Holton signed to 53, Tuzar Skipper released??

Hello I'm new to this site.

Rough day for Steelers fans.

First the AB debacle and now Tuzar inexplicably getting waived? Especially after the guy beat all the odds to make the team. What a disappointment.

Welcome to the board! I think Tuzar will clear waivers. He never would have survived cut down, but now that teams have established their rosters he'll be safe.

Good point 43, hope the hell he clears. And about TE being thin, just pick up somebody that HAS to be better than Zach ******* Gentry. Hell, call Heath back up.

**** that...i hate this move.

Me too, Skipper better pass waivers!!!

"Holton spent three years with the Raiders, appearing in 32 regular-season games. He caught nine passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns in 2017.
In 2018, the Raiders moved him to cornerback before changing him back to a receiver."

Good point and I really hope this is how it goes down.

Really going to start the season off a little salty if we lose Skipper...

You got 4 people to like your post and 2 welcomes here, that is literally unheard of, so get yer *** to stepping.

I wouldn't say AB was a rough day for Steelers fans. I would have preferred he went anywhere else. But the Steelers got capital to get Devin Bush. The Raiders had a very bad day.

welcome, BnB. yes, hoping that Tuzar's absence from the team is only temporary.

So I'm hearing through the grapevine that Oakland was sniffing around (now that they lost AB and apparently know Holton), so they jumped to put him on the active roster, and also said he'll be gunner on STs. Still, they could've sent someone else down to the PS.

The Raiders tried to sign Keelan Doss from the Jaguars PS. The Jags raised his salary to the rookie minimum $495k, but still left him on the practice squad, and Doss declined the Raiders offer.

This is my feeling as well... the Steelers have done this type of move several times and they often have succeeded in getting the guy to the PS... it may have been the plan all along or they may have wanted to make it through week 1 when there is a bit more flexibility in the moves they can make, but the raiders expedited it....

With only 3 on the roster, I think the risk of one getting hurt and making a thin spot even thinner was too great.
Yep I mention this prior to cutdowns. You don't thin down the weakest position. As it is already weak it doesn't need any help.

Another Tomlin special.

Another Tomlin special.

Where does that other undrafted LBer we cut play now that you liked? The one where you started multiple threads on how Tomlin was an idiot for letting him go? How did that play out? That said I would have cut your other fav LBer Chicky or Matakevich....but I will just wait and see how it all plays out.

This was my question earlier in the thread. Why did the bring Holton up now? He probably didn't even travel with the team since he hasn't practiced. He won''t dress and obviously won't play. If I'm wrong there, someone let me know. Tuzar probably would have been playing special teams with possibly some snaps on D. The move right now makes zero sense to me.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe they thought the Raiders would try to grab Holton after the whole Brown debacle. The Raiders tried to get Doss back, but he told them he'd rather stay on the Jags practice squad.

The same people up in arms about this would also be losing their minds if we hadn't acted and the Raiders signed Holton off the PS. I don't love the risk but I understand it. I think he will end up on the practice squad and be picked back up to the 53 man roster soon.

there are players with less talent and potential that could have been cut bit we cut a player who oozes potential and talent at a position the NFL covers. bad gamble.

Unless a team has an injury to one of their OLB's.and look for a replacement / backup.

Did you watch the pre-season? Skipper was one of the 53 best. No one cares about a 6th WR. But a guy who was all over the field and can rush the passer? Most on the board liked Skipper too, but now that Tomlin cut him they come out and act like this was a good move.

If I had the time, I could insert board quotes here, and some of them might have " liked " your post. FUNNY!
