Talk about LeVeon Bell in one place

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. However, let's say they get a sign and trade agreement in place and they then trade Bell for a 3rd round pick in next year's draft. Don't they then get the third round pick AND an immediate influx of around $14.5 M (or whatever is left of the Franchise cap hit when the trade is made)? Doesn't help this year, but a pick plus the extra cap space sure could go a long way towards acquiring talent.

Edit: To clarify, I'm assuming that they wouldn't spend the extra cap space this year and that it would then carry over to next year's cap.

I wish they would only have to pay him for 15 games. He'd better be in football shape. Go Conner and Samules.

1) October 30 is the trade deadline
2) not sure of that question
3) the Steelers will be open to trade to most teams except the Pats, Ravens, and Cincy.

So you saying if the Cincy offered a first round pick you would not take it. I would.

Oakland received two 1st rounders for Mack. I would think Bell is worth at least that much.

Pretty sure that is that regurgitation of a story that turned out to be false by Ian FuckedUPaReport

Mack is under contract for another year. That makes a huge difference and was able to be resigned to an extension Bell can’t be.

Any team that wants to trade for Bell will be looking long-term (3-4 years). No one is going to willingly cough up that much cash to a back (and a draft pick or two) to us for a one-year rental.
So, you have to look at the teams with a large amount of cap space next year as well as their current roster and/or need for a #1 RB this year and next year.

First - the top 10 teams with cap space who could/would make that trade with an eye on their cap space in 2019:
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/2019/
  • Indianapolis
  • NY Jets
  • Buffalo
  • Houston
  • Seattle
  • Cleveland
  • Cincinnati
  • Dallas
  • Oakland
  • San Francisco

Of those, you can remove Cleveland, Cincinnati and Dallas for obvious reasons (same division / no need for a RB)

Colts, Jets, Buffalo, Houston and Seattle would be the teams I'd be most interested in calling. However, Seattle just drafted a back.

Colts - Bell, Luck and Hilton would be a mini version of the Big 3 of Colts lore gone by in James - Manning - Harrison. Colts have a lot of holes, though, so a RB may not be their best investment. Still, they could offer a very high pick (I'd take their #1 pick in 2019).

Jets - Bell is a little older than Darnold, so they'd be looking for another RB once Darnold gets acclimated to the NFL (as Bell would be nearing the end of his career). Likely not an option.

Buffalo - same as above, though the Bills have a #1 RB in McCoy. He's nearing the end of his career, and may wind up missing some games this season for legal reasons. Allen - Bell - Benjamin could be a nice trio in Buffalo. Like with Indy, I'd take their #1 in 2019.

Houston - Bell would put them over the top from possible contenders to solid contenders. Bell - Watson - Hopkins would make a deadly trio. Thrown in Fuller and the Texans would have a solid offense. I'd take their #1 in 2019 and a 3 or 4 in 2019 as well. I'd ask more since Bell would give them more offensively than what they have now and make them immediate contenders.

Seattle - Bell - Wilson - Baldwin would be quite an offense in Seattle. Though their OL sucks *** in run blocking. As such, I'd ask for the RB they just drafted (Penny) and their 2 and 3 round picks in 2019. It makes it easier for me to trade Bell to Seattle since he'd be going to another conference ...and that Washington has relaxed the weed law which means Bell would likely smoke himself out of the league anyway.

Yep they could do that. But not sure they would trade him for that if at all.

IF he reports today that would be the ultimate dick move. Anybody that supports that dick move loses all credibility.

if that happens, could he be suspended for "conduct detrimental to the team"?

Sources guess?

Can't even be qualified by anonymous?

These journalists, needing to be first, regardless of facts.

BUT also remember that the STEELERS history is HONORING these type of contracts. They let the players play them out. So even a less leg for BELL to stand on. I hear what you are saying but wanted yaz to not forget thaqt about the STEELERS business side.

Salute the nation

Yes the steelers do have that history. But as a RB if bell blew out a knee(a possibly higher then most)would they continue to lay out the whole deal. No i doubt it. So he may not get it all where as other offers he may get more just signing on the dotted line and dont have to worry

Tic Toc, if MeVeon shows today before they leave for Cleveland, I would lock the doors to the complex

I seriously doubt the veracity of the article, but who knows with this guy. Doesn't really matter when he reports though, cuz the Steelers can file for a roster exemption for 2 weeks and do not have to pay him in that time (They can choose to do so, but they don't have to as I understand it).

How is San Fran not your number one trade contender? If the worry is that they can't sign him long term until next season, who would be more willing to take on that risk than the 9ers who dealt for Garappalo last season, and just lost their starting RB for the entire season. I'm sure they would much rather have Bell than Breida and Morris.

This story is 2 days old and the word “guess” is in it. That said-if he reports today I read somewhere that the Steelers could still get a 2 week roster exemption and not give him a check until game 3. Not sure how valid that is. If he shows today-then we know it’s just a bunch of noise from is agent. Does he think that if he shows week 10 he can make up the 8.5 mil he would lose over the duration of his next deal? Because that’s not happening. I say the preservation tactic was his last card. If he doesn’t show-someone needs to tell him to fire his agent and get new representation. That might be the only way his teammates will truly forgive him.

I'm not rich but I have everything that I need. He who needs the least is the richest.

Sure, I'd buy myself a cherry '66 SS Impala but my life can't get much better than it is...more money or not.

As for Bell...weird. My guess is that this is just a case of constant "one-upmanship" going on in pro sports. It's not about rings from Championships anymore, it's about dick measuring amongst one's peers.

I would rather be minus a couple million and fight for a SB title every year.

Honestly I don't care anymore, if I'm the Steelers players and coaches, I'm moving forward as if he isn't on the team and never will be again. He would be an afterthought in my mind.

If he does report today, they absolutely should exercise the option to not activate him for 2 weeks and therefore, not pay him for those 2 weeks.

because the 49ers just signed McKinnon to a large contract. Yes, I know it's McKinnon, but I doubt they'd want that much money invested in their backfield.
though if they got wind of us attempting to trade Bell, hell yes, I take their #1 in 2019.

He won’t be back anytime too soon. He’s playing this out like I said he would in my post of two weeks ago. It’s always been about him and that is one of the main reason this team fails to get to the super bowl. You don’t win when it’s about stats and money first, putting the team secondary.
