Bell suspended

I justed checked. His twitter account has been locked down. Did Bell say it was a fake? Not sure if I'd believe him right now.

It wasn't fake he was on there regularly and it stopped as soon as the report came out (this new one)

Bryant also took down his Facebook.

Ceech and Chong are apparently very sensitive over the backlash from this.

With neither wanting to man up and talk about it.

This younger generation,

It wasn't fake. Funny, cause I thought Bell had his head on straight. The guy does put in work during the off season and it does show. Just be responsible

There was an account going back and forth with fans after the news broke. That wasn't Bell. He a has twitter account but the one going back and forth wasn't his

Again, Bell and Bryant are both idiots but they are also both addicts. Bryant is trying to get clean but Bell obviously has yet to admit to his addiction. Both made the choice to smoke pot and both are now drug addicts.

Something I just read on Steeler Depot. Bell has just successfully completed his 15 month probation for the DUI. It stated that during that time he was to abstain drugs or alcohol. Now I would assume the only way probation would know that is if he was being tested. So if he passed the probation drug tests, and he must have to have completed it, could that perhaps change the outcome of this?

doesn't take away from him missing tests.

I doubt it changes anything............

I am sure you are right. It was just an interesting thought to me. Because I guess the NFL says missing a test is a positive test. However, if he could prove he had negative tests in that time frame?

Knowing a little about probation (no, I wasn't on it, I worked with it) they never tested him. He probably saw his PO the first time after his court hearing and that was it.

Unless he was dumb enough to think his probation drug tests counted as NFL drug tests. I'm just speculating, but he might be that stupid.

The precedence of Santonio Holmes (which I didn't agree with back in 2010) looms over this entire situation.

People that are rightfully asking.. "What makes Bryant and Bell different than Holmes?" are 100% correct. In the "Summer of Midville", Holmes was clearly used as a scapegoat for the ongoing Roethlisberger issues to show America that the Steelers don't just put up with bad apples. When he was looking at a 4-game suspension for pot, we cut ties with him faster than a bullet train. Traded him for a 5th round pick.

Same situation with Bell. Last year of his rookie contract. Same infraction. Same suspension.

And you could just as much argue Holmes' contributions to this team up to that point in their career was extremely similar to Bell's. Holmes was a freaking Super Bowl MVP if I remember correctly....

We'll see how this shakes out but you could definitely argue the "morals" (if you care about that sort of thing) of the team are declining. And the way this team acted with Holmes vs. Bell could be a telling sign.

Bell's case and Holmes' case are completely different. Bell never leaked dick pics...

If you got it, flaunt it. It looked like three Coke Zero cans taped together,

**** Bell and the other self promoters. Time for the OWNERS, not NFL, to stand up and say **** you. NFL is starting to look like the NBA. wish everyone signed was there for the team and the title, not promoting themselves. Bell can go be a rapper, snoop **** would promote him.

The leadership on this team is severely lacking. And it has been a drain since the Cowher players retired. If Pouncey, who has his share of off the field incidents and too many missed games due to injury is a team captain what does that tell you?

While it's very hard to directly quantify, the culture of the team has a lot to do with the head coach. Some teams have a lot of problem players, other do not. Some coaches have a track record working well with trouble players, others do not.

During Tomlin's tenure we have seen too many trouble players, and once they go bad, they don't seem to right their ship. Why is this so?

The Steelers have had some players that have been pot heads recently. Steelers problems are more immaturity than I would say trouble. Teams like the Cowboys and Ravens have had more drama player wise than the Steelers. Ray Rice incident(Ravens), Cowboys have drama all the time(2012 incident, Ezekial Elliot, Dez Bryant) Pats(Aaron Hernandez, cheating allegations) 49ers(Kaepernick drama, early retirements). The Steelers are tame in comparison. Pouncey has been the worst with his off field antics, but that's more immaturity than drama. I'm not gonna complain

What difference can Tomlin make you ask?

In Pittsburgh LeGarrette Blount was a ****-show of the highest order...

In New England he's a model citizen and highly productive player...

Coach CAN make a difference. Tomlin's team is not disciplined at all...

I have felt Coach Tomlin has been a little lacking on the discipline front. I bet it was the Rooney's who fired Blount and NOT Coach Tomlin. It sent a message, but not one that is right in front of the players face. The players know it wasn't Tomlin so they think it will take a major issue to get that to happen to them. Had Coach Tomlin walked in and point blank from the beginning said get your **** out of the locker and you get off our property, then there would be a little discipline fear in the rest of the team.

Missed test = Failed test as far as I am concerned...Another ******* idiot who cant put the bong down, grow the **** up and be a professional. So sick and tired of the bullshit we have to put up with on this team every year...

These two jackasses Bryant and Bell have completely derailed the Steelers chances at #7 this year. Say what you want but if these two selfish pricks wouldn't have put themselves in front of the team this offense would have been unstoppable this year.

I wonder how many players were smoking weed back in the 70s, when there was no testing? Considering that half of the Pirates were doing cocaine back then, I'm not naive enough to think that the NFL wasn't full of guys who liked to get high, especially in that era.

I think more than leadership it's taking talent over character. I simply don't believe there wasn't red flags on both of these players. They both have huge tangibles and they fell deep in the second and third round respectively. That isn't a coincidence. As I remember many of us wanted Eddie Lacy. It looked like the Steelers made the right choice. Then again maybe not.

Right. Randy Moss didn't seem to care on Oakland. Then he went to New England. The coach and culture can make a difference.

There is some bullshit here. After a few years NE was ready to rid itself of Randy Moss. Blount for some reason was available to sign with the Steelers after a solid year up in NE. Why? And in Moss's case, he was a PITA until he got older and decided he wanted to try to win a championship. These guys we are talking about with the Steelers are young.

One thing I mentioned before. One of the things you guys have ripped the Steelers taking Jarvis Jones on was his age. The Steelers are taking these younger guys. I have seen nothing but support for that philosophy here. I just wonder what do you expect? That year, year and a half in age and maturity can make a big difference.

Haha Belichek again.. so nothing about Hernandez. He took Hernandez who had all kinds of red flags. Then killed people and I'm not blaming the coach. But how do you blame one coach for his players actions then ignore for another ..do it for all or don't do it at all. Damn it's not that hard.

You do know you absolutely can't do that. There is a union that would fight that to high heaven..

We also offer a path to a championship for free agents.

The track record of New England and Arizona taking trouble players ( Moss and Blount ) and having them perform well is documented. Also, New England, unlike Pittsburgh seems a bit smarter in terms of when to unload trouble players. We keep them too long. Or give them long term deals.

The Steelers are drafting too many bad character types and lack the culture to keep these players out of trouble.

I have a theory. Prior off the field incidents, looking or acting like a gang banger and a low Wonderlic score ups the odds toward trouble off the field.

The Steelers have detailed background reports and references on the players before they draft them. The fans do not.

I think Bell is 50/50 to take and pass his next drug test. If he fails, he's pretty much gone for the season. The worst thing for fans is if Bell's hip-hop career starts selling more records.
