Things that need to be improved in the offseason to go further in next years playoffs

The Steelers were dealt with injuries. Bell and Williams were accidents so thats something not really coached or prepared. I think Toussaint would've had a break through game if he got more playing time during the season. Thats something you really dont plan for. As for defense, I do feel that is the much needed side of the team that needs re loading

exactly

now remember that was two significant injuries to two RBs that had significant injuries prior to the seasons play.

So both RBs are arguably one significant injury away from being injury prone moving forward.

Which brings us back to the depth could use one more RB upgrading the third spot.

Coats has more big play potential. It's clear. He needs to be on the field instead of Wheaton.

In no way is Wheaton a weak link on this team. He may not have the big play potential that Bryant has, but his hands are much more reliable. I like the kid, and think he deserve playing time. If Brown were healthy, I'd sit Spaeth and activate Coates, but no way I'd not have Wheaton out there.

1) Prior to the draft resign Beachump, address depth on the roster by signing mid tier FA's.

2) If a QB is falling in the draft look to trade out for a high 2nd this year and a first next year.

3) Except if there is a highly rated big ole bubblebut NT on the board.

4) Draft CB, Safety, TE, OLB

5) Get Jesse James in the weight room, he is looking better than Heath.

6) Get a punter, really, just like you did with BOS, find someone who could boom the ball in college and sign him.

7) Over the Summer make AB a Steeler for life.

...and that was my point...as this thread is about what should be done to improve as a whole.

Coates IMO should be ahead of Bey, but not Wheaton or Bryant. Not yet...

I think Coates can actually pull ahead of Wheaton. Idk, but Coates wows me more physically. Wheaton knows the ins and outs of the offense though

I think Coates will be better next year, and I look forward to seeing him on the field. As well as Jesse.

I would look into a running back for the draft. But as a coach I do think 3 is enough. Imo TE(Heaths replacement needs to be addressed). I feel that could've eased up the load on Ben/Toussaint

Agreed

James is going to have a break out year. I think they need one more TE though

They MUST find a better pass rush, be it on the current roster, draft, or FA. Frustrating watching opposing QBs have all day to throw the ball. Sacks numbers improved, great, but QB hurries matter just as much.

...We have an experienced backup QB, he's just on IR this year. Of course he hurt his shoulder in practice before camp started, so there may be a problem there.

I read somewhere - I'll try to find it - that Gradkowski has been healthy for weeks now. But when they put Pouncey on IR-Recallable, they had no choice but to put Gradkowski on the shelf for the whole season.

Looking back, it was Gradkowski who should have been designated to return (not Pouncey).

Possibly that or a RB.

Thing is there is enough question marks to try to eliminate the biggest one(s) in free agency.

Then you can pick the BPA.... and if it is CB fine, SS fine, TE fine, pass rusher fine, RB fine.

I don't want the Steelers to have to go CB in 1.

I am hoping the fix comes before the draft.

And frankly I wouldn't overpay for Pouncey when his contract is up but they probably will.

3 is enough... I just feel the third one needs upgrading. I think Heath still has a year left in him, not sure this is the year to replace him.

As I don't think the TE position hurt us this year.

I am more about fixing the weaknesses or the biggest potential to hold the Steelers back at the end of the year.

And we know besides the secondary and spotty pass rush. RB position failed them at a untimely moment.

I think Golson will pan out at S. RB is least of concern. CB? Just bench Blake. Look for a second TE. Or even after reading the above post. A QB for when Ben goes down

Ha!

Its hard to say Slash. There is a lot the Steelers can do and improve. Guess we will have to see how the offseason unfolds

They won't bench Blake they proved that... I would prefer him not to be on the roster.

Golson played ok, but he isn't pro bowl material.

Allen is old in the tooth, a SS is needed.

I just don't get how anyone thinks either RB will stay healthy next year. At the least it is a question mark.

T&T didn't have a consecutive good game... To think either is the answer behind Williams and Bell at this point is a reach IMO.

So if a RB is the BPA sitting there, do you take a lesser talent?

I simply think besides QB you take that BPA.

Other than I feel Toussaint didnt have experience. I agree with all that you said

I like Golden.

A solid backup.

true ok with him as a backup.

Just that D still is a few pieces shy, and a upgrade to either Blake or SS, could do wonders for the D.

I think Dupree will be a decent pass rusher. I think the Steelers should maybe draft a sack specialist in 3-5 area.

I think, at best, Blake is the fourth CB.

His place will be on special teams -- if he has a place at all.

I'm no expert, so I'm not one that will argue who is better than who with regards to players, I trust the coaches know what they're doing.

But Landry Jones? Even I can see he doesn't have it. What are the coaches seeing in the guy?

Looks so slow, has this indifferent attitude about him.

How many years does Ben have left, anyone have a rough idea?

If Ole Ben gains 10 - 15 more pounds, next year will effectively end his productive years. An athlete's legs are the first sign of body degeneration (see Troy over the last two years of his career) with subsequent loss of quickness, mobility, and straight line speed. If a sincere attempt at a serious 25 lb. (or more) weight loss program and significant body fat index reduction results, Ben’s longevity improves dramatically. Weight gain toward the end of any athlete’s career is dangerous if not fatal!

Additionally, getting into dedicated professional athlete cardio-vascular condition vs. a casual "beer drinkers" approach extends robustness significantly. The above measures require sacrifice and genuine motivation and must come from within. Time will tell if these factors exist! I hope that Alex Karass’s quote that, “It is hard to be hungry with a ham on your back does not apply here!

I might be crazy, but it wouldn't shock me if they try to trade Pouncey. I just got the feeling Tomlin was a little annoyed with him and the whole tweet stuff that was going on. if they can get a 1st or 2nd for him, i trade him
