Le'V Smell says the report on him returning by Labor Day is false.

He will show up and sign the day before the opener. Just like last year.

Probably would. But if i didnt like someone im not going to lie about it

But you are just a fan and not a player not trying to cause any undue drama for the media.

Whomever the 53rd man on the roster is, I hope the camp turk told you might be cut the day before the season starts. As such he will have a harder time finding a new team, as those released on the final cut day will be in line first

Bell should sign before the labor day. Enough already.

Why?

The last preseason game is tomorrow. Final roster must be cut on Saturday. I doubt they practice on Friday, but, even if they did, they wouldn't practice Bell because they would be wanting to get a last look at some bubble people.

Monday is Labor Day and I doubt they practice on Sunday before that.

Doesn't seem to make any difference at all whether he signs right this minute or on Tuesday.

They are practicing Monday

It's like you guys are just going out of your way to make him seem even worse. Bell signed the tender on Sept 4th 2017, our first game was Sept 10th 2017. He practiced a full week. And he also signed a day later than he anticipated at the request of the Steelers so they could make some roster moves before his roster spot was taken up.

Call him whatever you want, don't like how he's handling HIS business, fine, but don't make **** up...

That's right Le'Veon, you better adamantly deny a report that says you plan to report in the minimal time to at least be somewhat ready top play week 1. You stick to your guns, show up whenever the hell you feel like, then play like **** for 3 or 4 weeks.

Thank you for correcting all of us who thought for a moment that you give a **** about winning. Fingers crossed that the steelers miss the playoffs, then you can start your free agent tour even quicker.

As long as he's staying in shape and gets his feet under him by the time we play the Browns, I don't give two ***** about Bell or what he's tweeting about.

I want the Steelers to win, preferably each and every game. As long as he's on the roster and the Rooney's are paying his checks, I hope Bell runs for 2,000 yards and gets carried off the field shaking the Lombardi. If his teammates welcome him back, so should we, at least for the next five months or so. Other then that Bell's a typical self-centered, egocentrical millenial prick, more concerned about Instagram and Snapchat than anything else. So be it. He's also the best running back in the league, I hope he proves that on the turf, each and every game.

If the injury factor is so huge ? Why doesn't he come in early and practice without pads ? He would be able to participate in meetings and walk throughs. That way he may be able to get up to speed in three games instead of four.

It's no more a factor than any other man on the team. As soon as he wraps his digits signs his tag he's guaranteed that 14.5 million. The injury stuff is rubbish. He can get hurt just the same in any game.

James Harrison Thinks Le’Veon Bell Should Sit Out Most Of Season

“Everyone’s saying, you know, when he comes back in week one, like everybody’s assuming that he’s going to come back week one. I’m with Mark [Schlereth], he has a whole mess of money to lose versus what he’s going to lose per week,” Harrison said. “If I’m in Le’Veon’s situation, I come back with enough time to get my credited season and then I move on. Unless he has a huge insurance policy, like he [Schlereth] said, that guarantees him if he blows out, tears up a knee and he can’t come back – 40, $50 million – it’s no way I go into that knowing what I would lose.”

It's just business these days. We're the ones emotionally invested in the team...Not as much as I used to be as I've grown old(er).

If he does sign, I wouldn't be surprised if he was not active for Game 1. New OC at the helm and he could be a big liability by not knowing the new playbook and not taken any hits in 8+ months. I mean shots,,,I mean hasn't been tackled in 8+ months,,on the football field

He comes across all butthurt now with his Steelers "takes".

If he holds out until week 10 he might as well as have signed for the deal we offered. He would have to now sign for $17 mill plus to recoup that and break even with the money he is given up for those 10 weeks.

You know what would have been a good insurance policy? Signing the long term deal he was offered.

You can't have it both ways.

Everybody knows that you can make more money if you sign a new contract every single year, but in doing that you are taking a risk that you won't be injured and that your level of play will dictate another big deal the next year.

Those are big risks for a RB. That's why most players give up a bit of money in favor of the security of a long term deal when it is offered. Don't ***** about risks when you are the one who chose that path.

Which is why I am pretty much on the side of the team in most things. The Steelers will be around long after Bell is gone. All I care about is them winning championships. Unfortunately a great many players care about $$$$$ over that. Obviously those cheating ******** in Boston care about winning at all costs.

Where did you find this nugget of info? I did not see that in my reading.

If they pull the tag, Bell becomes a street FA and the Steelers receive zero compensation in a compensatory draft pick because they will have forfeited any effort to retain him. They will have behaved like a spiteful 5 year old and Bell would immediately get his payday rather than having to work for it this season. Pulling the tag would be Bell's dream scenario, aside from the Steelers giving him the 17mil per season long term deal or whatever it was he wanted. Instead, we exclusively get another year of his services. He is under no obligations to be there before the season opener and risks a career ending injury otherwise by showing up early. It's business, not spite, that's motivating him.

Thanks for providing the details Dan.

MT, in simple terms (as explained by Gil Brandt and Kirwan), to rescind the tag on a player will negate any FA offer from the team. The player reverts back to his status at the end of the previous league year as a URFA and is able to sign with any team he chooses. If no new long term contract is made by the mid July timeframe, the team then loses that player in the FA compensation formula. Had they rescinded the tag before the date the player is still included in the formula. This is what happened to Carolina and Norman as explained above. Norman’s agent gave a number that CAR wouldn’t even come close to, and pulled their tag well before the deadline.

The tag is a poison pill for both sides. It forces the team and player to come to a fruitful solution...a long term deal. As the tag gives no security to the player and costs the franchise a substantial cap hit, which impacts filling their roster.

Assuming there is some injury before Game 1. if Bell signed the tag and got injured in practice, or whatever, we are screwed and have to pay him. Since he has not signed and gets injured (either working out or otherwise) such that he can't play, aren't the Steelers better off? They can then pull the tag, he gets no big payday and we are not stuck with $14m cap hit?

Ark,

IF...And I mean that specifically...if LeVeon injures himself before signing the tag, the Steelers would definitely pull the tag. Being injured would impact his production and drive down his compensation value. Having said that, what’s to keep Bell from not disclosing OR notifying a pre-existing injury before signing? You better believe his physical is going to be tremendously in depth and thorough to verify any injury or lack of one.

After the tag is signed and he passes his physical......if the unfortunately situation that Bell breaks a leg in his first practice, the Steelers are then on the hook for the 14 mil.

It's a shame. I thank him for the past, but unless you're going to be a positive part of the Steelers future...**** off.

Always thought James had the work ethic.
But man has his mind went mentally fragile. Definitely an ego killer

Maybe he should have signed the 75million dollar deal and stopped being a delusional dick.

Id guess it was the guaranteed money. I expect he wanted $40-45m guaranteed. I believe that is what Gurley got.

Yeah, no doubt, Ark. He's going to be another year older next season...the money will start to dwindle while we should be winning a SB NOW.
