Just came to me.
That is the big problem. IMO the other is balance on the offense. I think we have the OLine and RB to successfully run conventional NFL running plays. Pull the guard, plow the field, etc. This occasional shotgun zone block run **** just doesn't scare defenses. I think Ben would thrive in a play action offense where the run is actually a threat, but for whatever reason we keep putting it all on him every ******* play as if our we have no other choice. We make ourselves one dimensional, and of course there will be turnovers with that many throws - and teams figure it out by halftime. It's frustrating to watch Conner line up beside Ben 3-5 yards back almost every ******* play, as if our myriad of plays from that set confuses the defense while we waste a good run blocking line.
If Conner is out for the rest of the season, the offense is on Ben. We put all of our eggs in one basket with Conner.
And to be honest, I hope he's ok, but we've only been giving him the ball 12 times a game the last 3 or 4 games anyways. If we are going to no run the ball much, Samuels is a better pass catcher. I don't think our Oline is a very good run blocking Oline anyways
I think we ran the wheels off of him. There should have been more rotation early on to get the kid some breaks and rest. Tomlin seems to run the wheels off of every RB he has had.
Yep, he ran the hell out of him while there was still a chance of Bell coming back, almost to show him we didn't need him.
So we will have to threaten opposing defenses with some other back for 12 plays a game? The offense has been on Ben.
