So it’s the bye week for Pittsburgh, and Chicago, and the Chargers, and New England, and Cleveland, and Minnesota. That’s 6 teams not playing football this week, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Those 6 teams get to rest and recharge at the halfway point of the season, 8 games played and 8 more to […]

Great article but there are two reasons why it would never happen as you stated both in your artickle.
1.) It would be great for football. When was the actual last time the league did something that was actually good for football?
2.). Bad for fantasy football. Can't do anything bad to FF as that will be what is totally driving this league in about 2-3years.

No question of fairness as to your proposal of BYE-weeks. Your's would be a very fair and TIMELY, something missing in the NFL. There has to be controversy so as to "keep the buzz" happening and part of that "BUZz' is being deceitful in bye week hand-outs. I would be curious as to the placement of the cheaters bye week as I bet it would be ALWAYS favorable since 2001 or hence the bye week was established. Our's is in a good spot this year but I myself prefer later than 1/2 way point.

I hate early bye weeks. They are best at midseason. This week, Tuitt, Gilbert and anyone else nursing and injury can rest.

God damn it, Gump! You're a god damn genius! This is the most outstanding answer I have ever heard. You must have a goddamn I.Q. of 160. You are goddamn gifted, Private Gump.

2 bye weeks would be ideal if they would eliminate one of the four pre-season games. They don't need to extend the season, it ain't broke

Just imagine if all of our players listened as well.

What if everyone played eight games, and then they all took a week off, then they all played their remaining 8 games?

Comeon man.........Surely you realize this whole football thing with TV 'N' stuff is really about money. Where you gonna make money if nobody's entertaining the peoples. The show must go on somewhere every week to get coverage and exposure and newsprint etc etc. thus revenue.

When the league went from "playing football" to "get the money" that was the FIRST day of the beginning of the end of the NFL. A tame beast that rolled in the dough for many a many a years then the greed took hold and WHoALa you have today's beast. Who says it's about the money,................Just ask some of the ticket holders who went to Jerry's house for a super bowl...................

I had the same idea years ago when the Steelers always seemed to get a really early bye week and someone said that it had to do with TV and having too many byes in a given week was bad for ratings.
