Have a few projects I will be working on before the game, so thought I would get an early jump on this thread to add a few keys to the game.
Both teams will be looking to run in this matchup to set up the pass. So far the Niners have had a better showing comparison wise. They statistically yield a top ten D and O which leans on the run. They are showing a good run defense. So moving forward they and other teams for that matter will gameplan to shut the Steelers run game down and see what Mason is capable of. Steelers will need to play better on D and O as the team is in the bottom statistically on O and D. Being away from home and on the west coast the challenge will be even greater, so some keys to coming out of the game with a W:
1 D will have to make some stops especially at the end of the game and give Rudolph and co. a chance to win in the event it is a close game.
2 Win the turnover battle. Mason will need to play smart football, and take what the D gives him.Try to get Juju and McDonald involved early. Establish the run. Give Jaysam and Conner opportunities to see which one has the hot hand, and then go with them. Short yardage throw in Snell.
3 Fitch will need to be patient and not abandon the run or the pass in the event one isn't performing up to his expectations early. Try to keep a balance in the run and pass game if possible.
4. The big uglies our O-line needs to perform and by perform I mean effectively run block and pass protect. Run blocking so far has been below the line and needs to improve.
With Vince still out hopefully Bush improves on his so so rookie starts. I believe the Niners have a T out so that will need to be exploited as Jimmy G is pass capable. With the Steelers notoriously starting the season out slowly and have, there needs to be a sense of urgency reflected in their play. As if you keep digging a hole the odds quickly increase that the end result will be less than desirable.
Let's get it done Steelers ! 1 2 3 win !
