My 53 man prediction...

http://www.Invalid Link - Check SN ...elers-53-man-roster-prediction-final-edition/

So far I think he's been on.

One thing I didn't think about is that Davis getting cut may improve Coates' chance. I can hope. This bandwagon is getting lonely.

Mccullers has a slightly better chance of making this team tgen I do. He has been relegated to scrubs all pre season and has done nothing for other two seasons. Dwarfs and Giants dont fare well on this team.

per the best news source on twitter, Cobi is gone...I know that is shocking....

The #Steelers have cut WR Cobi Hamilton per @JFowlerESPN

I think Coates and Ayers are in, Hunter and DHB out.

Ayers is more valuable as a punt returner, and overall receiver, than Heyward-Bey is as a special teamer and shaky receiver. He's a lot younger, too.

The Steelers starting defense will be entirely composed of first or second round picks with the exceptions of Vince Williams (6th) and Javon Hargrave (3rd).

I know you guys have been nut hugging Ayers forever. But lets get real. What the **** did he do to make the 53. Not even close. At best they tried to keep him under the wire for the practice squad. Jesus he hardly even appeared in the scrubs game.

He flashed talent last season when he finally hit the field. Unfortunately he was hurt and could not play until the final game then he was sidelined until late in the game. He was targeted twice and neither pass was remotely catchable. He was open several other times but the ball went elsewhere. His two punt returns showed his skills, especially the second one. He is a versatile wr, able to play any of the positions. He has better hands than coates, hunter or dhb. He just lacks their size and speed, but he still has the ability to get open deep.

It is unlikely he makes the team barring a last second miracle trade of coates or hunter....but from what was shown in the preseason games, DA is the best bet to keep AB out of that slot as the season starts if he could sneak onto the 53....

And what makes you an NFL personnel expert?
I have eyes and can see. He appeared in no games because he wasnt healthy. When he was he barely got in against the scrubs. Should tgey keep Golson too. Hunter had a long bomb td and a goal line stretch for another against the Falcons. Is he a kickoff guy? I dont know. He made a nice return on one punt. That gets you a roster spot?

You don't know, and I don't know. From this end, it's all guesswork.

BTW: The NFL Network reporter who's been covering the Steelers the most since camp opened says they're carrying only five CBs. And Steelers Depot is saying they'll carry just five defensive linemen.

If either happens, that could open up a spot for you-know-who.

As for Hunter, his TD came against "scrubs," as you call them.

I understand that you recognize he is a long shot but when you read your own description you can realize he is a no shot. Barely played. Got two ****** passes. Was open twice bit not seen. Nice athleticism on a return. If Im in the front office other than him realizing he has no hope on this organization what makes me think I cant PS him. IF I WANT HIM AT ALL.

Ive checked in almost every single day this summer. I can honestly say I have not heard Ayers name mentioned once in a practice report. If it wasn't for this and maybe the cameo he played last year I wouldnt even know who he was. That doesnt mean he isnt a good player or that he might not carve out a decent NFL career. He just did not make this club. Sorry. If they were seriously interested they would have taken a serious look last night.

then you didn't read them all....Steelers Depot and others made comments about Ayers in practice in one on one drills and a few times in the 7 on 7 shots....

Hunter faded in camp after dazzling in shorts....he coates and dhb dropped almost as many passes as they caught.....it is not like Ayers is competing against AB and Bryant.....

Ayers did well in the first 2-plus weeks in camp. In fact, I saw a rundown at about that time of passes caught. He had either the highest or second-highest percentage of all the wideouts.

From an athletic standpoint, he has a combination of hands and quickness that the others don't. He had his audition late last year and did fine. They know what he can do.

Note: Schuster's injury bug could prompt them to carry an extra receiver, especially for the first few weeks of the season. Those who cover the team say he isn't 100 percent.

He scored two tds in limited action in the preseason. That is not fading. Im skeptical of Coates but he is a big fast farely high drafted receiver. He will get a lot more leeway. I will be dead honest. I dont know there plans at returner. But I think if they were truely interested there they would have put him out first quarter. Replacing ABs numbers on punt returns isnt hard the last two years. Just dont drop the thing.

how hurt is Sutton??? Likely keep 5...

Yep, Sutton is the big question mark. Too valuable to cut, can't go on IR (designated to return) unless he initially starts on original 53 and he won't clear wavers. Now what ?

Might be an interesting dance where he makes the team, at the expense of someone like Hilton and then goes on IR after that person ( hopefully) clears wavers and is brought back. I'm pretty sure these kids can refuse offers from other teams if we make them a deal ahead of cutdown.

One of my favorite times of the year, lottsa stuff happenin'
