J-ville and Denver must be licking their chops.........

as in off-season trade ?

Can we trade Landry Jones for him right now?

Trade deadline passed. They can cut Eli and Jones in the process though.

:highly_amused:

Is this the final year of his contract? The press and NY media is making it sound that the Eli era in NY has ended. Wonder if he would be interested as a FA to Pitt if Ben retires?

He's got 'till the end of 2019 and no we do not want him. Jeez Louise, sometimes yinz amaze me with the people ya want to sign.
He's a shadow of the QB we have now and he's 36 years old. The Gints are rebuilding with their new kid and can use him alot more than we can afford him.

He's not going anywhere anyway.....

rebuilding with their new kid?? They are starting Geno ******* Smith!!! This move makes absolutely no sense. First, Eli's top three WR's are out for the year, their best weapon is a rookie TE that's inconsistent at best. They have no running game, their OL is a wreck, and because the offense is so bad, the D is on the field way too often and makes them look bad.

Starting Geno does absolutely nothing to solve any of the problems with the Giants, and they aren't even "seeing what they have in him" as he has already shown he has absolutely nothing. He was the worst QB in preseason, and most were expecting him to get cut. How he even made the final 53 is a mystery. It's a dumb dumb move.

Didn’t imply to sign him if we had Ben Chip. Just that could he be the transition veteran until the future QB is here. Eli has diminishing skills, but NYG are a bad team, and it’s not Eli’s fault.

I am befuddled if McAdoo thinks Geno Smith is better than Eli. Heck start Webb if they want to see what they have before thinking about drafting one of these QBs in April.

Hell no, I'd rather have Rivers than Eli. He had 2 great games and got rings. Kudos to him for that. He's not a leader, and IMHO never has been.

Well Rivers has that new contract Cope, doubt fiscally he would be sound. Plus he has a rep for being an arse to his guys. Don’t think he would mesh well with the vets on this team.

But gheez, he would be throwing for 6k with all of the weapons here.

Benching him is beyond stupid. They went from having some of the best WR's in the league to having to literally bring guys in off the street. His current No. 1 WR was the No. 4 to start the season and he has now missed 4, going on 5 games. So, his real current No.1 WR in 4 out of the 6 most recent games was their No. 5 WR to start the season, if he was even on the team. If he goes to 2 or 3 or even 4 WR's, chances are none of them were on the team to start the season. How can you blame that on the QB? I'm not sure if their No. 1 TE is injured also. His RB's are Perkins and Vereen.

And, he is completing 62.5% of his passes with 14 TD's and 7 Int's while playing with this scrub team. There is just no way you can blame them sucking so bad on Eli, not in the slightest.

Bring a QB in that has confidence when it comes to playing New England?

I think he would play better than what a few of yinz are thinking.

He doesn't scream washed up to me.

I do believe the giants have many more problems than the QB, but I am not an Eli fan. I think he is very over-rated. He does play pretty well in the post season though. Hard to say how he would do here with our cast of players, but I would not bother to try. He is 36 yrs old and will be costly. I do think that starting Geno Smith is ridiculous though. Geno has been around a bit already so you pretty much know what your getting. Give the rookie a shot if your going to bench your "franchise" QB.

The more I see about the benching the dumber it looks. I can understand if you have decided, no matter what, you are moving on from Eli and you want to see what you have in your draft pick, Webb but that's not what they're doing. They are going to start Geno Smith, who is no better than a back up in this league. They aren't giving Webb a shot since their season is over. They are basically saying "**** you" to the guy that brought them 2 SB trophies and is still the best QB on their roster, by far. This seriously reminds me of Cleveland (without the SB trophies, though). What a complete joke.

to be honest, I don't really care about it. I love the Steelers. I hate the Patriots. I dislike the Ravens and Bengal's. I pity the Browns. I could give 2 ***** about everyone else..

I understand Ike, I was just throwing out which older QB drafted in 04' I'd rather have over Eli ;)

Really both aren't even an option.

If Eli threw a ton of interceptions, not a lot of touchdowns, had a poor completion percentage and was THE reason the Giants were losing and they had a young quarterback in place, I could see making the move. They are benching him for Geno Smith for goodness sake. Absolutely ridiculous.

Gheez, the Giants fan base is exploding on social media and sports radio. They are losing their minds. Mr. Mara better make a statement and explain the plan.

Eli turned down HC offer to start the 1st half then give way in the second half.

good on Eli for not taking part in such a pathetic display of mismanagement, my goodness what a shitshow! I have no reason to believe that their coach, mcadoo, will be back next year, hell even ol' GM of theirs, Reese, could be gone as well.
