have droughts. That's why they're deserts.

Wait..........does that mean that Phoenix might also be in the desert?

I think it might be. Tolerable from October to May, but a tad on the toasty side the other months.

You may be on to something.

Boycott the Pope!

Catholic congressman says he will boycott Pope Francis over climate change stance

"If the Pope stuck to standard Christian theology, I would be the first in line," he wrote. "If the Pope spoke out with moral authority against violent Islam, I would be there cheering him on. If the Pope urged the Western nations to rescue persecuted Christians in the Middle East, I would back him wholeheartedly. But when the Pope chooses to act and talk like a leftist politician, then he can expect to be treated like one."

Castro praises Pope's anti-capitalism stance

Cuban President Raul Castro welcomed Pope Francis in a long speech at the airport. In his speech, Castro said the communist government has "founded an equitable society with social justice" in Cuba and he praised the pope's critiques of the global economic system that has "globalized capital and turned money into its idol."

Castro thanked Francis for facilitating negotiations that led to a detente between the United States and Cuba. Castro is also calling for the end of U.S. trade embargo on Cuba, which he called "cruel, immoral and illegal," and the return of the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay.

Castro praised his country's socialist model for building a society "focused on human beings and the family" and said he's "firmly determined to ... build a just and virtuous society with high ethical and spiritual values."

The pope is expected to continue his travels to the United States and arrives in Washington on Sept. 22.

There, he will become the first pope to address Congress, where he is sure to discuss recent controversial views on the dangers of capitalism and that climate change is manmade.

Dissidents arrested as Pope Francis celebrates his first Mass in Cuba

Cuban authorities prevented leading dissidents from meeting Pope Francis in Havana on Sunday, in a sign of the Communist regime’s rigid intolerance of political opposition.

US must pay climate reparations!

With the Paris World Climate Summit taking place in three months, scientists and politicians are raising concerns over the speed at which the effects of climate change are being addressed. Recently, developing countries demanded that the United States and other wealthy nations pay reparations for climate refugees affected in their respective countries.

It is past time for the United States to pay its dues as it has a long history of climate inaction, and in 1997 was the only wealthy nation not to ratify the Kyoto Protocol, a document which, for many nations, represented a first step in reducing their carbon footprint. The United States has already felt the effects of a changing climate, such as Hurricane Katrina and Superstorm Sandy, and should mitigate the consequences of these disasters with the country’s abundant resources that poorer nations cannot afford.

The question of environmental reparations is a matter of ecology and humanitarianism. A changing climate could lead to a dangerous trajectory where the fight for resources in countries no longer able to provide for their own populations engage in civil wars or genocide. If a country’s resources are not enough to maintain an entire population, more extremist leaders would be willing to eliminate part of the population in order to have enough resources for the remaining inhabitants.

Finally, the United States should pay reparations because it is a matter of justice. Unless international organizations like the United Nations begin to financially penalize the United States for its irresponsible actions, it is unlikely that we will change our attitude.

So much Fail.

I don't know that the UN has the power to levy taxes. Besides, we're their largest supporter already.

I've solved the wind energy issue! you can thank me later.

In each state and DC, surround the capitol building and anywhere the legislature meets with wind turbines facing toward the government buildings. Boom! constant wind generation from the constant hot air. you could also set up methane tanks to capture the methane from all of the bullshit.

you are welcome

Debunking the 97% 'consensus' on global warming
By Thomas Lifson

The main pillar of the warmist argument is the contention that a "consensus" exists among scientists that global warming is caused by man and threatens catastrophe. But a Canada-based group calling itself Friends of Science has just completed a review of the four main studies used to document the alleged consensus and found that only 1 - 3% of respondents "explicitly stated agreement with the IPCC declarations on global warming," and that there was "no agreement with a catastrophic view."

How did Clinton put it. depends on what 'is' is and how ya ask it.

But, hey, it isn't about wealth redistribution.

Well, maybe just a little but we don't want to be blatant about it.

Here's an article that shows what will happen if yinz don't get with the program.

Documents Reveal Dem Efforts to Discredit EPA Critics

The previously unreported documents, obtained by the Energy and Environment Legal Institute through an open records request and shared exclusively with the Free Beacon, provide a window into the Democratic messaging machine’s approach to an issue that its own pollsters acknowledge is a hard sell among its target voter demographics.

It proposed that Democrats “strongly and consistently sow doubts about our opponents motives when responding to any criticism of the Climate Action Plan or its components,” including EPA regulations.

“The key to success is a visible adversary,” the memo said. “In this case, that adversary is power companies, though this line of messaging easily could be adapted to encompass the coal industry or any other dirty energy advocate.”

The memo suggested blaming rate hikes on power companies themselves despite acknowledging the widespread view that EPA regulations would raise electricity rates. “Big power companies are using pollution limits as an excuse to raise rates—and we shouldn’t let them get away with it,” suggested one talking point.

Another talking points memo circulated a few days earlier expanded on Hart’s approach to undermining opposition to the EPA rule. “Big Polluters Put Profits Over People,” was one talking point suggestion. “Big Polluters Are Bad Corporate Citizens and Pollute Communities,” read another.

It also proposed attacking “polluters,” which it defined to include power companies and their “allies,” for “doing all they can to avoid paying their fair share” in taxes, and for “pay[ing] their CEOs millions of dollars each year.”

Sam Ricketts, the director of Washington Gov. Jay Inslee’s Washington, D.C., office, sent that memo to a group of aides to other Democratic governors. He also included a template for statements on the EPA rule that suggested blaming some local extreme weather event on climate change.

My man, Ted Cruz

I just heard that on Jim Quinn's show this morning. BOOM! How does it feel to look like a ******* moron?

I liked how the dude testifying had to look back to get guidance on the questions "Have you heard the phrase 'the Pause'?" and "Do you know what it means?" WTF. Why would you need to consult with someone on that?
