Bell missing his burst

Bell is 40 yards away from being the NFL leader in running back yardage. (He is in third place)

For the love of got damn it mane, some of you.
I'm talking just today, not all season, he didn't look the same today compared to the rest of the season

You are spot on. Been saying this all year. He’s not elite anymore just a good work horse type.

I see a burst and more power whenever Connor carries it, but he just doesn’t get enough chances to show us what the game would like with him carrying it 10 times or more.

Apparently Connor is not good in pass protection. So, when he gets better at that, you may have your wish.

Bell almost got Ben killed today twice. And he has a much better burst then Bell.

So, then think how BAD Connor must be at protection for him not to get more opportunities.

You meant to say Conner almost got Ben Killed today? Bell lost this burst. Look his yards per rush and yards per catch are pretty low.

That’s great and all... but he still hasn’t finished a season yet and he’s getting a ton of carries already.

Nothing wrong with giving him a few plays off.

NO Bell missed blocks and almost got Ben killed. They even mentioned it on TV.

Conner has a better burst then Bell.

As for his pass blocking, that gets better with more snaps. But when he’s carrying the ball he continues to go forward and get yards.

Pass protection is not that hard to pick up. Conner should get it by now. The OL or Ben can also point out his man if needed.

That's what I thought. Bell is anything but a franchise back. So glad he only got a 1 year deal.

Sure, they could point out his man and tip that it's a pass play. And, if Conner doesn't get it by now, what does that say about Conner?

Oh yee of little memory. Remember the slew of SN armchair coaches that predicted before the first game that Cool Shades would wear the spikes off our illustrious camp holdout ??

Now Conner's limping and 4 days from now we will put him right back out there and do it again.

It says the coaches hardly play him. That should change. How can he get it when he only carries it once a game, and doesn't pass protect in the game?

Bell is 13th in the league in Yards per Attempt (against RBs w over 100 ATTs), yet leads in Attempts by nearly 30 carries. He is 17th in Yards per Attempt against players w at least 50 carries.

To me, this is all you need to know. IF Conner cannot be trusted in Pass Protect, I would LOVE to see Watson out there more as he IS a downhill runner.

See, there's this thing called PRACTICE. I know, I know .. Allen Iverson was dismissive of practice. Different sport. Anyway, Conner could take the opportunity that PRACTICE provides him and show that he's a capable pass protector that's deserving of more playing time.

On the Connor play, I said "Wow look at Bell run", then I realized it was Connor. Connor should at least be getting 5 or 6 carries a game.

I think the O-line had the bye week blues. As did much of the team.

Good thing is there is only one of them.........

It would have been easy for them to have lost this game, that old saying that good teams find a way to win must have some truth to it.

Another thing, more of a theory: I think this team might have all of a sudden become great at making defensive adjustments(not likely) or we are trying to keep blitz packages off tape, because it seems that when we are in trouble and not able to win with base stuff, Butler pulls out all the stops and the D explodes in the second half.

If the latter is true then that's good thinking, but a dangerous game to play.... who knows what reality is.

And yet all Bee's contributed to the win.

Do they even go hard in practice this time of the year?

When was the last time Conner missed his man and Ben got hit?

How many times do you need?? Once is too many. Im all for giving Bell a break cause Connor looks good when he runs. Nice changeup. But he has to protect.

If they don't, and he's still not showing enough, that's telling too ... I mean a guy who can't pick up the mental aspect of pass protection, why would you ever trust him in a game situation?
Next excuse ....

no one seems on the same page, EVER! Ben looks like ****, way to many penalties, Tomlin looking like a statue.

'Does anyone on the team, truly know what they are supposed to be doing?

Am happy with the win. Was expected.

Given Bells history i would not run him more than 20x per game. Give Watson and Conner 5 carries each. Our line is playing bad which nullifies bells patience. Also Detroits front is pretty good. Either Bell needs to get the ball and just go or they need to give the other guys more chances.

Bell is leaving yards out on the field between his patient running style and not having as much burst as last season. Conner should get a few more carries just to change things up and to give Bell a break every so often.
