All these players we're resigning for way below thier market value, they love playing for the Steelers, they love playing for Mike Tomlin, they want to win a championship. We do a good job finding good, unselfish, team players. No doubt in my mind Foster, Gay, and even Golden and D.Bey could've gotten a bigger pay day in FA but they're sticking around. Good for the team and I really like this team chemistry we have.

The Rooney was is a proven successful way. Players who leave usually don't do **** for the teams they go to. We build our team with players to fit our system. Those who have left for big money usually flame out because they don't fit in the new system and then beg to come back. I know we all over analyze our team but many tests and players are jealous of what we have and if givin the chance they jump to come here. Green could have waited and surly got a bigger contract somewhere but he recognized the Steeler way and knew this was the team that he has the best fit for. Like I always say, we ***** and moan but the rooney way is a proven way.

Who is to say they are signing for below market value? Is anybody outside of Steelernation saying this? I think you guys might have black and gold glasses on.

Ah yes, the "Steeler Way", Godbless the "Steeler Way"

Fleener 5yr $36m, Dwayne Allen 4yr $29m, Ladarius Green 4yr $20m

We got the best of the 3 for the cheapest. That doesn't happen by accident.

Just posted this quote in the Foster thread, but it's worth sharing again.

“It's not about the money. It's about chasing that ring. Can you imagine what a seventh Super Bowl in Pittsburgh would look like? I mean, the parade, the rings, the diamonds — that right there is what I'm searching for.” -Ramon Foster

Best is a matter of opinion.

If you can prove that Green turned down the multi-millions that Fleener and Allen got so he could sign with the Steelers I'll believe it, until then I think you're seeing things in black and gold.

yeap, if not the best at least at the same level of production and with more size and speed.

So are you saying you'd rather have Fleener or Allen over Green? Hell, all contracts being equal, I'd still choose Green so the fact we got him cheaper than the other 2 is awesome. That's hardly seeing things in black and gold, I just happen to like Green over the other two and I had the same feeling even before he signed with the Steelers.

Obviously we'll never know what other offers were on the table, if any. Agents base their client's open market worth off the going rate of others at their position so that's what I'm basing my argument on as well.

Average corners are getting more than what Gay re-signed for and everyone can agree he's at a minimum average (black and gold glasses or not), therefore we can assume he could've taken more money elsewhere if he wanted to based off the going rate of similar corners.

Gay already left Tomlin and the Steelers for more money once. Gay, Foster, DHB are on the backside of their careers and want to win, Golden wasn't going to get much in Free Agency and he has a chance to play a ton here. When is the last time a guy in their prime took big discount to stay here. I love the Steeler way and all, but it's not as huge of a deal as some make it sound to be.

Helps knowing that they're on the door step of a Lombardi. The Patriots are the only team standing in their way.

I love how the Patriots keep getting **** blocked....Titans just signed Rishard Matthews.....Jets sign Matt Forte.
Looks like the Dolphins will get CJ Andersen.....love it

No. I'm saying I find it very hard to believe that players are turning down millions of dollars to play for the Steelers and as a result, the Steelers are signing them below market value.

A player and agent might agree to a contract because the team has let it be known that it "comes off the table" if they pass on it and they don't want to press their luck, but I'm fairly certain they aren't passing knowing they could get millions more elsewhere. Especially the agents.

Then we both agree Green is the best option of the 3. Allen is the one who signed first and set the market rate for starting TE's. Fleener followed next with a predictably bigger deal based off of what Allen got. Then how does Green, who just about everyone here agrees has the most potential and better film than the other two, get significantly less money than apparently inferior players who signed before him? Does he just have a horrible agent, or is it possible he wants to play for a team with a good reputation, a good chance at a SB, and play for one of the most potent offenses in the league and took a bit of a discount to do so?

But Gay did just sign for less than he could've gotten elsewhere because he regretted leaving the Steelers the first time. Harrison did the same thing when he left for Cinci and came back for less. How many guys do you see after they leave a team, cry in interviews when talking about how they miss their former teammates, coaches and owners? Harrison, Ike, Gay, Ward are living examples of the Steeler way. Not every player the Steelers have ever signed is like that obviously, but it does exist to an extent.

Harrison was released by Cincy, hell we actually offered him more than Cincy did in the first place I think and he still left. I don't think Gay was going to get much, he's 31, not very athletic, and is a great fit for our system. Ward held out awhile for more money. Now I agree, when players leave they miss it here and the way things are run, but guys rarely turn down a ton of money just to stay here. Foote is another one that left for more money, then came back.

Harrison was asked to take a pay cut. He declined and was about to sign with Baltimore (for less money then we asked him to take in the cut) but they got Dumerville so they quietly asked him to leave
