Could Steelers go Free Agent WR in 2019?

I'm falling apart but you don't know what "et al" means?

You're growing desperate.

Why didn't you just type "and others"?

You still didn't answer the question, are you sad now that you alternate account has been ****-canned?

Troy Edwards 61 catches, 714 yds, 5 tds. Funny thing is that Edwards first year was his best year.

Washington has been a colossal disappointment. 32 other rookie's have more catches. Many of those who play WR were drafted after him.

Washington has but 8 catches for 77 yards ( 9.6 yards per catch ) and has dropped a few of them. 9.6 yards a catch is 41st among rookie pass catchers and that included TE's and RB's.

I'm not really sure what Washington strength is. He's not fast, nor is he tall or a quick route runner. Yeah he beat a lot of big 12 DB's with some perfect deep ball throws...but he's not running by NFL DB's.

As for getting a good #3 receiver in free agency, we have plenty of cap space. We can also spend a draft pick if needed.

A reason AB is doubled so often is the opposing defense can cover Washington one on one and not worry about him at all. Give me a speedy guy, and that could change for the better for Brown.

Many rookie Steeler Wide Receivers picked between rounds 1 and 4 produced in their rookie years.

Randel El 489 yards as a receiver
Holmes 824 yards as a receiver
Wallace 756 yards as a receiver
Bryant 549 yards as a receiver ( 8 TD's )
Ju-ju 917 yards as a receiver ( 7 TD's )

------------------------------------------------

James Washington, has 25 targets has but 77 yards after ten games

Some rookie WR's had shaky rookie years. Coates and Sweed, funny I liked neither guy. They busted.

I'm not saying Washington will be a bust ( Did not want him in round 2, ILB Baker was my call ), that will take 1-2 more years to determine. I am saying he's a tremendous disappointment as a rookie. Other Steelers rookies blew past him, and so did many of the 2018 rookie peers at WR.

we need a #1 CB whether we will save from bell and Ryan spend on a sign and trade for Ramsey or get someone reliable now that I look at the last time Kareem Jackson became I FA he would of been the perfect fit but average-above average CB cost inflated, he should be a target. We did screw up not getting tyone mathieu he would be a big upgrade over davis who is a liability in coverage.

After first 2 preseason games Washington had 7 catches for 158 yds and next 13 games 8 catches for 77 yards.
He looked off to a fast start and has fallen flat on his face.

Why must you always put a back door into everything you write? You trash a guy but you always include one sentence that says he might be good so you can't be wrong.

If you want credit for being right then you have to have an actual opinion. If you think Washington sucks then say so.

Washington has been OK. The steelers have a bunch of weapons. AB and JuJu are the first options. McDonald has become the #3 option. Then you have Washington, Switzer, and Jesse James dividing up those 4th option looks.

It's not as if Washington is on the field every play. The steelers use a 2 TE set quite a bit so there is no 3rd WR on the field. When they do go 3 wide, sometimes it's Switzer and sometimes Washington depending on the situation. Switzer runs quick routes and Washington runs deep routes.

You also have to consider that many of Washington's target are lower % throws. He's not catching quick screens. They don't have him running quick slants or drags. It's mostly downfield stuff and Ben has been off target on his deep balls quite a bit this year. Ben has missed AB a bunch this year too.

I think Washington is doing OK for a rookie.

Washington is far from doing OK. He has the lowest catch percentage in the entire league at 32% and he has trouble running a limited route tree. he rounds off his routes is lazy running them and has poor hands

so you mean he's playing like a rookie? As i mentioned, Washington is running lots of low % routes. I think that's partly because that's what they need him to do and also because those vertical routes are what he did in college.

What does Hines Ward’s rookie season stats mean in your summation? Plaxico? Noticed how you left those out of your listed examples. No objectivity.

He is failing at even running the short out routes as evidenced by the article I cited. By any standard he is having a poor year even doing the rudimentary thing. Hoipe he breaks out but his route running is poor and he lacks the true deep speed to be an over the top guy.
