Trade with Seahawks

Weird to see Colbert just giving away draft picks. Granted they picked up two high pedigree players in Bush and Fitzpatrick, but this one was a bit much for a depth guy from another team. Where was this type of aggression when the Steelers were contenders?

Watching highlights of players is useless IMHO. I could show you video of Jarvis Jones and he would look great. You have to watch the games. You aren't going to see anything from a clipped up video.

In fact here is one now. Watch this:

It's not useless. You see what their speed/demeanor/tendencies seem to be and you at least get a feel for the player. I understand you need to watch full games of players to get a better grasp of their game, isn't that ******* obvious?

And where are you watching a full game of Nick ******* Vannett?

He goes down easily when engaged and has no power, great pickup Tombert.

That's why I said he looks like Jesse James 2.0.

Relax, Nancy's...this is a good pickup. The kid is better than Jesse James and Matt Spaeth...

No he isn't. James beats him in every single category and it isn't even close. James has played one more year:

Rec: 125 to 28
Yds: 1235 to 463
TD: 9 to 4

James has more yards in 1 year than Nick does in his entire career.

So essentially their offseason moves were crap, and now they are in full on desperation mode. I've never seen this team operate like this. Bet this kid hurts his back against tbe Bungholes.

Ouch, facts. Berm?

Google is your friend.

Also watching highlights are still useless IMHO. Just like the ones I showed you about Jones. Looking at them you'd think Jones was a great OLB that could catch RBs in the backfield, create TOs and rush the passer with the best of them. You'd never know that he was a total 1st round bust. Anyone can have a bad play. So you don't know if the guy he is going against just had a bad play or is he just bad?

So he's better than Grimble --- EXCELLENT!!!

Good thing i kept the Seattle game recording

His one catch against the Steelers was a big one, 13 yds on a 3rd and 10 leading to their stud TE Dissly's TD on the very next play

"We gotta get this guy"

I have no idea anymore. I do know they draft busts in round 1,so giving up a 5th isn't so bad.

I should have rephrased the question, why?

Okay, that's your opinion, fair enough. For a guy like me who doesn't watch college ball (minus some Iowa Hawkeyes games) though, it's at least a snapshot of the prospect's abilities. I'm not really watching (or caring about) the competition, I'm just looking at the player on the surface, and again, looking at speed/demeanor/tendencies and that's it.

Thanks for the info FF, you do good player breakdowns IMO. What's he like in the passing game?

Vannett is a big bodied guy who is a classic OSU TE. He reminds me a bit of Vance which is a little concerning. But from what I remember he had reliable hands, good size, willing blocker, and a decent athlete. Never going to be Kelce but my hope is he’s healthy from his back injury and can catch on quick. Likely have him this year and next as a RFA then gone like James. But we never should have rolled into this season with Grimble as a backup.

Perhaps what gets Mike Tomlin out of here sooner rather than later, Litos.
