So Bell isn't getting his 14.5 million,

You've answered this MANY times in the past...........Why the **** should he??????

Have at it.....

Salute the nation

Why not?? For the same reasons every one wants Bell to accept less. To help the team? Ben has made 179 million in his career. So again like its asked of Bell how much does he need? He wants to win more super bowls right just like thats asked about Bell. So again why cant he take less so we can fix the defence???

The same reason that Bell doesn't. His time as an athlete is nearly over so he needs to make what he can while he can.

Exactly my point about Bell. So whats the bitching about Bell? Not saying you. In general.

you don't think a team like Cleveland, Washington or Arizona wouldn't pay him $25M+ a year? His base salary will be $12M and $5M in bonus incentives. That's not bad for a 14 year vet with two rings.

Its not about what others would pay. Because if Bell was on the open market who knows what he might get also. Its about helping the team from what i keep hearing. Bell is greedy cause he knows we need to fix the defence too. But that only applies to him.

Because we're fans. We're not really logical about this stuff. It would be great to have all the best players playing for the vet minimum just to play for the Steelers but it's not going to happen.

People are just hopeful that he would sign a $10M/yr deal. Not when his agent is telling him that someone will pay him nearly double that in free agency.

I'd love to keep him but we can't afford to.

Do you think $13.3M a year is good for a RB? That is not taking a discount, when you are comparing other RBs, when the next one is making $8M/yr. He turned it down last year and now it's been reported he is seeking $17M.

Its not up to what i think its whats he thinks. I never said he should take a discount..im not saying Ben should. Bell points to me have merit..all those backs arent doing what he is doing. Play all three downs play WR. Be the best in blitz pickup. And up there in rushing. If it was Gurley and Elliot and Johnson who signed a new contract at 8 million i would say yes he is being greedy. But those guys are the only players who come close to do what he is doing. The other guys arent playing like he does. Bell leads the league in touches by any non QB or center. And lastly the steelers knew what he was basing his demands on and continued to use him in the exact same way.

The Steelers should use him less to diminish his value? They use him the same way Gurley is used or Elliott or Johnson. I feel Bell's demands are a lot more than the Steelers are willing to part with for a RB, esp with their shelf life being right around the corner for a back like Bell. I have never disputed Bell getting all he can. Ben and AB did, be he's entitled too. I think he is playing right off the Steelers next season, but that's not for me to determine.

If you dont feel he is worth what he is asking for the reasons he is asking yes. Why not use Connor more. Why keep lining him up at WR? Take him out on more third downs.. then he cant demand as much. Because you cant because no one else can do it as well and that affects the team. So if he is that valuable he isnt wrong for asking for what he wants. And to me he is just as valuable as Brown..

Did Ben ever ask for almost double of the next player at his position?

Not the point. Bell has merit for asking what he doing. Does he not? And im using Ben as an example for those who call Bell greedy and not saving money for the team to fix the defence. The person with a real opportunity to do that is Ben or no?

Funny how Bell is the one "holding us hostage" when we elected to tag him and hold him hostage. It's our right as per the CBA, but I'm sure he'd much rather be out there picking his own team and locking up 35m or so in guarantees.

No one is holding anyone hostage. Bell is going to play this year and he is going to get paid more than any other running back in the league. Seems pretty good for both sides. Also, let's be real. He's not picking his own team next year, he is going to the team that pays him the most. The team will be picking him.

Or any other player not named Ben? Hell I can't think of anyone in the league. Steelers QB is 11th on the salary chart, how is that not a discount?

Dude is delusional if he thinks he is going to get $17 million - more than double the next highest paid RB. If we draft Giuce or Michel in Rd. 1, I pull the ******* tag on his shenanigans. Tired of his unrealistic demands. Then again, someone like Cleveland will overpay for him.

No matter who their No. 2 and 3 RB's are this year, I give Bell at most 70% of the touches to 30% for the other 2. He'll get pissed and throw a tantrum.

Yes it is now not when he signed. But now he has a. Extension coming up. Isnt he in a position to take less so we can field a defence??

He can ask for $20M, but the market says otherwise. The Steelers think otherwise. The Pats and Eagles proved you can get to the SB with RB-by-committee. We'll see how it plays out, but it's not looking good for him to be B&G next year.

You would think somebody would sit him down and explain to him that Championships define careers and the team is trying to free up money to get some key players to do that. As it stands I pull the tag and tell him he can gobble the highest paid player on a second tier team next year.

We dont know his market hasnt been on the open market. And the steelers have already acknowledged his market isnt the same as those other backs by franchising him at 12 now 14. A team wins super bowls. Just because they did it that way means its the only way.

it's not the only way, but we haven't won anything with him. They acknowledged that he is worth $5.3M/yr more than any other back and he still turned it down. To me, that's more than fair,

If he takes the exact same amount as he is being paid now, which is #11 in the league, then that would be a "discount"... Bell is at double the next highest paid RB. How about he settle for 11th in the league or for that matter 3rd in the league as that woulkd be near Ben's number.

while I agree he should make as much as he can during his career, at this point, he's being selfish. He has every right to put himself above everyone else. Hell, look at Shazier - and Bell takes hits from all angles.

And, yes, he's being selfish.

In negotiating, he's not willing to meet halfway or make any concessions. The Steelers increased their offer last season. It wasn't good enough. Now, he's getting $14.5 for ONE season. 16 games + playoffs. $906,250 per game.

if he were to sign for $14mil, he would still be setting the bar high for all RBs coming up after him (which is what he said he wants to do).

So, yes, ask for all you can, Le'Veon. But, be realistic in knowing that the number you place your value on is likely not achievable and may lead you to finding your way onto some shithole team where your career will end quicker and without any of the statistical glory you so desire.

Love Bell's talent, but tired of the BS. $17M? That's a lot of money for a RB. Is he worth it? Maybe, but when you are asking for double of the highest paid back, I would have to walk away. That is not being a team player. It's being selfish. He should look out for himself, but be realistic. I hope he does it somewhere else next year and stop holding the Steelers hostage. Either you want to be here and build a winner or you don't really care about the team and are a Me First player.

Me'Von is become a major distraction. Frankly I don't think he's worth 14.5 million a year. What does the 2nd and 3rd highest paid running backs make?

Bottom line is, Bell will come in late again, play the year and then we will get a 3rd Rd comp pick for him when he signs elsewhere.

I can’t see us breaking the bank on him, and he has made it clear he wants more money than we are willing to give him.

Shame it will go down this way, but dems the breaks.

Jarvis Landry! He was a franchise tagged, signed the tag, then was and traded.

I still don't understand why Bell can't sign the tag now. He's not making a dime more with the Steelers in 2018, but once he signs the tag, the Steelers can seek a trade where he might find a team willing to pay him more.

I suppose the question isn't what running backs are worth, the question should be: Is Bell the best skill position player in the league?

That answer is no.

It would be yes if he could convert a 4th and 1 vs the JAX defense.

Bell wants 17M according to CBS Sports and a bunch of other media. He wants to be paid like Antonio Brown. If we draft a RB in the first that just compounds the problem. That first round pick needs to go D. Talented yes but not to the point of crippling the team.

Le'Veon Bell go to Hell !
