The Day of Reckoning.... NFL cuts tracker

Can we cut Grimble and Chick and save some $$$? that would be 6 mil.

Steelers can cut a lot of people and save money. The question is, "Whom do they cut to be the best team?"

The Steelers are not the Pirates.

Can anyone confirm the waiver priority order is the same as the draft order (pre-trades)? I think that's how it works... which would mean we're slotted in at #20 if Colbert decides to go after somebody.

Chick and Grimble are overpaid and we are trying to extend Haden. I'll take some cheaper alternatives, that are just as good. Allows us to extend Haden easier and also bring in a player or two that other teams cut.

I think Grimble is a #3 at best. We can find an actual #2 TE via trade or waiver cuts.

Agreed, and same goes for adding a decent back-up safety. There's gotta be some players out there over the next 24 hours who could shore up our depth at both positions. And perhaps at RB if they think Snell's not ready. It was telling to me how much PT Snell got last night. Not sure anyone on that coaching staff came away impressed, albeit he was running behind some terrible OL play.

Reported Steelers Cuts

TE Trevor Wood (Aaron Wilson)
S Marcelis Branch (Ian Rapoport)
Henry Mondeaux (Jacob Klinger)(rumored plan is to add him to the PS.

I'm confused as to why they let James walk when they knew they had virtually nothing behind he and Vance.

Why let him go? It's not like he was going to command SO MUCH MONEY that they couldn't have signed him. James wasn't a star, but he was absolutely solid and dependable.

Yeah, that was a head-scratcher. Evidently James felt he was ready for prime time and a starting gig with the Lions. Then the Lions go out and grab TJ Hockenson in the first round. Ouch.

No doubt James himself wishes he was still here.

I saw a clip of James. He was happy to be away from the drama of Pittsburgh and glad he was with the Lions. He was tired of all the locker room and social media issues.

Yeah, and all that went out the door with AB & Bell bailing, thank God. I see none of that with this year's team, do you?

I didn't see it until the end of last season either. If I had told you that AB was a headcase and jealous of other WRs at the start of last year would you believe me?

I have no idea what's in the locker room right now. I know that players are still talking about AB and that some of the players still in the locker room probably sided with AB against Ben. So I have no idea. I just know what James said in an interview.

I hear you, and I actually have no idea if James regrets his decision to leave. I just presumed as much as it seemed to me he wanted a starting gig somewhere else. Anyway, for the love of God I hope all the turmoil & drama is gone from the locker room. From everything I've seen & read thus far it seems this team has a much different vibe than last year. So far so good. We'll see how it plays out.

Wasn't Corn Elder the guy who fought Russell Crowe in Cinderella Man?

Some guys just want a fresh start. I get that. My guess is the Lions aren't going to be a great team. He may regret leaving by the end of the year if the Steelers are doing well and the Lions well... are the Lions. Who knows... I just heard the interview and hope he is happy with the Lions. He seemed like a nice guy.

Hopefully there'll be more to come, at least this guy has some decent experience. Sadly, he's a one dimensional TE and 32 years old.

Falcons release Logan Paulsen

The Atlanta Falcons had veteran tight end Logan Paulsen in the lineup for 15 games last year, 10 of which he started. Even though he isn't a prolific receiver (just nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown in 2018), Paulsen does a lot of the dirty stuff in the run game that every team needs. It was a bit surprising when Atlanta let Paulsen hit the waiver wire on Friday.

Yep, I saw the same thing. In fact he was one of the more outspoken guys about the circus that was surrounding the Steelers.

2 more million reasons to let him go, they probably offered him 4M but he got 6 in the market
