Losin' nuttin' ova hea ?

I think Ben was just singing Moncrief's praises, saying he's picking even the no-huddle stuff up quick and is grinding with Coach Drake every morning.

If his work ethic matches his talent, they might have a serious player on their hands.

ADD in the rookie Johnson who also is catching everything his way........................... NICE problems to have.

Salute the nation

Coach Tomlin did not employ this tactic last year. What makes you think he'll start it now - ESPECIALLY with the versatility of JaySam???

Last year it was all Connor until he couldn’t go due injury then it was JaySam..

My hope is it’s running back by committee using the power of Connor and Snell and as you said the versatility of JaySam. I’d love to see that but don’t trust Tomlin to be that smart.

Well Ike, there are multiple reasons for no trophy’s and most point to Tomlin. Play cards wouldn’t hurt since maybe rather than coach from his gut he might start making some intelligent decisions with plays readily available, Sure would have come in handy against the Patriots two seasons ago when maybe with some plays available to him he could have prepared Ben when they were reviewing the non Jesse James catch. No instead they went back on the field and looked like the keystone cops, totally out of sync.
And I wouldn’t compare him to Belicheck who can do whatever he wants. Tomlin is clueless!

Coach from the gut Hurt? C’mon, you are not serious. The headsets all the coaches and coordinators wear keeps everyone in touch what’s going on upstairs/down on the sidelines. Tomlin lets his coords do their job, and call the plays as predicated by the game plan created earlier in the week. If there is any “gut” calls it’s when the HC overrides a play call on occasion offense/defense or ST.

Funny, name one coach currently who uses play call cards and is NOT calling the plays?

Chin never used a placard, his decisions must have been non-intelligent as well. Especially when NOD threw those two picks in 95. Or the incomplete pass on goal in 94. Lets see second guessing Bettis for Zeroue also. Sorry, coaches coach and players play. The end result is from the players performing.

As for the JJ catch and the BS that occurred during the review...they had two plays called after the catch was overturned. It was checked at the line as to which play to use based upon formation. Execution of the plays dictates success.

Vince Lombardi, not only a great coach, but even better leader of men, once told a opponent coach “I’ll give you our playbook and we will still beat you because of our execution of those plays”.

Is Samuels outside going to scare anyone or is it going to be like QB lining up out there when running out of the Wildcat? I suppose I would like to see the production made up in the running game. A more balanced attack last season and I think we make the playoffs.

Keep in mind. JaySam was a skat back, and wasn't a full time running back until last year. He had more receptions than rushes in college 201 to 182. If they use him as a 3rd down back the way Darren Sproles gets used, the entire country is going to know his name next year.

Cool Shades will slip back into his retarded "I will run the wheels off him" mentality and even brag about it. Just not too bright.

the thing is, if you dont have adequate backups or are paying the guy a huge contract, then i actually agree with running the wheels off
what good is it if we would have paid bell all the money we did and only used him 2/3 as much as we did?

now, if all 3 of our backs are used properly and can produce, it would benefit the team in the long run. none of the 3 backs would be able to demand a big contract because their numbers wouldnt justify it.

I hear what you're saying and respect your opinions. I always enjoy your posts and giving Coach **** but I think we're going to disagree here Ike. I have seen old videos of Cowher with play cards stuffed in his hands but not saying thats going to guarantee better results, but how can it hurt with Tomlin?

JaySam was full-time when Connor went down - true. But, he was very much in the game plan each week once he showed what he could do prior to that...

Let’s all hope it’s the three running backs employed in this offense. I don’t want to see JaySam and Snell wasting away on the bench like he did with Blount when he was here.

Hey no problem Hurt. Agree to disagree is part of opinions. TBH I always thought paid attention to Cowher’s facial/body expressions, more than anything else. Those were just as entertaining as the game itself. When his wife told him his daughters could read his lips because the networks would zoom in on his screaming/spitting chin jutting reactions, he started to put the kibosh on showing his emotive stances. That was really disappointing....
