The Day of Reckoning.... NFL cuts tracker

- Eagles release S Deondre Hall

Freak athlete, 6-2 with plenty of baggage including a drug suspension. Played some corner and safety and may have the longest arms in the league. He's got that going for him.

One other advantage that Hall has over all of his challengers, are his freakishly long arms — which measured a ridiculous 34 3/8 inches in length at Northern Iowa’s pro day. To put that number into perspective, Hall’s arms are 1 3/8 inches longer than 2019 second overall pick Nick Bosa — and most defensive backs around the league.

- Patriots release WR Damoun Patterson

Remember this guy? Was the camp darling last year. Don't see room for him on our roster, looks like things didn't work out for him with NE.

- Ravens release DT Willie Henry

He was a part of their D-line rotation, started a few games in '17 when he had 3.5 sacks. Odd that they'd give up on a 25 year old this quickly.

- Bucs release WR Anthony Johnson

Not a need for us, but Johnson was a dark horse of mine in the draft, showed a lot of talent, got hurt before the combine, went undrafted. Maybe a practice squad guy?

In two seasons at UB, Johnson became one of the school's most prolific receivers, finishing with 2,367 yards and 25 touchdowns on 133 catches. He was projected as a first-round draft choice at one point, but instead went undrafted after injuries hampered his participation in the pre-draft evaluations by NFL teams.

There is zero percent chance that the P* wont be trying to sign one of our wr cuts... yet another reason to deal them for anything we can get

TE Marcus Lucas - Cowboys - has bounced around the league but can at least catch the ball.
TE Will Tye - Eagles - dude had 90 catches his first two seasons but I don't know what happened to him after that
TE Donnie Ernsberger - Jags - the Steelers spent some time with him at his pro day so there may be interest there. Blocker / HB
TE Cole Hunt - Panthers - primarily a blocker, 6'7" 255lbs, not much of a pass catcher but very bright so who knows
TE A.J. Derby - Saints - big athletic guy who started off well with the Broncos and has bounced around since then
TE Nate Wozniak - Vikings - 6'10" !!! The Vikings were trying him as a tackle. He is 280 lbs and obviously a reasonable blocker. Has to be interesting as a red zone target..?

And the Seahawks cut Paxton Lynch. Wow. I honestly thought he was going to be a good one when he came out.

Raiders cut TE Luke Wilson.. first name to pop.

He's a decent pass-catcher but has skinny-*** legs, like a 14 year old kid's. Don't see how he holds up as a blocker. But I've seen his name bandied around on Steelers sites....
Willson is a very good athlete and probably a better blocker on the move than beside an OT. High character. He could probably slide in at number two in a few weeks.

I'm confused as to why they let James walk when they knew they had virtually nothing behind he and Vance.

Why let him go? It's not like he was going to command SO MUCH MONEY that they couldn't have signed him. James wasn't a star, but he was absolutely solid and dependable.
Jesse made around 2.5 million over four years on his rookie deal. The Lions offered him 23 million on a four year deal... with 8 plus guaranteed. The Steelers were NEVER going to match that.

My guess... is that in a year... after he is cut by the Lions... he heads back to the Steelers for a fair deal. Kinda like what Larry Foote did after coming back from... the Lions.

Nice work, Slaine! Good to see the TE's stacked up like that. Add in Luke Willson & Logan Paulson, and the list of available TE's rounds into form. I presume we'll see some bigger names today as the cuts continue to roll in.

/edit - add former 3rd round pick TE Clive Walford to the list, though he may be recovering from injury.

Walford was signed by the Dolphins on March 14, 2019. He’s played in 45 career games with 11 starts over four NFL seasons – three with Oakland (2015-17) and one with the N.Y. Jets (2018). Walford has 70 career receptions for 768 yards (11.0 avg.) and six touchdowns. He originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick (68th overall) by Oakland in the 2015 NFL draft. A native of Belle Glade, Florida, Walford played at the University of Miami and attended Glades Central High School.

I hear ya pastor, it was just a (bad) dad joke taking a pot shot at his skinny legs, as that came up in a hard knocks episode last week.

Willson seemed to be much more active and dynamic in Seattle, then petered-off in Detroit, now cut by the Raiders (who have little TE depth). Makes you wonder...

Looking at the early cuts for others I’d be interested in Su’a Cravens and Luke Wilson to perhaps replace Marcus Allen and Xavier Grimble.

Maybe something behind the scene happened. He was vocal about the Aclown debical after he was gone, sort of like.... I told yaz so.

Salute the nation

I totally forgot or missed the fact Foote went to Detroit that year. Might be because I was in the hospital for 2 mo that yr. But still

Wow, the end of an era for Slater, arguably the best ST gunner of the past decade. The dude was consistantly on point, made the pro bowl seven times. Father time must have caught up with him. He was an integral part of the third phase for NE and contributed mightily to their success.

I know he had a visit with us last year before resigning with NE. I just don't see how you can roster a guy like that, when all he does is ST. I think he's caught one pass in his entire NFL career. Anyway, if this is the end for him, kudos to Slater for a great NFL career, doing only one, singular thing, but doing that better than anyone.

Eagles waived RB Josh Adams

The writing had been on the wall for Adams following the offseason acquisitions of both Jordan Howard and second-round rookie Miles Sanders. Adams managed to lead the Eagles on the ground last season, piling up team-highs in carries (120) and rushing yards (511) from the backfield, but was ultimately held back by a shoulder injury this offseason

What's the word I'm looking for....oh yeah, pedigree.

49ers waived OG Josh Garnett.

The injury-prone first-rounder mustered only five appearances the past two seasons due to a prolonged knee injury and other ailments. He finishes his three-year tenure with the Niners with only 12 games under his belt as the team's No. 28 overall pick in the 2016 draft. He'll land with another suitor if only for his previous first-round pedigree.

I would be ALL OVER Damien Harris. Like Benny Snell Jr., but c'mon man, Damien Harris was a STUD at Bama. Our backfield would be deadly!!!

You know I'm starting to have my doubts about that tweet, haven't seen this announced anywhere else yet. I was just gonna delete that post...so let's consider those three cuts unsubstantiated for now. As we know, twitter goes nuts on days like this, hard to sort through it all...

Another name to add to the TE list...
