Bell suspended

That's tough man. If that truly is the case, his BEST move is to simply come out and tell everyone "I'm a ******* tool." "I'm so sorry. I didn't think long enough to consider that the NFL would need to contact me on my new phone cause I'm young and stupid. I realize now that I have no choice but to go to the NFL and beg them to recognize that I'm essentially a child, incapable of looking after myself." Seriously, that's what he's down to. That's the WIN for Leveon.

Owning up to it is the best solution. You really saw this in baseball. Those who denied the use of PEDs are still hated while those who owned up were basically forgiven.

The funny thing is he completed his probation stemming from his arrest. Part of the stipulations for that was he had to abstain from the weed and alcohol. Can't test negative for one test and not the other. Would be a shame if he was clean the whole time and is suspended because he didn't take the NFL tests or because the of the phone issue..

I made this point in another thread. Could that be his fallback? Hey, I tested negative for probation and completed all requirements, or I wouldn't be off probation. It would be a simple matter of producing those test results.

Unfortunately, if what I have heard about probation in other DUI cases is true, they see you pretty much one time after you go before the judge, and that's about it.

Well, there are two possibilities.

A) if he really missed the test because of pot, the answer is simple. addiction. That's the only logical reason a person risks THAT MUCH for so little.

B) if Leveon is being truthful about getting a new phone and simply being too dim-witted to register the number with the NFL offices so they could reach him for his tests, well dim-witted is precisely the correct term. He's apparently been baby-sat for so long that he's incapable of surviving in the wild. He needs to be monitored like a toddler and probably fed. I understand how you can let something like this slip, but this is such an epic ****-up, and after having worked so hard to clear his name...

doesn't this guy have an agent? shouldn't he be in continuous contact with this tool to advice him and guide him?, I'd do it if I got the commissions these leaches do (3%). It's a load of money that the agent is losing too with all this disaster

I think Bell is lying and lying only makes it worse. He was quoted saying he never missed a test. Doesn't look so good right now...

Its choice A all the way. On April 20th, the unofficial national pot day Bell tweeted about taking the NFL drug test.

Even if his phone number was changed he has an agent, and email address and the NFL reaching out to him in via mail on skipped tests.

Players and teams get letters from the NFL on such matters.

Now, apparently the collector with the NFL didn't do his job and supposedly gave Bell some incorrect info or didn't attempt to reach him at all. The plot thickens.

Team do not get letters from the NFL. Players can be put into the program and come out of the program and teams not know..teams only know when a suspension is going to be announced.

that sounds stupid, the team has a right to know what's going on with his own employee

While not saying this is the case, but I wonder what the possibility his probation wasnt as regimented as a regular Joe if folks handling his case were a little star struck. I know in Denver, that was pretty common.

Five things you probably didn’t know about the NFL’s drug policy

The NFL’s marijuana policy has been all over the news lately, from criticism of the league’s stance by the likes of Eugene Monroe, Derrick Morgan and Jake Plummer to SI Films’ upcoming in-depth look at Ricky Williams’s relationship with the drug and the sport. But how much do you really know about the sport's actual testing, intervention and discipline procedures? We dug into the details to bring you five things you might not know about the current rules.

1. The league’s substance abuse policy predates its PED protocol. Commissioner Pete Rozelle first introduced a loose recreational drug code, focused on education, in 1971; the preseason testing structure still used today came into being as part of the ’82 CBA—and suspensions didn’t begin until ’89. Separate language for steroids didn’t appear until ’83.

2. Players outside the “intervention program”—those who’ve never had a violation—are tested just once a year. Anyone under contract is tested once between April 20 (yup: 4/20) and Aug. 9. The player is given at most a three-hour warning before being visited by a collector, who must directly witness the player providing the urine sample.

3. For every player suspended under the policy, five to 10 others anonymously enter and exit the intervention program. Not even teams are made aware of a player’s positive test until he is suspended, which only occurs after multiple violations. Team physicians, however, have that information in order to prevent cross-medication issues.

4. Marijuana is handled differently from all other substances. The discipline procedures for marijuana abusers are less strict than violations for all other drugs. Clause 1.5.2(c) states that an additional offense is allowed before suspensions are leveled in cases involving marijuana. And up until that point, fines for positive tests are less steep.

5. Hundreds of people are involved in the program. There are generally two or three clinicians per NFL team who administer treatment plans for each player in the program. Then there’s the legion of agents who help conduct 15,000-plus tests each year. Combined with the steroid program, the NFL spends about $13 million per year on its drug programs.

Bell ****** up. That's all the needs to be said. I'm all for giving him another chance. If he ***** up again, I don't care how talented. Just cut ties with him. I'd rather have a team with less off field drama than some loaded talented teams with so much drama **** looks like day time soap operas

Maybe this isn't Bells **** up. I have changed my number and given it to my employer only to have them tell me the next day they couldn't reach me, when I told them I had given my new number already I got oh ok we must have not recorded it right. this was for a very large company that employed way more people than the NFL. Sometimes those that are in charge are the ones that make the mistakes.

I blame the evil Cheatriots*

Let's hope. He still needs to handle his smoking more responsibly. Nothing wrong with what he does, but if he knows the rules and missed "several" test. That's on him.

If a large employer missed Bell "several" times. I don't buy. Own up, take the four weeks to heal up the knee. I'll cheer for him when he comes back

There is this automatic assumption Bell has been smoking. He was on probation, in which he had to abstain, or at least that is what has been reported. Everybody is overlooking the probation aspect of this.

Look, I am not saying he won't get suspended. I just don't know if it is as cut and dried as some think.

Very overlooked aspect off this..he was able to get off probation. Can't do that if he was smoking

I think the NFL could **** up a wet dream. Look at deflategate for ***** sake. So I have zero confidence this isn't their **** up. Time will tell, bottom line is Bell seems pretty ******* focused to be blowing of tests and toking up.

Joe

I think we are giving Bell more credit than he deserves. He is on the watch list and does not show up, Does not look good.

Dude, you're living in a messed up country where your own 14 year old daughter can get an abortion without you EVER knowing about it. It's not your right as a parent to know about it. Oh HELL No! That's HER right.

Uh huh... Cause she's responsible enough to make THAT kind of life choice...

Sal Paolantonio says that the Steelers believe Bells suspension will be lifted.

I'd guess his only shot is that if he took and passed drug tests for his probation and the league will accept them.

The Liberty Bridge caught on fire today in Pittsburgh.

You have to be a dumb **** to ever get caught in the first place. You get tested one time a ******* year. And for what it's worth getting high or self medication isn't worth losing millions of dollars. I just don't get some of these guys. I guess you can't fix stupid.

When you're in the system, you get randomly checked multiple times per year.

Yes I knew that. Which makes guys who get busted even bigger dumb ***** or drug addicts.
