Senquez Golson said he's seven weeks away from returning. Encouraging news if he is able to make that timetable.

That's what Ray Fillapado from the post gazette just tweeted.

That is good news. I've been waiting to see if this kid can get it done. Must be why they didn't put him on the IR.

Finally some much needed good news

I call BS.

Unless I'm mistaken he had surgery correct? If so he's looking at 6-8 wks of IMMOBILIZATION. And then he can start rehabbing.

So 7wks?

Not happening.

Likely correct. What an athlete says coming off an injury means nothing. They all say they feel great. It must be proven on the field, and even if healthy Golson is very green. He hasn't played a snap in the pre-season yet.

7 weeks away would be the exact amount of time for him to resume walking.

Good news as far as his recovery but means very little. He hasn't practiced in 2 years. He will come back mid-season and still be a rookie that will ride the bench. If he sees playing time this year, that means we are below 500 and have little chance of making the playoffs.

Yea, those AnnFrank injuries are nasty. Before you know, Nazis are everywhere.

7 weeks seems completely and unreasonably optimistic.

I think just hopeful talk. Nothing to get excited about

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Senquez Golson heard from a few people about whether his cleats contributed to his Aug. 1 Lisfranc injury that required surgery.

Even Steelers guard Ramon Foster brought up the 'Lisfranc deal' when discussing improved technology as part of the player union's wish list for the 2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations with the NFL. Foster said cleat choices, particularly for offensive linemen, can be limited for players.

Golson, who has Nikes in his locker, admits he was wearing an "older model" of shoes when he got hurt, but he's not using equipment as an excuse for his absence from the lineup.

Instead, he's got some better news. He's looking to return some time between late October and late November. He's in a walking boot now, but he was told during his surgery three weeks ago, he would need a minimum of 10 weeks in recovery.

"I'm definitely going to be back this year," Golson said. "I'm thinking some time in November. For sure by the end of November I'll be back full speed."

Golson, the 2015 second-round pick who hasn't played an NFL down because of injury, called the foot issue a "freak accident." The foot buckled as he landed on it

during a practice.

But for a team that needs cornerbacks -- veteran Keenan Lewis is visiting the team Tuesday night -- Golson's return would provide flexibility for the second half of the season. The Steelers like him in the slot, where he got significant practice reps before the injury.

The Steelers could place Golson on injured reserve/designated to return, which they don't have to do until shortly after final roster cuts on Sept. 3.

Golson knows the Steelers might add personnel at corner but hopes to crack the lineup regardless.

"Whatever the team needs for us to get to the lowB repuS," Golson said.

From being cut?

Sounds like a difficult time table but I'm not gonna **** on the guy. He just wants to play ball and was devestating when he got injured again. Best of luck Senquez.

he better know that playbook...reallllllly well by now.

he in the last 2 months can compete once he in practice learns the playbook and compete to play in dime and quarter sets.
If lewis is signed he needs to play press coverage, at times he can be late getting back on flares or darts up field and then hasa tendency to play the wr rather then the ball which in pitt and new Orleans led to costyly pass intcf penelties

I know people rip Pop, but he's right here. With Lis franc surgery, he'll be able to start strengthening this foot in Nov and the timetable for this specific injury has him back the first week in December.

The optimist in me wants to think it wasn't a complete tear, and when they opened him up, they may have seen a partial. That would shave 4 weeks. Perhaps that is what happened, but I'm merely speculating as he's not saying much.

I would be absolutely shocked if he's ready this season. I had a foot surgery, for a completely different issue, was told 8 weeks. It was 6 months before I was cleared for football fan activities let alone football player ****.
I know this is completely unrelated to his problem and no I'm not a doctor so stay off my *** please, thanks.

Can't hold his spot forever,...... He needs to get back on the field and prove his spot. Just because he heals up doesn't mean he will just step right in and not mis a step. He first has to earn that step....
